Green 

Anandra 

Anandra is a voluminous green butterhead for the spring, summer and fall. With a large frame 

and a shiny, medium green color, Anandra produces heavy heads under a variety of conditions. 

Anandra is fast to make a large frame but slow to fill, allowing for a flexible harvest window. 

Strong against tipburn and bolting, it also has a closed, upright base and excellent disease 

resistance for conventional and organic conditions. Recommended for both fresh market 

and processing.

Barilla 

Barilla is a medium to dark green, thick-leaved variety with a strong base and good volume. It is 

strong against internal tipburn and appropriate for late spring and early autumn crops. Thanks to 

its broad spectrum of resistances, this variety performs very well in organic growing conditions.

Anandra 

Cuervo 

Cuervo is a light green butterhead lettuce that has an improved resistance to Downy Mildew. 

Cuervo produces a large head and has loose heading characteristics making this variety suitable 

for processors as well as the fresh market.

Margarita 

Margarita is a dark green butterhead in the Esmeralda class that is resistant to Lettuce Mosaic 

and Lettuce Dieback (Tomato Bushy Stunt Virus). Margarita is good against tipburn, slow to bolt 

and has good field holding ability.

Cuervo 

Mirlo 

A voluminous bright green butterhead variety with a well-filled heart and flat bottom, not too 

dense, and easy to peel. Very strong on internal tipburn. Broad adaptability with excellent 

performance late spring and summer.

Alkindus 

Alkindus is an improved Roxy type with slightly savoyed leaves and excellent Mildew and 

aphid resistance. It is mid-sized, has a beautiful dark red color and is suitable for full season 

production. Excellent fill and good field holding capacity. 


Green leaf 

Bergam’s Green 

A greenleaf in the North Star class with Corky Root (Ss) resistance. Bergam’s Green has a larger 

frame than North Star, darker green color and less tendency to head. Best suited for summer 

and fall harvests. Slow bolting and holds well in the field. Stong against tipburn and resistant to 

heading, even in variable weather conditions.

Roxy 

Roxy 

An outstanding red butterhead variety due to its brilliant leaf color and field performance. Roxy 

has an open, loose head with delicate leaves that are slightly blistered. Nice base, slow bolting 

and strong against tipburn.

Phiefer | new 

Large frame green leaf variety with vibrant medium green color. Consistent throughout 

the growing season with a uniform size and shape. Good leaf texture with a ruffled 

margin and savoy leaf. Weight on this variety exceeds expectations.

Bergam's Green 

Muir 

Muir is a medium-sized, light green, open and slow-growing green leaf variety. The heads grow very 

upright and the hearts are well-filled. Sweet flavor and strong against bolting and internal tipburn. 

Appropriate for field and unheated greenhouse production. Excellent Mildew and aphid resistance. 


Serrana 

Dark green whole leaf type with exceptional bottom quality, high uniform leaf count and premium 

Bremia resistance.

Stacker 

Stacker 

Stacker has a unique upright habit and narrow leaf blade attachment. The dark green leaves have 

a smooth, slightly undulating margin and are uniform in shape and size. With its high leaf count, 

Stacker will work for the whole leaf market, as well as for heads - its upright base facilitates 

packing into boxes or sleeves with minimal breakage. This variety has high Mildew resistance and 

performs best in the summer and fall slots.

Tropicana 

Proven to be the best heat and bolt tolerant green leaf variety in its class in trials across the 

country. Tropicana is tolerant to tipburn and ‘leaf scorch’ and is Corky Root resistant. Excellent 

uniformity and leaf texture. Tropicana can be used in fresh packs or whole leaf production.

Green tango 

Red Mist 

Red Mist is a red leaf lettuce with a long planting window. Upright, V-shape helps prevent basal 

rot and packs well. Excellent weight for a red leaf. Cores stay low, Red Mist is slower to bolt 

than other red leaf varieties in its class. A highly presentable lettuce with nice color contrast 

between red and green.

Ezrilla 

This is a unique one-cut green tango. Ezrilla has incized, dark green outer leaves and a sweet, 

blanched center. We highly recommend this variety for adding texture, loft, and crunch to your 

mix. Strong disease resistance and slow bolting make Ezrilla an adaptable variety for many 

regions and seasons. Suitable for mechanical harvest.

Cantarix is a large-sized, dark red oakleaf lettuce with an attractive base. This variety has dense 

heads with wide leaves and an attractive color variation, and grows upright. It can be cultivated 

in the spring and early autumn.

Vivid green cut leaf variety with superior texture and a flavorful crunch. A much improved

A lobey deep red one-cut leaf with a glossy soft texture and a lot of dimension. The color contrast 

between the dark cherry and bright light green gradation on the leaf is striking. This variety has 

good bolting tolerance and produces leaves with a fine ripple.

Ilema 

Lollo rossa 

Fossey 

Good volume, nice dark red color and well-filled leaves describe the outstanding characteristics 

of Fossey, a variety that can be grown the whole season. It is strong against bolting and has an 

excellent resistance package. Fossey has an upright base, with thin leaves at the base, making 

it a variety with less susceptibility to bottom rot.

Hampton 

Hampton is a voluminous, high leaf count one-cut oakleaf. Dark, shiny green leaves have a

Buckley is a beautiful one-cut red oakleaf. Lobed, deep red leaves grow in an upright rosette, 

forming a highly presentable variety that can be harvested by hand for whole heads, or 

mechanically for a mix. Pair with Hampton Eazyleaf for a vibrant display.

This unique one-cut lettuce is in a category of its own. Green Reef will add loft and diversity

Arroyo 

Arroyo is an outstanding variety that is well-suited for both hearts and whole head production. 

Fresh market and industry growers will appreciate Arroyo's tall, upright habit, attractive color 

and high tolerance to Downy Mildew. Tight internodes and a V-shaped base produces high 

quality hearts. Arroyo is best planted in the spring and fall slots. In cooler areas it can also be 

planted in the summer. 


Clouny (E01G.10284) | new 

Medium green full romaine with semi-smooth, glossy leaf texture that is thick, but pliable. 

Medium-sized frame with a narrow, rounded V-shaped base. Best used as a heart or carton 

type in California and a carton type in Arizona. Slot in spring or fall for best performance. 


Tenaya 

Tenaya is a dark colored romaine with resistance to Nasanovia (Red Lettuce Aphid) and 

Tomato Bushy Stunt (Lettuce Dieback). In field trials, Tenaya has been slow to cup and is 

suitable for processing or carton production.

Tuolomne (E01G.70042) | new 

Extra large romaine with a very substantial frame. Smooth leaved, medium green plant with 

a high yield. This variety has an open habit that produces optimum weight. The base forms a 

wide V-shape with narrow ribs. A broadly adaptable, consistent performing variety for both 

whole head and processing markets.

Coastal Star 

A dark green, tall romaine for spring and fall harvest that is similar to Darkland Cos, but taller 

and darker. Early maturing and producing large, heavy heads that can be used for hearts or 

fresh pack. 


Green mini-romaine 

Starhawk 

Starhawk is a mini-romaine with a dark green, shiny color and a dense, well-filled heart that is 

strong against internal tipburn. Good for loose leaf and full head market. Strong Mildew and 

aphid resistance and broad seasonal adaptability.

Clouny (E01G.10284) 

Mezquite (E01G.10064) | new 

A semi-savoy full-sized romaine with a thick texture. Works well for the heart market, but the 

nice internal blanching provides an attractive product for the value-added segment. The base is 

tapered with straight ribs, which makes for easier harvesting and packing. Performs best 

mid-January through February in the desert region.

Rainier | new 

Rainier is a late spring to summer full-size romaine. Ribs are smooth, defined, and usually 

straight. It fills in fairly fast and makes nice heart when finished. It is a large, heavy, medium 

green romaine for carton, hearts, and processing. It has improved Mildew resistance as well 

as Tobacco Bushy Stunt Virus (TBSV), Lettuce Necrotic Stunt Virus (LNSV) and red aphid 

resistance.

Red mini-romaine 

Breen 

Breen is a unique variety due to its brilliant purple-red exterior color and juxtaposition to the 

interior green color. It closes nicely in the top, resulting in a perfectly formed heart. This great 

tasting variety, which resembles a Treviso radicchio in appearance, has excellent shelf-life.

Pomegranate Crunch 

This variety is a red mini-romaine with an open habit and smooth texture. Faster growing 

than other red romaine varieties, with a brighter poppy red color on the outside and 

a sparkled red-green inside. Pomegranate Crunch is a nice red partner for a twin pack 

with green mini-romaine Starhawk.

Rhazes 

Rhazes produces a unique, merlot-colored mini-little gem that grows slowly and has nice 

texture. A strong tolerance to Sclerotinia.

Alcazaba 

Dragoon 

Dragoon is a well-filling little gem that is slightly larger than Spretnak. This dark green compact 

variety matures slowly and keeps a short core. It is strong against bolting, internal tipburn and 

Mildew. Appropriate for open field or unheated greenhouse production. 


Newham 

Newham is a green little gem with red aphid resistance in the Spretnak class. Exceptional fill, 

strong tipburn resistance, and a sweet buttery taste make this variety a standout. Suitable for 

year-round production in coastal regions, and winter, spring, and fall production in hot summer 

growing areas.

Truchas 

A mini-romaine/little gem type that has a stunning contrast between green hearts and dark 

cherry red leaves. The upright cylindrical shape, good uniformity, and ease of cleaning make 

this an excellent addition to the Enza Zaden assortment. Beautiful size and color contrast pair 

well with the green little gem, Dragoon.

A little gem with nice texture, smoother leaf compared to Venado and loose heading 

characteristics. Very attractive.

Spretnak 

A beautiful and tasty little gem lettuce with short, well closing heads, smooth outer leaves, and

Bandelier 

Bandelier is a large heading spring variety for possible carton and processing markets with 

good Mildew protection.

Eblin 

A large heading iceberg for the front end planting season. This variety has shown high tolerance 

to Lettuce Big Vein and produces a larger and uniform head, suitable for carton pack and 

processors. 


Bayfield (E01E.70007) 

Late spring/early summer iceberg that produces medium to large sized heads with defined 

smooth ribs. Core stays low while still maturing quickly. Uniform maturity improves harvest 

quality.

Midway 

Midway is also an early spring iceberg variety. It is a sure heading iceberg with excellent head 

size and cover. Because of its unique qualities, Midway can have a longer harvest window than 

most varieties.

Bandelier 

Boulder 

Boulder produces a large head with good weight that is very compact and has a short core. It 

has good tolerance to Mildew and tipburn and is best slotted for mid to late spring harvest. 


Denali 

Denali is a good transition variety from early spring to summer plantings. Round head shape, 

medium dark color, excellent wrap. Fast growing variety. 


Diamond 

Diamond produces a flat round head with smooth ribs and good head protection. Diamond has 

good tolerance to tipburn and bolting compared to other Salinas types.

Dillon | new 

Iceberg with excellent uniformity and small head size. Nice internal fill and conformation. 

Base shape is good with small ribs. Exterior frame and wrap leaves stand out for their 

darker color. Excellent resistance and field tolerance for downy mildew. The head size 

and weight increases in hot weather, and performs best in late summer on the coast or 

in warmer climates with more sun.

Pueblo (E01E.70038) 

Late spring/early summer and early fall iceberg that produces medium to large sized heads with 

defined smooth ribs. This faster maturing variety, possesses strong identifiable characteristics 

such as low cores, uniformity and strong protective wrapper.

Steamboat 

Steamboat is an iceberg with many good characteristics, best suited for summer harvest. It is an 

excellent choice for processing because of its head weight, short core and resistance to internal

Telluride 

Telluride produces a medium-large-sized crisphead with Corky Root resistance. It has a large 

frame with a more upright habit than standards. Telluride has a durable leaf texture with good 

field holding ability. Telluride is a versatile standard for spring, summer, and fall harvest in cooler 

climates.

Triple red color, high percentage leaf coloration, deeply incised compact leaves, good taste. 

Ezra works well in duo or trio.

Vaidosa is a fast, slightly large Batavia. Good roots, easy regrowth of roots when damaged by 

extreme conditions.

Azory 

Green butterhead 

Brighton 

Brighton is a medium-sized head lettuce with a strong bottom and well-filled, good closing 

heads. The variety is strong on tipburn and very strong on Bremia. Appropriate for winter and 

spring production. 


Caipira 

Caipira performs excellent year-round offering attractive fresh green colour and a sweet taste. 

This variety stays compact in the summer with good leaf size. 


Little Gem 

Ezra 

Fairly 

Fairly is a greenhouse butterhead variety for the long day season. It is fast growing and heads 

have excellent weight. It has a closed, flat base making it an easy variety to clean at harvest. 

This variety has a large frame, fine ribs and a fresh, medium green color. 


Xamena 

Xamena is our first mini head for greenhouse production! It is fast growing, with good top

Strong, vigorous rootstock with a positive generative effect on the growth of the cultivar 

grafted on it. An Estamino-graft results in a well-balanced plant with good generative growth. 

It does not have an excessive vegetative effect on the cultivar grafted on it. The balance in plant 

growth results in a steady production and all cultivars maintain size and productivity until the 

end of the cultivation cycle. Estamino is definitely a rootstock for growers that have issues with 

controlling excessive vegetative growth in their crops.

Fortamino 

This rootstock is especially developed for non-heated conditions. Fortamino is recommended 

for use when transplanting into hot growing conditions, because the strong root system 

provides extra vegetative power to the plants in the early stage of growth, providing very good 

leaf cover and excellent recovery after stress conditions. Grafting on Fortamino also has a 

positive effect on the number of flowers per truss and higher average fruit weight.

Oval eggplant 

Bartok 

Bartok is a half long eggplant for long-cycle high-tech greenhouse cultivation as well as low-tech 

tunnel crop in warm areas. The fruits are very dark, very firm with long shelf-life, due to a green 

compact spineless calyx. The fruits are on average a bit smaller than most other varieties, but this 

is compensated in a higher number of fruits. In high tech crops, the use of a vegetative tomato 

rootstock is advised. 

Traviata 

Traviata has a strong-growing, well-balanced plant. Recommended for spring and summer 

protected crop and open field cultivation. Traviata sets fruit regularly throughout the growing 

season. Very high overall production. The fruits are uniform in size and have a very attractive 

shiny black color. Early-maturing and productive.

Poniente offers a strong resistance package and produces uniform dark green fruit that are

production, Poniente performs best in the spring and fall in hot climates, and does well in spring, 

summer, and fall in cooler climates.

Solstice is a fall-winter variety ideal for Ontario and British Columbia. Solstice is a generative

and economical.

Komet 

Komet is a great fit for the spring-summer crops in substrate crops; under plastic and glass 

covers. Komet is a highly adaptable and heat tolerant variety: an excellent choice to deal with the

This widely adaptable mini-cucumber variety is primarily grown in the spring and summer

season, Picolino maintains its high quality and production level.

Resistances in varieties of our crops will be coded (see for 

explanation our coding list at www.enzazaden.com), unless 

indicated otherwise. 

In case a variety is resistant to more than one pathogen, the 

individual resistance codes will be separated by the symbol “/”. 

• If in a resistance code of a certain variety reference is made to 

certain strains for which the resistance is claimed this means that 

no resistance is claimed to other strains of the same pathogen. 

• If in a resistance code no reference is made to strains of the 

pathogen for which the resistance is claimed this means that 

resistance is claimed only to certain not further specified strains 

of the pathogen and herewith disclaiming any guarantee that the 

variety will not be infected by the said pathogen. 

High resistance (HR) - plant varieties that highly restrict the growth 

and development of the specified pest or pathogen undernormal 

pest or athogen pressure when compared to susceptible varieties. 

These plant varieties may, however, exhibit some symptoms or 

damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure. 

Intermediate resistance (IR) - plant varieties that restrict the growth 

and development of the specified pest or pathogen, but may exhibit 

a greater range of symptoms or damage compared to highly 

resistant plant varieties. Intermediate resistant plant varieties will 

still show less severe symptoms or damage than susceptible plant 

varieties when grown under similar environmental conditions and/or 

pest or pathogen pressure. 

Tolerance - the ability of a plant variety to endure abiotic stress 

without serious consequences for growth, appearance and yield.
