The Heart of a Worshipper<br />

spr<strong>in</strong>g out of my heart. The fruit that comes out<br />

of my mouth is what my heart is really like.<br />

For out of the abundance of the heart his<br />

mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).<br />

We do not like to admit this, but what we say<br />

is what we are like <strong>in</strong>side. I can't remember how<br />

many counsel<strong>in</strong>g appo<strong>in</strong>tments I've had where<br />

one person will tell the other, "Come on, you<br />

know my heart. You know I didn't mean what I<br />

said." The fact is, what we say will always reveal<br />

what is <strong>in</strong> our hearts. Proverbs also says it<br />

clearly:<br />

As <strong>in</strong> water face reflects face, So a man's<br />

heart reveals the man (Prov. 27:19).<br />

If you hear th<strong>in</strong>gs com<strong>in</strong>g out of your mouth<br />

that do not glorify God or edify those around you,<br />

then there is someth<strong>in</strong>g wrong with your heart.<br />

Get <strong>in</strong>to the presence of God and ask Him to<br />

reveal it to you and cleanse you. Allow <strong>His</strong> Spirit<br />

to change you <strong>in</strong>to <strong>His</strong> image.<br />

When you give your heart to God, you release<br />

<strong>His</strong> Word to beg<strong>in</strong> an operation <strong>in</strong> you.<br />

For the word of God is liv<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

powerful, and sharper than any two-edged<br />

sword, pierc<strong>in</strong>g even to the division of soul<br />

and spirit, and of jo<strong>in</strong>ts and marrow, and is a<br />

discerner of the thoughts and <strong>in</strong>tents of the<br />

heart (Heb. 4:12).<br />

I remember once while I was preach<strong>in</strong>g about<br />

this verse, I had a samurai sword that was<br />

pretty sharp and a chunk of ham. I raised the<br />

sword, swung it with all my might, struck the<br />

ham and ripped it <strong>in</strong> half <strong>in</strong> a split second. The<br />
