spoken some very strong words aga<strong>in</strong>st the<br />

pastor and the leadership.<br />

I believe strongly <strong>in</strong> the pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of "know<br />

them that labor among you." My policy was I<br />

needed to know the volunteers personally before<br />

I allowed them to m<strong>in</strong>ister at the altar. On<br />

Sunday morn<strong>in</strong>g I <strong>in</strong>structed the altar leaders to<br />

stop this couple if they tried to m<strong>in</strong>ister to<br />

anyone.<br />

After the morn<strong>in</strong>g service, this man and his<br />

wife came to me and argued with me for two<br />

hours. By the time it was over, I was frustrated<br />

and tired. I had been at the church s<strong>in</strong>ce 7:30<br />

A.M. and it was go<strong>in</strong>g on 3:30 <strong>in</strong> the afternoon.<br />

As I drove away from the church, I decided I<br />

didn't want to return for the even<strong>in</strong>g service. I<br />

went home, had a bite to eat and laid down to<br />

take a nap. While I was try<strong>in</strong>g to sleep the Holy<br />

Spirit spoke to my heart and said, "I want you to<br />

go tonight."<br />

So I went, though I didn't feel like it. I sat on<br />

the platform that night with the rest of the<br />

pastoral staff and a guest speaker. After Benny<br />

<strong>in</strong>troduced him, the guest speaker took the<br />

microphone and began to m<strong>in</strong>ister. After about<br />

five m<strong>in</strong>utes, he turned around, gave the mic<br />

back to Benny and said he felt like God was<br />

want<strong>in</strong>g to do someth<strong>in</strong>g different.<br />

So Benny began to lead the church <strong>in</strong><br />

worship. I lifted my hands and jo<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>. I could<br />

hear my brother pray<strong>in</strong>g as he walked back and<br />

forth. He was quot<strong>in</strong>g David's prayer <strong>in</strong> Psalm<br />

51. As he walked by I asked the Lord to please<br />

do someth<strong>in</strong>g fresh <strong>in</strong> me. With my hands lifted<br />
