“Remember the Roots”
Safety Fast! This slogan was nearly
mythological in the 1960s and ‘70s. Was? It still
is today. Nearly 50 years after the first MG
drivers assembled in Oberursel, and 40 years
after the founding of the MG Car Club,
Deutschland e.V., we have good reason to
celebrate this anniversary in an appropriate
manner with all of you! And of course we’ll do
this in keeping with the tradition of Whitsuntide.

celebration!
In a colourful mixture of proud MGs from the
past, from the sharp little cult roadsters of the
‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s to the late models all proudly
displaying the octagonal MG front grill badge,
we want to present our MGs in the Taunus
mountains. At the same time, in view of the 40th
anniversary, we want to tailor this Whitsuntide
gathering for international guests. In keeping
with the “Club of Friendship”, we welcome our
international guests with open arms!
Enjoy with us a re-uniting of MG friends from
diverse regions and countries with their
manifold variety of MG types.

Location and Cultural
Opportunities
The Beautiful Taunus Mountains
The “Naturpark Hochtaunus”, the state of Hesse’s second
largest nature park, lies at the vortex of the metropolitan
areas of Rhein-Main, Gießen-Wetzlar, and Limburg.
The actual mountain range is a series of peaks, the
highest being the Großen Feldberg ("Great Feldberg"),
running along a heavily wooded ridge some 40 kilometres
long and 10 kilometres wide.
Here you’ll find a mixture of pine and hardwood forests.
The rolling meadows, indigenous to this area are dotted
with meadows with fruit tree orchards.
This region of mountains, castles and spas, both
traditional and modern, is worthy of discovery.
Culture
A tour of the Saalburg Roman Fort and its grounds, part
of the LimesWorld Heritage Site, is recommended. Or visit
theLimes itself, the ruins of the Kleinkastell Feldberg (a
smaller Roman fort) and the celtic Oppidum at Oberursel-
Hohemark.
Also worth seeing are the resort towns of Bad Homburg,
with its Spring Avenue in the Spa Gardens, Bad Nauheim,
one of Europe’s most beautiful Art Nouveau facilities in the
Spring Court, the Weilburg Palace Gardens and Mining
Museum, the Crystal Cave in Kubach or the Braunfels
Castle.
A special attraction for automobile fans is the Central
Garage in Bad Homburg with its exhibits (at the moment a
Porsche exhibit) including a model car exchange.
History of the Landgasthof Saalburg
The Landgasthof, erected by Kaiser Wilhelm I adjacent to
the ruined walls of the (at that time) not yet reconstructed
Saalburg, will delight guests not only with its “Kaiser-
Corner”, where Kaiser Wilhelm II also loved to dine, but
also with its important culinary contributions to the
preservation of Hesse’s cultural landscape.
Having received the “Hessen a la carte” commendation in
2008, this establishment’s team has devoted itself to the
utilization of only the highest quality products in its
preparation of traditional as well as in the development of
new regional Hessian cuisine.

Founding the Club
In the mid 1960’s a group of T-model drivers began to
form in the Taunus. Used T-Model MGs were inexpensive
back then and their wooden frames could be used in
emergencies as fire wood in the winter for heating or
grilling. Spares and replacement parts could still be
purchased from local BMC dealers who were still selling
new cars. As this circle of MG enthusiasts grew, and our
friend Gerhard Maier from Hausach in the Black Forest
spontaneously invited everyone to a gathering, the idea of
forming an MG-Club began to evolve.
And so it happened, that a couple of enthusiasts, bitten by
the MG bug, meeting at the Altkönigblick Restaurant in
Oberursel on 8/8/1970 at 9:45 pm., founded the MG-Club
of Frankfurt.
The Club grew continually where especially the meetings
in Hausach brought together new friends and ever
increasing membership numbers.
We distributed handbills under the windshield wipers of
every MG in order to recruit new members. The club
continued to grow.
Following the international meeting of 1973 in Hausach in
the Black Forrest, at a ceremony held at the Strand-Hotel
in London on October 26th, 1973, the English MG Car
Club honoured our enthusiasm by awarding us with the
coveted “Nuffield-Gold-Cup”, a challenge cup which then
left the British Isles for the first time.
Attending the Main Event of the English MG Car Club in
Silverstone, England practically became our duty.
Here we experienced for the first time the manifold
opportunities offered by an MG: racing, driving tests,
Concours d´ Elegance, meeting and talking with new
friends and enthusiasts. Our mouths were watering for
warm English beer and the leather-like steaks we’d
become acquainted with.
In 1972, a team of 3 T-Models from our club entered and
won the California-Cup, winning the “Register-Cup”
Trophy – a broken J2 crankshaft.
In 1977 the Club became officially registered in Germany
and has since been know as the MG Car Club
Deutschland e.V.. Inspired by the racing events in
Silverstone, the Club seized the opportunity, as the
vintage car scene began to emerge in Germany in 1973,
by taking part in their own class for T-Models at the
Oldtimer-Festival, later called the Oldtimer Grand Prix.
Today we are especially pleased about the great variety of
types and models represented in our club, from vintage
MGs to current MG TF models. This vast variety
continually makes our meetings memorable experiences.
The Whitsuntide MG Meeting has established itself over
the past 36 years, as an inherent part of our club activities.
For the 40th Anniversary Meeting we will once again meet
on Whitsuntide in the Taunus Mountains. From 1981 well
into the 1990s, the Whitsuntide MG Meeting was
traditionally held here. During these years our club
membership has grown to the point where we are today
counted among the major trademark car clubs of
Germany. It is our hope and desire that our club, with the
enthusiastic support of its members, will continue on
through the next 40 years.

welcoming of all arriving participants at the
Landgasthof Saalburg at the Roman Fort,
Saalburg/ Taunus
followed by the evening meal, not included in the
registration fees.
Saturday, May 22nd 2010:
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., Meeting at the Saalburg
Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Departure to the location
of the classic driving test
Midday Hessian Snack
Beginning at 7:00 p.m. (19.00 hours), The evening
meal, a rustic buffet in the Landgasthof Saalburg.
Sunday, May 23th 2010:
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., The start of either a tourist
or sporting type rally.
Picnic at your leisure.
Beginning at 7:00 p.m. (19.00 hours), Festive
evening meal – Roman Buffet Centurio – followed
by the award ceremony, in the Landgasthof
Saalburg.
Monday, May 24th 2010:
Beginning at 9:00 a.m., A casual get-together and
morning pint at the Saalburg.
Farewell to the participants with best wishes for
continued safe travel on to the European Event of
the Year at Gabicce Mare on the Adriatic Sea
sponsored by our Italian MG Car Club friends and
Fabio Filippello.

1. Organisation
The MG Car Club Deutschland e.V. (MGCC) is the
organiser and host of the M.G. Meeting 2010 at the
Roman Castle Saalburg/Taunus from 21. to 24. May

2. Eligibility
All M.G. vehicles of all production years are eligible.
Participation with a red German 07 registration (“rotes
Oldtimerkennzeichen“) is possible. Drivers must be in
possession of a valid driving licence. Road safety of
every vehicle must be guaranteed without restriction.
This must be confirmed by the driver’s signature.
3. Entries
Entries will be accepted only in writing, using the
supplied application form which must be filled in
completely. On application, the participation fee is
due; this is to be remitted to: Volksbank Dorsten,
account # IBAN DE71 4266 2320 0101902, BIC
GENODEM1DST.
Entries will only be considered when our account has
been credited. The number of participants will be
limited to 108 cars. Entries will be considered
according to the date of receipt. Deadline for entries
is April 18th, 2010. Entries received after the
deadline may be rejected without explanation. Forfeit:
Services rendered will not be reimbursed.
4. Environmental protection
All participants commit themselves to adhere to
German environmental regulations as defined in the
BBschG (Bundesbodenschutzgesetz in its current
version). Pollution such as oil stains must be removed
immediately and is to be disposed of in a professional
manner.
5. Disclaimer
Exclusion of liability in full as accepted on the entry
form is part and parcel of this nomination.
6. Participants’ duties
The participants are to attach their starting numbers to
the front of their cars; these must be well visible. The
car’s official registration must not be obscured.
Starting numbers do not determine the starting order
on the runs.

7. Prizes and categories
The following categories apply:
Class 1: pre-war cars;
Class 2: T-Types, YA, YB, YT
Class 3: MGA, Z-Magnettes, Magnette MkIII and MkIV
Class 4: MGB, Midget and FWD pre 1980
Class 5: MGC, MGB V8, MG RV8, MGF/TF.
Should there be less than three starters in any given
class, the organiser reserves the right to combine
categories. Results are determined according to
points. In case of a draw, the higher age of a car
decides in its favour. Prizes are awarded to the top
three entrants in each class.
8. Amendments
The organiser reserves the right to adapt, modify or
supplement this Tender and/or the Event, partially or
in total.
9. Insurance
Insurance cover as required by the approving
authorities is provided by the organiser of this Event.
With their signature and the submission of the
nomination form, the participants confirm that they
themselves, their passengers and the vehicle
entered/participating have adequate insurance cover
conforming to legal requirements. The organiser is
therefore a priori exempt from all breaches of statutory
provisions.
10. Severability clause
Should any term of this nomination be incomplete,
legally incorrect and/or ineffective, this shall be
replaced by effective regulations.
