We’ve built Fortuna around a single<br />

mission: to help clients sell jewelry for the<br />

highest amount possible, with no risk.<br />

Several years ago, we had grown a<br />

successful business in jewelry wholesale<br />

and retail. When it came to appraising,<br />

buying, and selling jewelry, we were quite<br />

confident.<br />

Then one day, a customer needed our<br />

help selling an imperial Chinese jade<br />

sculpture. Selling Asian art was new for<br />

us, so we did what we thought best: We<br />

consigned it to one of the world’s largest<br />

auction houses. We truly believed it<br />

would sell.<br />

It didn’t. The piece sat with the auction house for 6 months, and on top of our disappointment we<br />

were charged over $2,000 in fees.<br />

We painfully learned firsthand how vulnerable sellers can be in areas outside of their expertise. When<br />

someone needs to sell jewelry—whether as a result of a death in the family, financial difficulty, or even<br />

How to Consign<br />

Consignment begins with a valuation of your<br />

jewelry. While it’s better to see the pieces in<br />

person, we can give you an approximation of<br />

the value through photos.<br />

After a valuation, we will work with you to determine reserve<br />

prices for the pieces you choose to consign.<br />

You can make an appointment to visit us at our Fifth Avenue<br />

ONLINE<br />

Submit your photos and jewelry information via our online<br />

form and we’ll contact you with a valuation.<br />

MAIL IN<br />

Mail us your jewelry for valuation and we’ll mail back what<br />

you don’t wish to consign. We can also arrange an insured<br />

pick-up of your items.<br />

AT YOUR LOCATION<br />

If for reasons of health, distance, or jewelry collection size, we<br />

AUCTION ADVANCE<br />

For certain jewelry, we can offer a<br />

payment advance of the reserve<br />

price. If the item sells above the<br />

reserve, you get the additional money<br />

minus a small commission. If there are<br />

no successful bidders, you keep the<br />

APPRAISALS AND VALUATION<br />
