Animal Farm By George Orwell, ‘All animals are equal...but some are more equal than others’ One night, the downtrodden beasts at Mr. Jones’ Manor Farm assemble in a barn to hear Old Major, a pig, describe a dream he had about a world where animals live free from tyranny of their human masters. Fuelled by collectivist zeal, the animals carry out a rebellion under the leadership of the pigs, where their ideals and dreams eventually turn into new horrors as the ‘superior’ pigs settle into their new life in charge of the farm. George Orwell’s powerful allegory depicting the inevitable destruction that totalitarian ideals effect is wonderfully told in this gripping tale presented by Warwick’s Lower School boys. JULY ‘Time’ magazine chose the book Animal Farm as one of the 100 best English language novels 1923-2005. It also featured at number 31 on the Modern Library list of Best 20th Century Novels. This dynamic and vibrant production promises to be as pertinent and relevant as when the novel was first published in 1945. Thursday 29 June – Saturday 1 July 7pm, Bridge House Theatre £7 / £5
