said another former Exxon Research executive, who<br />

asked not to be identified for fear of reprisal.<br />

Exxon's Natuna Gas Field a Major Source of CO2<br />

In 1980, Exxon acquired the rights to develop the<br />

Natuna field, one of the world's largest untapped<br />

reservoirs of natural gas. Soon after, the company<br />

determined the field would be the world's largest<br />

point source of carbon dioxide. Exxon still owns the<br />

Natuna license but has shelved its development<br />
