SCHMITT HORSE RANCH
Kyle and Riley Schmitt
Kyle and Riley have been in the horse business their entire lives
and are three generations deep on both sides. Both with rodeo
backgrounds, Kyle and Riley focus on both finished arena horses and
well started prospects. They spend a lot of time getting them soft
and collected, making it very easy to finish them out the way you
want. They focus on conformation, disposition, and ability. Reiners,
cutters, barrel and rope horses, or solid ranch geldings. Schmitt Horse
Ranch offers the best geldings they can get their hands on.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF THE SALE
• Sale Order: Horses will sell in consecutive catalog order.
• Bidding: Each horse will be sold to the highest bidder, with the exception of
reserved prices. The decision of the auctioneer will be final if any questions arise
during the sale. The auctioneer also reserves the right to reject any bid.
• Phone Bids: We will be taking phone bids, but you need to be pre-approved and
registered. Please call Riley (507-459-8654) ahead of time for arrangements to be
made.
• Buyers Payment: Buyer shall pay for all horses at the conclusion of the sale and
shall pay the full price; by one of the following: cash, money order, cashier’s check,
or personal check (only with bank letter of guarantee made to Kyle Schmitt).
• Right to Registration Papers: Right to registration papers shall not pass to purchaser
until the horse has been paid in full and checks have cleared the bank, then they
will be mailed to the buyer.
• Catalog: Every effort has been made to assure correctness of the catalog, how
ever, the seller, sale management and auctioneer are not responsible for errors
or omissions. All statements and corrections announced at the time of the sale
shall supersede the catalog. All comments stated in the catalog are as stated from
the consignors and not the sale management. Again we have made every effort
to assure the catalog is correct.
• Announcements: Announcements from the auction block take precedence over
any printed material.
• Health: Horses will all have a negative Coggins Test and Health Certificate.
• Inspection of Horses: There will be an onsite preview on Saturday February 4th
starting at 11am to start inspecting horses.
• RIDEABLITY: It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure the horse is a good fit. We
are not responsible for your inability to ride the horse.
• All horses are guaranteed sound unless stated otherwise from the auction block.
We represent and warrant to the buyer the following for 48 hours after being sold
the horse is sound of eyes and wind. The horse will hit the ground sound on all 4
feet. The horse is not a cribber and has not been nerved. This soundness guarantee
will apply only to horses with problems existing prior to sale time and not to
problems caused after the sale by the buyer’s hauling or use of the horse.
• Kyle & Riley Schmitt have the final say over any controversy.
• Neither the Auctioneer, Schmitt Horse Ranch/ Five Star Horse sale, any
representative thereof, nor their consultants shall be responsible for any liability
whatsoever, including, but not limited to, the loss, damage, injury, death, or illness
of any horse, person, or property before, during or after the sale.
• Horses are able to stay at the Ellsworth Community College until noon on Sunday.
• The Ellsworth Community College is a NO smoking campus as well as NO alcohol
on the grounds.
• No alley trading will be allowed.
• Please examine horses prior to the sale ring, the sale staff is not responsible for
announcing scars or blemishes.
• Must be registered in the office for a buyer’s number before bidding.
• In the state of Iowa there will be a 7% sales tax charge if you do not have a sales
tax ID. We HIGHLY encourage you to get a sales tax ID before sale day. You simply
go to tax.iowa.gov and click apply for a permit, this does not cost anything.

or schooling, and rides the same no
matter how long he sits idle. Pistol is soft
and supple, easy to maneuver, and always goes the speed that you ask. He lopes beautiful
cadence circles, smooth easy lead changes, flawless spins, and is a huge stopper! Pistol is
a sweetheart to have around, he is good to shoe, bathe, clip, groom, saddle, bridle and of
course ride. He has also been rode outside on the trails and nothing bothers him, he is very

the hills, will ride out alone or does well in
a group. In the arena Jabber has a nice
walk, trot, lopes both directions, does have a quicker way about him, takes his leads, slides
to a stop, neck reins and backs up nicely. Jabber is easy to catch, loves attention, stands
tied, loads good, gets along with other horses mares and geldings, stands for a bath, stands
to be clipped, stands for the farrier, brushed, saddled, and mounted, he is good in a stall or
pastures well. He has been around cows and is safe for any level rider! If you are looking for a
