Faith and worship have always been a big part<br />
of community life in Mokena.<br />
More than 150 years ago, the area’s earliest leaders placed high<br />
importance on worship, establishing several houses of worship in<br />
the community — most of which maintain a presence in the area.<br />
Today, these longstanding congregations have been joined by<br />
many modern religious institutions — together forming a strong<br />
and welcoming spiritual community.<br />

Mokena is also proud of its large group of active<br />
residents who regularly participate in area<br />
nonprofit clubs and organizations.<br />
Mokena hosts branches of the Jaycees, Lions Club, Woman’s Club<br />
and VFW, along with a medley of locally established organizations.<br />
Volunteer opportunities are also available through several village<br />
committees and commissions. These groups work hard to foster<br />
strong community ties, provide leadership and offer aid to those<br />
