nebo n�jaký podobný módní �asopis, a jak jsem ho �etl a relaxoval, zahlédl
jsem na obálce fotografii ženy, ze které se vyklubala Natalie. A když
jsem se tak na ni koukal, otev�el jsem p�i tom knihu s Goyovými obrazy

Where did the idea come from to link this political theme with Goya?
Are his paintings that political?
I don’t believe Goya was consciously engaged in politics. He was just an
excellent observer, a bit like a journalist. He recorded and commented
on what he saw. As he says in the film: I paint what I see.
How did you decide who to cast in the role of Goya?
I didn’t want someone too well known to play Goya. It didn’t matter if
the actors playing the fictional characters of Lorenzo and Ines were well
known or not. But Goya, he had to come from nowhere. An unexpected
actor, someone we wouldn’t know from somewhere else.
So how did things turn out with Scandinavian Stellan Skarsgård
playing Goya, a Spaniard?
To watch how Stellan, a man from Northern Europe, plays a figure
regarded as the soul of Spain, is incredible. To work with Stellan was so
straightforward. He’s a remarkable actor. It’s quite a risk playing artistic
geniuses like Goya, larger than life characters. They’re di�erent from
ordinary people in the way they live their lives. Stellan is so modest.
Modesty, that’s the key to the role.
Dobře utajená procházka
Po více jak �ty�iceti letech uvede Národní divadlo znovu jazzovou
operu Ji�ího Suchého a Ji�ího Šlitra Dob�e utajená procházka
o tom, že procházka po „nejkrásn�jší krajin�, co znám“, stojí milion
liber. Opera v režii Miloše Formana bude mít ve Zlaté kapli�ce
premiéru 22. dubna. Už p�ed deseti lety zde m�l slavný rodák
inscenovat Smetanova Dalibora, ale Národní nakonec od projektu
odstoupilo. V roli poš�áka se objeví po letech op�t Ji�í Suchý, dalších
rolí se zhostí nap�íklad Zuzana Stivínová �i Bohuš Matuš.
A Secret Walk
For the first time in forty years the National Theatre is staging
the jazz opera by Ji�í Suchý and Ji�í Šlitr called A Secret Walk.
It’s about a walk through the ‘most beautiful landscape I know’
costing a million pounds. The opera, directed by Miloš Forman, will
premiere April 22. Ten years ago Forman was to stage Smetana’s
Dalibor here, but in the end the National Theatre withdrew from
the project. Ji�í Suchý will once again play the postman; other roles
will be taken by Zuzana Stivínová and Bohuš Matuš.
