Thailand’s most popular beaches, mostly situated along the clear waters of the 

western shore. The island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and 

restaurants. Phuket City, the capital, has old shophouses and busy markets.

Another gloomy day in paradise, as that wont stop the Thrifty Traveller 

from travelling the beautiful island of Phuket. 

Today, I have rented a van (all by myself) to travel the beautiful beaches of Phuket. Patong 

being the party beach could be exhausting to some people, so I am heading to the other 

beaches that offers a different vibe other than party. 

1 st stop is Kata beach popular to the family type group of the demographics. Peaceful, quite 

and beautiful (boring for my taste), the beach are lined up with I would guess peace loving 

people. 

2 nd stop is Surin beach, Surin Beach is a one kilometer long strip of golden sand that 

provides all the luxuries of Patong Beach without the dirty water and huge number of 

tourists. The beach is famous for it’s crystal clear water that will make you think Patong 

Beach is a cesspool. 

3 rd stop is Karon Overview Karon beach is Phuket’s “second most developed” beach, but 

is quite spread out with many resorts along the beach road, generally does not feel too 

crowded, it much cleaner and neater than Patong and the sand is squeaky. A wonderful 

view awaits you at the mountain top where you can see the vast beaches and beautiful 

horizon fronting Phuket Island.

Cultural Immersion 

(Phuket Big Buddha, Wat Chalong) 

Today is dedicated to immersing myself in the islands beliefs and 

culture. So im heading to one of the of Phukets most important temple, 

the Wat Chalong. 

The most important of the 29 buddhist temples of Phuket is Wat Chalong or formally Wat 

Chaiyathararam, located in the Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. It is dedicated 

to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who led the 

citizens of Chalong Subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their 

knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured. 

Nestled in the middle of Phuket Island, the vast area occupied by multiple Buddhist temples 

are a sight to behold. I visited all of the temples which must have been built for years due 

to the intricate designs of the various temples fit for a God. 

Next stop is Phuket’s Big Buddha! Phuket’s Big Buddha is one of the island’s most important 

and revered landmarks on the island. The huge image sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills 

between Chalong and Kata and, at 45 metres tall, it is easily seen from far away. 

The lofty site offers the best 360-degree views of the island, with sweeping vistas of Phuket 

Town, Kata, Karon beaches, Chalong Bay and more.) Easily reachable via a six-kilometre 

road leading from Phuket’s main artery route, it is a must-visit island destination. 

Come to think about it, I have visited almost all of the significant Buddha Shrines in Asia 

from Phuket, Bangkok, Siem Rep, Hong Kong, China, Korea, etc… I must be inlove with the 

Buddhist culture!

Anxiety alert as this is my last full day in Paradise, so I decided to take it 

easy and relax and enjoy my last day in Phuket. 

Strolled the beach with some friends, swam and prepared to celebrate my last day with a 

bunch of white guys who loves to party! 

In between our strolling met a handsome young Thai lad! It was love at 1st sight as he 

publicly kissed me during our first meeting! His name is Dumbo! (see elephant pic)

Street Side, Glorietta 2 Palm Drive, Makati

producing and doing art is lacking of art materials, 

distraction at home like internet and tv, ‘art block’ cause it 

really gets me in the way most of the time.

screaming inside to let all the troubles out -- like the feeling of the painting and it feels very trippy, I like trippy things. 

Our StockRoom of Arts is also a New Media Agency that shall utilize its resources to promote our artist 

and reach the global citizens not limited to the Philippines. This work empowers our artist partners to be 

effective participants in the shared challenge of navigating a world of competing visual meanings and ideas. 

The arts are more than a collection of images, artifacts, designs, and events. The arts are a practical means 

to better inform ourselves about the things that matter the most to us as a network of societies.

‘to para sa pangarap ko at pamilya ko. Sabi kasi ng iba 

hindi daw ako makakahanap ng magandang trabaho dito,

How do you compare traveling before being in the showbiz scene to now? 

Hmm.. before kapag nag tatravel kami (because I'm always with my mom) all expenses 

ako nagbabayad. But then, nung medyo nakikilala na ko sa industry may nag iinvite na 

sakin, in other country para lang makapagshoot. All expenses sila na may sagot! And this 

coming december 14, nainvite ako sa malaysia para makuha award ko for being one the 

most 100 influential women! Yay sarap lang sa feeling' hihi 

How did your celebrity status affect your current lifestyle? 

Mahirap po pala.. kasi binibintayan nila bawat galaw & kilos mo. Konting mali, mababash 

ka na, idodown ka na. But then, it's okay kasi alam ko sa sarili ko na marami akong 

napapasayang tao. Pero I'm proud pa rin kasi kapag naglalakad lang ako sa public, 

nakikilala nila ako. May magpapapicture, may manghahabol, may titili, may umiiyak kasi 

they're happy to see me. Haha syempre sobrang nakakataba ng puso. 

What’s your favorite travel destination? How many times have you visited that place? 

Tagaytay! Haha kasi malapit lang sa bahay ko yun before sa cavite, (QC na kasi ako 

nagsstay because of work) madaming beses na rin akong nakapunta like 10x and sobrang 

memorable ng place na yun kasi dun ko sinagot last boyfriend ko! (Syempre ex ko na 

po ngayon) Aww haha actually, di ako masyado nakakalibot dito sa pinas, mas marami 

pa yung pag punta ko sa ibang bansa kesa dito sa pinas. So sad ?? perooooo isa sa 

nagustuhan ko rin na destination is Cagayan! Kasi lahat sila nakasmile, like meeee! Hihi 

What are the 5 must-have things in your travel pack? 

Skin Regimen, Perfume, Phone, Laptop & Shades hehe 

What was your worst traveling experience? Were you able to enjoy it after that 

experience or it really ruined the entire trip? Indonesia. Nagkasakit ako, nagkaroon ako 

ng mga rashes, di ko na naenjoy pag travel ko dun. Magdamag lang ako nakahiga and 

nakatingin lang sa window ?? haha. Then, yung sa boracay naman, 14 years old lang ako 

ata that time, habang naliligo ako pag kuha ko ng sabon malapit sa window kaloka! May 

naninilip sakin!! Wala akong nagawa kundi sumigaw ng sumigaw natakot ako ng sobra. 

Iyak tawa ako hahaha tapos nung maliligo na ko sa beach nakuhanan naman ako ng 

watch and slippers! Swerte nga naman oh! Lol 

What are the things you look first for when traveling? Is it food stops, museums, party 

place etc.? Hotel! Haha ang weird ko kasi eh. Mas gusto ko mag stay sa isang hotel, mas 

ineenjoy ko yung tutulugan ko. Hahaha tamad kasi ako maglakad. Wala lang, nakakarelax 

lang humiga. Joke then syempre, shopping galore lang! 

Share us your most fun travelling experience? 

One of the most fun travelling experience is in Hongkong, because I'm with my family. 

And take note; di yun work. As in vacation lang (usually kasi pag pumupunta ako ng ibang 

bansa dahil lang sa work). Sobrang saya lang kasi nagkaroon kami ng bonding sayang lang 

di nakasama little sister ko. 

Would you rather travel with a large group, with special someone, or alone? 

Gusto ko maexperience mag travel with special someone.. di ko pa kasi naexperience eh! 

Promise. Hahaha wala lang, feeling ko lang sobrang memorable nun. Sana naman meron 

na ko ka-travel buddy soon! Ehem! Lord, minsan lang ako humiling. Lol 

If you got a free trip to somewhere, everything covered for a week, where would 

that be? Why? JAPAN! Capslock para intense! Dream country ko talaga yun eh. Before, 

mom ko nag work sa japan, and wala siyang bukang bibig kundi "ang ganda sa japan, ang 

sarap sa japan, ang sarap ng mga pagkain, nako Sachzna magugustuhan mo talaga dun, 

di ka na uuwi dito sa pinas kapag nakapunta ka na dun sa Japan." And I was like.. okay. 

MAKAKAPUNTA RIN AKO SA JAPAN WAIT KA LANG! Hahaha sobrang goal ko talaga yun.

upcoming design project, I put up some music, and wear my headphones. As I 

take down notes, doodle or create magic in Photoshop, music makes me more 

in-the-zone to be creative. 

But sometimes, I would want to share my music with my team mates. 

Especially now, Christmas is just around the corner, sleigh bells should be 

ringing from a portable speaker. 

I recently got a new bluetooth speaker, KitSound Hive 2, and it comes in hot 

yellow. Aside from the lively colors to choose from, the sound is epic and 

bold. Definitely covers my entire office with the tunes I love to hear while I’m 

working.

Christmas Queen! 

Out of every person — living or dead, real or fictional — only one 

should come to mind when thinking about the holiday season: 

Mariah Carey, our Christmas Queen. 

But over the last few years, there’s been a special emphasis on the 

relationship between Mariah and the season of perpetual hope. While she 

most recently showed up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week and 

deflected questions about her personal life by complimenting the host’s 

holiday décor, the singer has established far deeper roots within the 

Christmas community. In short, she loves the shit out of Christmas. But 

when did she get so festive? 

Of course, if you’ve spent as much time as I have watching and rewatching 

Mariah’s spots on the Home Shopping Network, you’d know that her mom 

was the one who originally introduced her to festive cheer — and that 

Mariah’s never been a stranger to the spirit of the season. But at the same 

time, until Love Actuallyrevived the splendor of Carey’s 1994 hit “All I Want 

for Christmas Is You” in 2003, her notoriety was reserved for sleigh-free 

jams, the implosion of Glitter, and her personal struggles of the early naughts 

(from which she bounced back with the 2005 release of The Emancipation 

of Mimi and her appearance in Precious, which earned her serious critical 

acclaim). 

But following the kibosh of 2009’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Mariah 

went back to the studio in time to release Merry Christmas II You, and then 

back again in 2011 to join Justin Bieber for Under the Mistletoe, one of the 

greatest Christmas albums to ever exist. And from there, her reign as our 

First Lady of the Holidays truly began: She annually appears on the HSN, 

launched a Christmas-centric residency at the Beacon Theatre in December 

2014 and 2015, and made her directorial debut with Hallmark’s A Christmas 

Melody. Plus, there’s her countless recent live performances of “All I Want for 

Christmas Is You,” a song written in 15 minutes in the summer of 1994 that 

ages like a good wine. 

Which makes even more sense when you realize that Mariah herself is 

a reflection of the season. Like the holiday — weeks drenched with and 

defined by sparkles and shimmer and, yes, even glitter — Mariah is overthe-top 

and excessive. She whips up a pie in heels and fine jewelry. She is 

sequins, fine robes, and a knower of angles. She isn’t a spokesperson for 

reality, or even an artist we look to for transparency and truths. Instead, she’s 

as mythic as Santa Claus, leaving her world of 2 a.m. bubble baths to visit our 

own. Mariah, like Christmas, is magic. 

So why wouldn’t she align herself with it in a way no other artist has? As 

Mariah has come more and more into her own (read: by doing whatever 

the hell she wants whenever she wants to do it), we’ve tuned in to her more 

and more — enough to warrant an upcoming Mariah-centric reality series. 

We know better than to believe in St. Nick and his eight tiny reindeer, so 

we’ve shifted our beliefs to Mariah, an artist and person whose lifestyle is so 

glamorous and unbelievable that, like kids waiting to spot a dude on a sleigh, 

we peer in and can’t stop watching. 

And that means Christmas needs Mariah more than she ever needed it. 

Without an actual person to represent the holiday’s glitz, glamour, and 

penchant for excess, it’d just be another holiday in which to stress over 

familial politics or endless to-do lists. Mariah is the Christmas Queen 

because no one else has ever been worthy of the throne — at least until 

someone else wearing diamonds creates a holiday single that still brings joy 

to our hearts 22 years after its release. 

But OK, seriously: for an artist to become defined almost exclusively by a 

holiday isn’t exactly a marker of relevance. Alongside Mariah Carey, artists 

known for their Christmas music range from Bing Crosby to Andy Williams. 

And even the likes of Brenda Lee and The Carpenters — artists whose 

holiday albums are staples of the season — aren’t defined by singing “O Holy 

Night.” 

But Mariah’s association with Christmas seems so extra because she’s so 

enthusiastic about it. In fact, it’s Mariah who’s worked to stake her claim on 

the season, effectively cementing herself as the angel atop our holiday trees. 

We may play “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on repeat from November 1 

onward, but she’s the one who reminds us to. She’s the one who shows up 

in silk robes and diamonds, performing while unveiling holiday windows or 

ringing in the start of Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways. For Mariah, Christmas 

isn’t a footnote or a bonus album — it’s the time of year in which she truly 

comes alive.
