THE CHAIRMAN FOUNDER 

The inspiration derived behind the cover of our 

first issue is based on our commitment to our 

unity first and foremost as a country and last but 

not least as a family business, to stay united no 

matter what goes out in the world around us. Our 

announcement of becoming a holding company 

may not have come as a surprise to some, but our 

commitment to establishing the real meaning of 

a holding company stands in every aspect of our 

organizations functions, vision, and objectives.

The primary goal of this magazine is to open an 

additional line of communcation with the people 

who are involved with Ali and Sons Company. 

We at Ali & Sons, are constantly striving to 

understand your needs and strongly feel that 

successful business is maintained through open 

communication and on-going dialogue. 

We also created this magazine as a platform to 

share interesting views, cases and topics that will 

impact the diverse industries that we are involved 

in, for now and in the future of course.

It seems that time is speeding, and we are almost 

reaching the end of year 2016. Enthusiastic to 

inaugurate a fantastic beginning of our Corporate 

Newsletter “Access Point”. This issue shall be covering 

a lot of exciting news & events that had happened 

during the year. We decided to devote the first issue 

to all things that we appreciate inspiring successes 

and compelling stories of our various subsidiaries. But 

what makes a story so compelling? To answer those 

questions, we ask some of the people we admire 

most to describe and reveal how they turned their 

experiences into narrative, whether they’re putting 

their words on paper, catching up with friends and 

family, or simply reveling in the people and places 

they encounter day to day. Whatever the outcome is,

Volkswagen Junior Masters Football 

Tournament Qualifier in Abu Dhabi concluded 

in great style. Al Jazeera lifted this prestigious 

trophy while Abu Dhabi Thistle was the 

runner up. They will now compete at the Regional 

finals to be played in Dubai. 

Ali &Sons Volkswagen Abu Dhabi activated a Test Drive 

Event for the Parents and a Scoring Board Shooting 

Game for the kids. The Sales and Management 

Departments celebrated some happy and endearing 

moments with the winners in the Volkswagen 

Showroom in Corniche. 

The entire Volkswagen Junior Masters Event was 

extensively promoted on Facebook and there was a 

Press Release by MMZ Sportz which managed this 

Event.

EUROSTAR OPENS A NEW SHOWROOM IN DUBAI 

Eurostar opened yet another sales office in Al Nisf Building, 

Airport Road, (Dubai International Airport Zone, Cargo 

Village) in Dubai. 

H.E. Mr. Ali Bin Khalfan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, and Mr. 

Shamis Al Dhaheri attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. The 

ceremony took place in January, 2016 and was well attended 

by clients and dignitaries. 

Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri congratulated the team for the new 

sales office and assured the team of all the assistance required 

in the future to better serve the loyal clients and customers. 

Mr. Mohamed Al Masri, General Manager of Eurostar, thanked 

the management for their support and wished the Eurostar 

team all the very best. 

PETROFAC EMIRATES AWARDS ASMEF FABRICATION WORK FOR THE UZ 750 PROJECT 

This new award from Petrofac Emirates complements the long 

term relationship established between both parties since the start 

of the prestigious UZ 750 project wherein ASMEF had previously 

completed various works for Petrofac with the latest two cargo barges 

delivered in 2015. “We are proud to have been selected by Petrofac 

Emirates, a leading international service provider in the oil & gas 

industry to execute a very challenging but massive project. Our unique 

capabilities in terms of our in house engineering, strong project 

management, in house fabrication and ideally located waterfront 

facilities ensured we were viewed by Petrofac as the ideal partner to 

complete this complex project”, ASMEF Management stated. All 23 

modules are being fabricated at the ASMEF yard in Mussafah, Abu 

Dhabi. The first steel cutting took place in December 2015 while the 

project is expected to be completed before the end of year 2016. 

• 12th Jan: ASC is ISO Certified since 2010 (ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007) and 

for more advanced Management System, ASC acquired Certificate of Integrated Management System 

PAS 99:2012. 

• Ali & Sons Contracting was successfully awarded the construction of the commercial building on Plot 

C55, Sector E48, Rawdhat Abu Dhabi, at a contracted price of AED 80 million

PORSCHE INSTALLS CHARGING STATIONS ACROSS THE UAE 

Abu Dhabi Country club had promised its visitors to become host to 

Porsche’s Abu Dhabi Golf Cup, set to take place in February 2017.

gathering to all levels towards the sector was 

showcase. Both ASOS and ASMEF had great influx of 

visitors and potential clients. The experts discussed 

and have shed light on questions like impact of low 

oil and gas prices in the offshore oil & gas sector, 

global overview of offshore oil & gas, offshore

Talents were invited to entertain guests at the Ali & Sons Launch event of the 

Panamera Porsche last Tuesday and it was a blast. 

I particularly got interested in the sand artist Shayma Al-Mughairy, She 

had presented a few impressive art pieces. 

I had to interview her. And find out how did she gain this rare 

talent. 

When I got her contact details I contacted I heard she would be 

busing in class and was only available to talk after 9pm. This got 

me more intrigued. She is not only doing a side job as a sand artist, 

but she is also studying in university. 

My first question to her was a typical one of course: 

H: How did you gain this talent? Or what drew you to this rare 

art? 

S: when I was in school at the age of 12, my art teacher had 

noticed my talent in drawing. She got interested in my work, 

and encouraged me to watch a few videos of other Sand artists 

and their work. From that point onwards, I got very interested and 

curious to see if I can do it myself. 

H: So how did you practice sand art? In other words, did you take any 

classes to learn this art? 

S: No, I actually self-learnt it. I went home and picked a box up and filled it with 

sand from outside our house’s garden and started trying to create new paintings I 

envisioned in my mind and practicing one time after another, made the images more 

vivid and detailed. 

H: Apologies if I had jumped into those questions can we go back to the roots if 

Shayma, tell me a little about yourself. 

S: I am a third child in my family. I have graduated from Um-Al-Quwain Secondary High 

school. I was first in my school, and I was always known to be the artist in the family. 

H: What did your family react to your new found hobby or talent? 

S: At first my family couldn’t grasp the concept, but when I showed them videos from 

other international Sand artists, such as Kseniya Simonova, They welcomed it with an 

open mind. My main advocate of course was my mother who not only believed in 

my talent, but is now also my manager. She always told us to believe in ourselves and 

always reach for what we dream of even if others say it’s impossible. 

H: So remind me how was your experience in your participation at the Arabs Got 

talent show? 

S: It was 2010, this show was the first thing I ever participate in to publically show my 

talent to the world. I didn’t win, but I was one of the semi-finalists. But by that time, I 

became famous by default.

H: Why did you participate in this show? 

S: It wasn’t for fame as much as it was for wanting to send a message to all those people 

who have talents but are too afraid to share them with the world. I truly believe that the 

talent I have for sand art is a gift from God, and I wanted to prove to the whole 

world, what we – Arab Girls are capable of doing – and inevitably after my 

participation, a lot of people started to know about me and my talent. 

H: How did you start getting enquiries to present your artistic work in 

prominent events such as ours at Porsche? 

S: So many people started contacting me through my social media 

platforms - Facebook and Instagram – asking me if I would be 

interested in participating at their events mainly in the UAE and 

Gulf region. 

H: Ok so let’s talk a little about the technical stuff, how much time 

did it take you to prepare for a single portrait? 

S: Usually it would take me 3-5 working days to 

H: How did you come up with the Scenario in the Porsche Launch 

event? 

S: Through the direction from the hiring agency, I collected a lot of 

ideas and started to draw which picture would come after the next and 

so-on. The portrait of His excellency took the most time, but I was very 

happy to do it as he had an inspiring look in his eyes, and I wanted to portray 

his vision from his humble beginnings in the old days till today. 

H: Well I’m done with my questions. Is there anything you would like to add 

S: yes I would like to thank Ali & Sons for giving me the opportunity to participate in the 

event and present my art as part of their entertainment pieces. I also thank you for the 

interview I humbly appreciate you embracing my efforts in presenting my art. The best part 

of the event was the coordination between my revealing of the drawing of the car and the 

Revealing of the actual one. 

I also want to send a message to everyone out there reading this interview, is that if there 

is a will there is a way, and if you have any sort of talent you can do aside from your job 

that you live for and love to do, I encourage you all, to cherish and nurture this talent. It’s 

a gift from god that we all should grow and it shall make us grow internally. 

For parents, I would like to ask them all to encourage their children to pursue their dreams 

and since we live in the 21st Century, Life is now different from before. I know many 

talented people, but they do not pursue growing their talents, because they don’t find the 

needed support from their parents to do so.

You see my moto in life is that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. 

H: Thank you again. Just one last thing, what do you study academically now? 

S: I am first year student in University of Sharjah studying to be Architectural Engineer in 

my first year.

to improve corporate wellness. This holistic 

approach ensures each employee has the 

tools and resources necessary to achieve 

their personal health and wellness goals. 

Designed by the team at Awazen Medical 

Centre, this wellness initiative will let 

employees learn what changes they can 

make to become healthier and prevent 

diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and 

heart disease. 

By participating in the initial health screening, 

our team of doctors will be able to assess the 

risk for these lifestyle diseases and provide 

concrete recommendations to decrease the 

chances of developing these problems.

Screening and evaluating the employees 

to provide accurate data to monitor and 

track the success of the corporate wellness 

program on ongoing basis. 

Smoking Cessation: 

Awazen Medical Centre’s team of doctors 

are uniquely suited to support an individual 

in their goal of quitting smoking. 

We understand that an employee’s addiction 

to tobacco is intertwined with other lifestyle 

issues, and our professionals help keep an 

employee tobacco-free through a plan that 

addresses their social, nutritional and exercise 

needs. 

Weight Management: 

The Weight Management part incorporates 

healthy diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. 

Each employee is provided with a personalized 

plan to help meet their individual goals and 

reduce the potential for more serious health 

issues such as diabetes, cardiovascular 

disease or high cholesterol.

Simply by answering the 2 minutes’ weekly 

questionnaire, we automatically track the 

employee’s performance and calculate the

Time-frames, rules for earning points and other 

gifts and prizes will be provided in the weekly

Ongoing Education: 

Health Radar creates employee communications 

that are designed to increase program 

awareness and utilization, and to encourage 

employees’ efforts toward healthy behaviour

along with ongoing educational lectures.
