Why do so many families choose
France for their holiday? It’s a wonderful
country that is close and easy to reach,
yet so very different.
Many regular visitors go there to revel
in the French way of life, where quality
is of the utmost importance and where
spending time in the countryside relaxing
is a ‘must’ to re-charge their batteries,
chill out and take in the atmosphere.
In the local village markets you will
see shoppers carefully selecting their
vegetables and fruit, the quality of food
reigns supreme and so does the more
relaxed life style.
Which part of France to visit for your
holiday can be a difficult choice. Most
first time visitors go to Brittany or the
Vendee as both areas are within a
reasonable day’s drive from the French
ferry ports. Before each campsite
page there is an area summary which
highlights the attractions and activities
to be found - places of interest, regional
food and drink specialities, etc. This
should make your choice easier.
Shopping
One of the easiest places to shop if you
don’t speak very much French will be in
one of the huge hypermarkets or even
a local supermarket. However, a not to
be missed pleasure is always a visit to a
local market. You can be confident that
the fruit, vegetables, fish, breads and
cheeses will be the freshest possible
and will usually have been produced by
the seller. Stall holders are very friendly
and will be delighted to help you – some
will speak enough English to help you
with your choice. Not to be forgotten is
the campsite shop which will stock all
the items that families staying there are
likely to need - bread, croissants and
