The 75th Anniversary of E.O. 9066
NEW!
On February 19, 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt signed E.O.
9066, which authorized the mass removal and incarceration of
more than 110,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry during World
War II. This powerful lecture will give an overview and analysis of
what really happened to Japanese Americans and why, with descriptions
of racism, xenophobia, and cunningly opportunistic
officials. Dr. Hata and artist Hatsuko Mary Higuchi were both
incarcerated with their families in the U.S. government’s concentration
camps, bringing a deeply personal element to this presentation.
CSUDH and OLLI are marking the 75th anniversary of
E.O.9066 with a variety of events and special exhibits.
