A few days ago, I read a very interesting blog
on Psychology Today, titled "Is Technology Making
Us Stupid, (and Smarter)?" The truth is, it
works both ways depending on how people use
technology. Some people depend on it so
much that it is making them dumb. On the other
hand, some people use it to live smarter and
better than before. It's all about the choices
you make with technology.
W H A T C O U L D B E W R O N G W I T H
Y O U R D E P E N D I N G O N T E C H -
N O L O G Y
Let me cite an example for you. If you depend
on a calculator for even the simplest of mathematical
calculations, a time will come when
you won't be able to tell what seven multiplied
by seven is. Likewise, if you depend on autocomplete
or saved passwords on your browser,
over time, your mind will slow down and fail to
retain such important information. Search engines
help us find information easily, but depending
on online data will make you slower in
an actual library where people use books.
Many people rely on emails and digital files for
everyday business. When they have to sign a
document or write something, they don't remember
the right spelling or their signature.
Things could be that bad for you if you depend
on technology too much.
I grew up hearing my parents say that there are limits
for everything. This is something about which the present
generations are ignorant. Older people use technology
and are adapting to new gadgets, but at the
same time, they maintain a balance in their lives.
Smart people use machinery only where they need it,
and use their natural gifts otherwise.
3 T E C H M I S T A K E S P E O P L E M A K E
Apart from depending on technology for convenience,
people ignore the fact that every piece comes with a
unique user guide. There are numerous smartphones
out there and they each have different features. Never
buy any smartphone without checking their specifications.
Try to understand the memory space, the
speed of the device, the pixels of the camera, and
then judge the worth of the device. Likewise, when
you shop for a microwave, television, laptop, read the
specifications and understand the user guide. If you
have doubts or feel unsatisfied by the details you get,
2

then consult others or simply move on and keep looking until you find something that suits you.
Another mistake many people make is going with the trend. Sometimes, people go for branded things
without paying attention to the quality and value they offer. In the case of electronics, I would never
recommend chasing brand names. Make sure there is a warranty period and make sure that the device
works for you! Do not fall prey to the marketing strategies and lies people advertise for their business.
Sometimes, people just do things to be "cool." Buying a cool phone to be part of the society and for
impressing people is also a mistake. Never do things because it is the latest trend. Here's a video that
caught my attention and I want to share it with you.
Here’s something you need to keep in mind. Never buy machinery that you do not use frequently.
When you let machinery lie without using it, it will spoil eventually. I always tell my friends that as parents
and elders, we are going to be the guide our kids follow. If we live life sensibly, we will teach our
kids the same. To raise smart and intelligent kids and to age gracefully, we all need to use technology
wisely. I’d like to know your thoughts on this, so leave your comments below!
You must have seen the classic paintings of sugar skulls, or heard about the famous Day of the
Dead, but do you know what this celebratory day actually represents? One thing you should know is
that the Day of the Dead isn’t the Mexican version of celebrating Halloween! Somewhat related,
both annual events differ distinctively in tone and traditions.
Halloween is a dark night that marks the celebration of mischief and terror, whereas Day of the
Dead festivities unfolds over two days in a burst of life-affirming joy, and colors. Sure, the theme
revolves around death, but the point is to show respect and love for deceased members of a family.
In cities and towns all over Mexico, locals put on funky costumes and makeup, host parties, parades,
dance, sing, and make special offerings for the loved ones lost. Each ritual that takes place
their religious celebrations. They created figures of
sheep, angels, and sugar skulls.
Sugar skulls are highlights on Day of the Dead celebrations
because they represent departed souls.
Members write the names of their loved, departed
ones on the forehead or brilliantly designed sugar
skulls and place them on gravestones to honor their
return on Day of the Dead. These also reflect the folk
art style of happy smiles, glittery adornments, and
colorful icing.
Today, Day of the Dead takes place on November 1
and 2 (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in Catholic
calendar). It’s more of a mash-up day celebrating
Christian feasts and pre-Hispanic religious rites.
Day of Dead celebrations include reading humorous
poems in memory of loved ones, wearing colorful
funky costumes and makeup, preparing special
meals in honor of loved ones, setting up candles and
flowers in cemeteries, and generally celebrating a
happy day to remember dear ones.
The concept of sugar skulls came by to the
comes up in Mexican traditions is when
the Catholic Church made use of sugar art
at Easter time to adorn their side altars.
It’s nothing new that Mexico is a land
abundant in sugar production. During that
time, the Church couldn’t afford fancy decorations
and made use of sugar art for all
L E A R N I N G – P A R T 1
LEARNING, LEARNING, LEARNING!
It is everywhere and you do not need to be a genius
to do that. Actually, you do not need to be a genius to
do anything. However, in spite your aspirations for
erudite learning you cannot because of a number of
reasons. Hence, I present to you the solution to your
learning problems.
WHY SHOULD YOU LEARN AND WHY
LEARNING IS GOOD FOR YOU
If You Want To Learn But Can Not Afford
It
Education! The lifelong journey that all of us
have screwed up at some point. I know classes
are boring, the teachers are boring, and
school/high school or university is unfair! (I particularly
agree with high school is unfair) but
learning is something that we all enjoy.
Would you believe me when I say learning is
part of daily life?
Working out for those six packs, it’s learning
Figuring out how to do your makeup, your
hair, and your nails … That’s right, it’s
learning!
Reading books … learning!
Paying your taxes … learning!
You are learning something at every stage and
on every day of your life.
O N L I N E L E A R N I N G
Before you run to your conclusions, let me say something
first. You do not want to pay/ you cannot afford
to go to university. Yet we want to go to Harvard, Oxford,
and all those famous universities and we can.
I mean, we can cheat our way through – by learning
online. I know online learning might not be the same
thing as going to the actual place with all the fun and
parties and that stuff we see in movies. However, let
me just point out that there are no deadlines. You
heard me, NO DEADLINES.
So instead of telling you the classic reasons (or well,
at least I believe they are classic reasons) such as no
one will do it for you (not that this is a bad reason),
or that you are too old to learn, do something different,
I’d share my reasons for why yes to online education,
at the very least.
1. It is mostly free
The only bill you have to pay is the internet. It is completely
free in many online universities unless the
website specifies otherwise. The top universities in
7

the world are available at your fingers tips to
learn. There’s no need to pay if you do not want
to spend money. However, keep in mind that in
very few websites you will get certification for
completing a course.
2. Flexibility
Taking classes restricts us to a certain extent
because we have to go to them without the
guarantee that your lecturers will be good. You
have to take notes, hand in assignments, and
wait for long periods. You have to work with
people who might not be as passionate as you
are about your work. However, with online education,
everything is available. There are classes
or courses that give free handouts of the
notes, sometimes, even textbooks! Not only
that but also most courses do not have deadlines.
If you are sick then you cannot take the
class and it will be okay! The teacher will not
point at you with accusing fingers and banish
you from the kingdom of education. You will not
earn names like ‘incompetent,’ ‘lazy,’ or worse!
3. No Disruptions
Picture this: you, the tiny nugget who is full of
passion for learning, and your foe classmates
who will not shut up. They will argue with the
teacher that there are rabbits on the moon (not
that this has ever happened to me) but this is
not the case with online learning. There are
just you, the computer screen, and the lectures.
Usually, online lectures are about 15-30
minutes long. There is no angry teacher that
spits out smack lines about how all "you’re
evah gonna do is work an underpaying job if
you do not get them grades."
There are no classmates to ruin the mood. You
can press the pause button and make the teacher
repeat what they are saying without worrying
about them going "apeshit" at you, as I like to call
it. You can repeat the lectures as many as times
as you want!
4. No Drop-out Stigma
When you stop studying or decide to change
courses, you get fire from everyone, including
your classmates, your teachers. Most of all, you
get to hear loads said by your parents ... who
have to pay for it. Well if you decide you do not
like what you are studying or that you want to try
something else, no one is there to stop you from
exploring your boundaries.
5. You Are Going To Meet Passionate People
Forums on these websites are amazing because
here you are going to meet people who are going
to help you clear up doubts you might have. You
can share different viewpoints you might have on
a particular topic and you can meet people from
all over the globe. It is a space where you can
build your knowledge.
In a nutshell, what I am trying to say is that you
have the best tool for learning and it is sitting
right in front of you. I know it may seem like a lot
8

of effort and you may think, "I'm trying to juggle my life and I have to this? When there
is no guarantee this will succeed?" Therefore, I am not going to tell you that there is no
guarantee for anything in life. Instead, I am going to tell you that life can be quite boring.
This can be a way to find something fun that you would like to do.
Now all this talk about online education does not mean that you should abandon your
school/high school/university and just stay at home. No, these places have things to
teach you too, though it might not always be effective. I have talked a lot about online
courses here and online education is so much more important than just studying the
courses.
My personal expertise is in online courses. You can take them if you want, but you can
watch tutorials, you can join an online learning community. Really, there are so many
ways of learning, it is amazing, to be honest. Keep in mind that no single formula will
lead you to your goal. My math teacher Ximena used to say that there is never a single
way to solve a problem. Any pathway is valid if you arrive at the solution. There is not a
single pathway and there no single area that you can learn. You can learn millions of
things if you want to.
The whole point of online learning is, basically, to provide you with the tools literally in
your hand. Moreover, who knows, along the way, you can discover something amazing
that only you know about. Take the initiative to learn regardless of your age or reasons
for not doing so earlier.
Wondering about the top websites for learning? Stay tuned for the part in which we will
get into the top websites for online learning!
Often, “Balance” is a word that people mention
in well-being and personal development discussions.
It’s common to hear people say “eat a
balanced diet”, “live a life that is well balanced
and seek good work or a balanced lifestyle.
Have you ever wondered what balance actually
means? What does it mean to live a life that is
balanced? Or is this just a vague concept?
Life is really a challenging journey. The physical
environment that we live in is a constant flux.
In the physical world, when we feel cold, our
body temperature shoots up. However, when
we sweat, our temperature comes down. Being
humans, we live in a world that goes through
changes in climate and our body adjusts to the
state accordingly for a balance. The same applies
to a balanced life. Having a balanced life
means to understand circumstances and find
the best ways to maintain equilibrium. It’s
more about choosing the right track that will
lead to a life of happiness.
“There is no secret to balance. You just
have to feel the waves.” – Frank Herbert
When discussing a principle or concept like
balance, it is necessary to understand that between
people, balance is a phenomenon that
will always be different. For example, a balanced
diet for one person won’t be the same
for another. Each individual’s diet will have
healthy food in the right proportions, but each
ingredient won’t be the same. This concept is
also the same for a person who wishes to live a
balanced life. As humans, we all come face to
face with tough situations, however, the strategy
each person takes to overcome hurdles is
different, and that’s when balance rolls into the
picture.
Here are two tips on how you can maintain balance
in your life.
P R E P A R E Y O U R S E L F T O E X-
P E C T T H E U N E X P E C T E D
Prepare Yourself to Expect the Unexpected
Rather than spending time stressing or being
upset, learn to roll with the punches life and
people hit on you. You could be there for your
close ones, help them when they least expect
it, but prepare yourself to experience the unexpected.
Not every person would be there for
you when you need help from him or her. The
best solution is to expecting nothing in return
from them. However, always be kind, but never
let people take your kindness for granted.
M A I N T A I N A P O S I T I V E A T T I-
T U D E
The best secret to living a balanced life is to
begin each day with the intention to make the
most of each second. Your day may not go as
planned, but you can go smoothly if you have a
13

perspective. To live a balanced life, you must learn to deal with unforeseen events, adversity, and
uncertainty. Always be content, never compare your life with others, and let your life unfold. Don’t
worry about the future!
While we can’t control life, or the events that take place in our lives, we can decide on where, and
when to take action to make things work out for the best. This may require problem solving, and
critical thinking. In the end, this will lead to a well-balanced lifestyle.
I like cakes, do you like cakes? Buying
them is easy enough but when you feel
like something homemade (or you don't
have money to spend), you make one.
The problem with making cakes is that
the making part is...well, complicated if
you don't have an electric mixer. There
are many other reasons but we are not
going to discuss them today. If you like
cake, but you cannot make it for whatever
reason then, I have the perfect
recipe for you.
M U F F I N S V S . C A K E S
They are a mini version of cakes except they're easier to make. Now, you can argue that the right
word is “cupcake” not “muffin.” There is a big controversy over what a cupcake is and what a muffin
is. Most believe that they are the same thing, and chefs along with food bloggers have their own theory
naturally. Mine is that cupcakes are dessert and muffins are “breakfast” – they are the same
thing! The only difference is that cupcakes use butter and muffins use oil.
Why do I believe this? It’s because I baked many batches over the course of a week to see which
one would taste better. The muffin (the recipe I am going to share with you specifically) won largely
and the cupcakes were a miserable fail all because of one little ingredient – butter.
Sometimes, you can use oil as a replacement for butter. In ordinary cakes at least, it usually works,
but in cupcakes, it’s impossible to mess with. I made batch after batch, trying to replace butter for
oil stubbornly, and using Blue Band margarine (it’s a salted margarine, which they sell in my locality)
instead of actual butter. The little cakes tasted like oil instead of fluffy cake and... I don't even know
how to describe the other cupcakes.
15

T H E R E A S O N F O R M Y R E-
P L A C E M E N T
Butter is not an ingredient that I use every
day for my cooking. Where I come
from, it costs more and since my budget
is tight, I tried replacements. Long story
short, after a lot of research I found the
ultimate muffin guide by Handle the
Heat. It’s a very basic recipe but it sure
gives excellent results. I must mention
that I’ve altered the recipe slightly.
If it is your first time making these and
Sift the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder
together in one bowl
(If you want to make apple muffins then
mix 1.5 cups of diced apple into the dry
ingredients and mix)
In another bowl mix the eggs, oil, and milk
together
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients
and pour the mixture of wet ingredients.
Mix with a fork until it is incorporated
Prepare a muffin pan by greasing it with oil.
To do so, dip tissue paper in oil and very
lightly brush over the surface of the container.
Scoop the batter with a tablespoon
into the muffin tin until 2/3 of the container
is covered
Preheat the oven to 180 to 200 degrees
Celsius and place muffin tin inside the oven.
After 2 minutes check if the tops of the
muffin look golden brown take them and if
they're still pale then wait until the top is
golden but do not let it turn entirely brown
A D D I T I O N A L N O T E S :
1. DO NOT OVERMIX. If you do then the little
will rise too much and will look very pretty but
they don't taste good.
2. While the muffins are in the oven, do not
open the oven before they turn golden brown. If
you do, then chances are that the muffin will
collapse on itself and become a sad muffin. We
do not want that.
3. Fill the muffin tin pans 2/3 of the way. If you
use more than this quantity, then the muffins will
rise out of their molds and will drop out of the
container and you will end up with sad messy
cupcakes. Chances are they will be uncooked.
4. If you do not have granulated sugar and are in
big cubes just pop 1/2 a cup into the grinder until
they become a fine powder or you can leave a
few granules. If you don't have a grinder, mortar
and pestle work just fine. Remember to clean it
first though to remove the smell of say, the garlic
you used before.
5. If you want, bring a little twist to the recipe I
recommend using 1 1/2 cup of cubed apples. My
personal tip is that if you have any leftover apple
you are not using; sprinkle them on top of the
batter. When you're cooking them, you might not
notice if the top has turned golden brown so I
recommend having a muffin tin beside it that has
nothing.
Here I have pictures for reference in case you
need to know how an overcooked and do check
this guide so you know the difference between
over mix and just right. The left one is just right
and the right one is over beaten.
I would also recommend checking the guide on
Handle the Heat. It is very informative and gives
a list of possible substitutions you can make and
their effect on the recipe. If you’re interested in
As a woman, I have some ‘burning’ questions about beauty and I know many women out there have them
too. We often search for answers to questions like, what’s the secret to waking up looking radiant and
beautiful. What are the latest beauty trends? What are the best beauty products for your skin type? How
can you avoid excessive dryness? How can you keep your nails looking beautiful?
I got some very interesting answers from Makeup Geek. Marlena Stell has shared some valuable information
on her website.
S O M E A N S W E R S T O Y O U R B E A U T Y Q U E S T I O N S
She says Phyto 7 Dry Hair Cream is a great lotion for hair care. It moisturizes the hair and keeps it
healthy.
For dry skin, she uses Philosophy Amazing Grace Multi-Use Oil. This product contains natural ingredients
that hydrate the skin without making it greasy. Whenever you feel that your skin is too dry, apply the lotion
on top. I love moisturizing lotions and occasionally I use body butter creams too. According to
Makeup Geek, Jo Malone is a very nice body butter. It makes the skin feel silky smooth and hydrates it
too.
18

For nails, it is important to prevent the nail beds becoming too brittle and dry. I often apply coconut oils
and jojoba oil to my hands. This helps keep them soft and moisturized.
Another tip I really liked and have started following is to prepare my hair the night before. This way, I
get to save some time in the morning before work. I divide my hair into segments and braid them before
sleeping. In the morning, I simply release the hair from the braids to get wavy beautiful hair. Another tip
is to sleep on silk pillow covers. The friction-induced in the hair causes them to stay silky and smooth.
Another important tip for beauty tip is to exfoliate your face a night before. Removing dead skin from
your face makes it glow the next morning. Take many vitamin supplements and water too. This is good
for your skin. In addition to that, apply Ole Henrickson, a vitamin C serum. This makes the skin glow.
Placing ice cubes under the eyes or a cold spoon will also help prevent puffiness under the eyes.
Well, bold lips are in! Ombre lips are still hot and will continue to be the new look into the New Year. Use
two colored lip liners to create the shaded effect. Here’s how to do this:
Another big hit is the cat eyes. Make double wings and add a dramatic cat eye effect to your makeup.
Using the cobalt blue lash line for a pop of color will be a great idea too. Colors like pale pink and using
lip-gloss is coming again in 2017.
For hairdos, I'd say stick to the normal. Go for ponytails, buns, braids, and using curlers or straighteners.
Be messy on some days and sleek on others. Just go with it!
It is not difficult, certainly does not require too
the materials are easy enough to get hold of,
which makes my recipe convenient and affordable.
Facemasks are one of those things that are timeless.
Fashion comes and goes but skin care is
eternal. I am an enthusiast for skin care remedies
in all honesty. I love treating my face but to
be honest I have never used any face pack or
creams for the matter. Instead, I use DIY facemasks.
I am a big fan of home remedies and
DIYs in all honesty.
Brush: A simple paintbrush is fine, one that
is fat preferably
A small bowl: This is used to mix your ingredients
Moisturizer: After a facemask, the skin can
feel dry. To handle that, we use moisturizer
First, you need to wash your face. You can do this
with a simple face wash. I like to dip a cotton ball
in rosewater and clean my skin with it. You cannot
skip this step. It is very important; trust me!
Ingredients would be according to the facemask
you want to make. You may need
things like gelatin, cucumber, honey, lemon,
turmeric, hydrating cream, ground walnut,
etc.
Optional* Washcloth: This is to be useful
H O W T O M A K E A F A C E M A SK
If you don’t know how to make a facemask at
home, then watch these videos below:
The next step is steaming the skin on your face. This
step is optional. You can use steam on your face by
boiling water and placing your face in the steam
while covering your head with a towel. Make sure
the steam remain contained within the towel with
your face facing the bowl of steaming water. Alternatively,
you can dip a cotton cloth in hot water and
hold it against your face until cools down.
Then you put a facemask. Place two slices of cucumber
or two slices of potato on your eyes while
the facemask does its work. After you remove it
from your face, apply the moisturizer. This step is
not optional for those face masks that are drying.
Now, they say that using a facemask every day is
good for your skin but here's the deal my friends.
Your skin is different form everyone else's. So … for
some people a face mask daily is good for some it’s
not. Trial and error can tell you which works for you
best though. According to Viva Woman, DIY facemasks
are quite safe for everyone. An easy way to
test this is by simply using a facemask every day for
7 days and observing the results.
You can choose recipes that suit your skin type.
Now that you know these steps, sit back and enjoy!
they faced to make Pakistan an independent and free nation. The movie aims to bring a message to
the youth - What those heroes envisioned Pakistan's future as and what it has become. The Inter-
"Saya E Khuda E Zuljalal," means
"Protection of the Magnificent God" and is
a stanza in the Pakistani National Anthem.
Most of us sing it every day as students or
at political and social events, without paying
attention to the message it delivers to
us, the message our heroic fathers sent to
the future of Pakistan. Those heroes envisioned
Pakistan as a successful, loved, stable,
honest, and flourishing nation under
the protection of God. Are we living up to
their expectations? Have we upheld the
teachings of our nation fathers?
It may seem harsh to some but most people
would agree that the sense of patriotism
has faded away with the past. What
exists today is not the Pakistan our ancestors
and creators of the nation envisioned,
but surely, God’s protection over Pakistan
prevails.
This movie is a reminder of the courage of
fallen heroes. It honors those heroes who
laid down their lives for our nation deserve.
This is what makes it a must-watch for everyone!
It is a glimpse of the past and into
why Pakistan deserves to be a great nation
- greater than it is right now. We, Pakistanis,
have a lot of potential, which is going to
hell if we don't remind ourselves of the
Pakistan the greatest power that ever existed.
B A S I C S 1 0 1 – H O W T O G E T Y O U R L I F E
T O G E T H E R
Hello, world! In this series of articles, I am going to do the basics of everything to get your life together.
Everything I know, that I have researched about and if there are things you want me to research
about then, I can. You can ask me in the comments below.
Hence, let me present to you, my very first (and
rather ambitious) article of BASICS 101: How to
get your life together in five steps.
Before you get me all wrong and curse me for
this, I must confess...I don't know how to get
your life together.
I A M E Q U A L L Y S C R E W E D A N D
M Y L I F E S U C K S T O O
love with Cleopatra. Let me tell you, he did not plan
that, but he still carried on and struggled. Moreover,
throughout history, everyone has struggled. We are a
creation that struggles and struggles and struggles (all
in our unique ways of course). We can argue that that
struggle was/is pointless because eventually Julius
Caesar ceased to exist, and we will disappear one day
too. No one will remember us eventually. It is a scary
thought.
I am still in the process of getting my life together.
It sucks. Honestly speaking, no words can
Nevertheless, it is my firm belief that if you let someone
else take away what is yours; if you throw it away
describe the situation that I am in better. I often
then you are not going to be happy.
find myself wondering why I should bother to get
my life on track when life is always going to find L I F E I S N E V E R P E R F E C T . T H E R E ’ S
a way to disrupt my balance. Am I ever going to N O S U C H T H I N G A S E V E R L A S T I N G
be okay? Is this worth it? I believe these questions
haunt all of us.
Living a half-life won't make you happy, and when you
H A P P I N E S S
take control of your life, I cannot guarantee you are
Because we all realize this painful truth, no matter
how much you try to control something; you
going to be perfectly happy either. So why struggle?
can't just control every other variable out there. In spite of no guarantee for anything, you may remain
Then we think; if you don't control everything stuck in situations, you do not have control, and I want
then there is no point in doing anything. Moreover,
there is nothing wrong in thinking this way choose to make the things given to you, your own
you to know that you can still do something. You can
because we cannot always help it.
choices. It’s like you're given a very crappy and ugly box
but you can paint it, cut it, or do whatever you want to,
I mean, even the greatest of the conquerors, e.g.
to make that ugly box YOURS. On top of that ugly box,
Julius Caesar, did not hold everything in the
you can place another box and then another. Until a
palm of their hands. He did fall hopelessly in
26

time, when you look up you can see, not boxes
stacked on top of each other, but something
beautiful – something YOURS.
5 S T E P S T O G E T Y O U R L I F E
T O G E T H E R
Now, enough of the sentimental talk and here
are the steps to get your life together. I am giving
a fair warning, though; this might not necessary
work for everyone. I mean, getting your
life organized is something very personal. However,
some little things worked for me and I
wanted to share them with the world. I hope
they help you too.
1. Make a bucket list of things you want to
do.
Now, when it comes to bucket lists you might
already have one but I strongly recommend you
to rewrite it. I want you to write the things you,
and you alone want to do.
Do not write things others want. If your parents
want you to be a doctor, it’s all good and nice.
However, this is not that kind of bucket list. Do
not write things that people expect of you. For
example, if people expect you to be the overachiever
but that is not what you want. Then it
does not go into this list. The things you want,
even if they are weird, silly, or impossible! If
you want to do something like "I want to own a
mansion" or "I want to dance in the rain,” write
it. I repeat, "FOR YOU". You will find big life
dreams in there that give you an idea of where
you want to be in the future.
2. Keep a Life Notebook
This one I invented myself, though I am not
sure it’s something new. I made a notebook in
which I wrote my dreams, my goals, and how I
planned to accomplish them.
Why is there a distinction between "dream" and
"goals"? Well, one way I like to think of dreams is
that they are the "big idea". Then I think of goals
as the "parts of the big idea". Like if, my dream is
"I want to lose weight." Then, I try to make the
goal something, attainable. For example, "I want
to lose 5 kilos by December". In the ‘how to accomplish’
section I write a plan so that I can accomplish
what my goal is. It is not usually easy in
the beginning. Sometimes, it might not even
make sense. Nevertheless, the notebook is a
good place to start planning things that you want
to do in life.
3. Wake up Early
It doesn't matter whether you're a morning person
or not. The thing is you have to wake up in
the morning. I am a night person believe me.
Waking up early makes you lethargic tired and
unlikely to do things, I sympathize and understand
this. However, when you wake up early you
can sit down to plan and consider what to do to
get your life together. If you do not believe me,
then here is an excellent article about someone
who learned to wake up early.
4. Do Your Work Outs
I also hate to move you know! If I believed in rebirth,
I would want to be a sloth in my next life.
However, since I am stuck with a human body I
have to work out.
Ideally, you will work out in the morning. It
doesn't have to be Olympic style working out. It
27

can be a simple workout with jumping the rope,
pushups, and crunches, and you're good to go.
Playing a sport does not count. I do not care if
you're part of a swimming club or football club
or you do cardio. No, this workout you do for
yourself. I know it’s difficult to think of an activity
that makes you sweat, smell bad and cramp
everywhere not as a gift. The kind of workout I
am talking about is a little bit different from
other types of workout for one reason: your
choice.
This workout is not for you to lose weight, to
look good or for fitness even. No, this is for
your body to feel happy. If you do not believe me
then here is an article by the Huffington's Post,
which provides evidence to this.
5. Find Your Life Purpose
My personal opinion is that life purposes can
shift because I believe we are not static. We constantly
want different things during different periods.
Still, it is important to know what you want
to do at each stage in your life. Now, most of us
don't know what that mystical purpose is so here
I have a video that can help it is called "Find your
Life Purpose in 5 minutes." It’s a TED lecture by
Adam Leipzig. This is the first place where you
start so that you can plan what you want in life.
Find your Life Purpose in 5 minutes —Must watch!
That will be all for now, I hope these really can help someone out there. If any of you have a suggestion on
how to organize our lives better then, I would really love to hear about it.
A U D I E N C E A B O U T E B O O K
New authors of eBooks have been asking me
many questions about how they can educate
their audience about reading digital books. The
truth is that where your target audience is matters.
In Europe, a large number of people read
an eBook to a physical book. It’s a digital world
and you will find several readers across Europe.
However, if you live in a country where
readers are few, then getting enough attention
can be quite the challenge. Nevertheless, for
me, using the following strategies seems to
work well enough:
5 Ways to Inform People about Your EBook
Facebook – Using social media is the best way
to promote your eBooks. It works for all other
products and services worldwide, so make use of
it for your eBooks too. The best to do this is by
making a page or starting a community of your
own. You can share short and informative content
about your eBook on Facebook and market
it at zero cost. This does mean that you have to
work hard and be very interactive and engaging
for the target audience. Occasionally, share free
copies too.
Make Your Own Website – Nowadays, the best
way of educating people is through websites. In
fact, for any business, product, or service to be
successful, a website is very important. Make
29

your own website and share information about
your eBook. This offers you an opportunity to
make your own videos, podcasts, and tutorials
if that’s a requirement to sell your book. You
have the freedom to as you wish on your website.
Remember, blogging about your eBook will
be the quickest way of informing people what it
is about and why they should read it.
Use Paid Posts – Another way of getting enough
attention or attracting people is through paid
posts. Placing advertisements can be the
quickest way of spreading the word. On Facebook
and through other advertising platforms,
you can put up paid adverts and link them to
your website. Upon seeing your advertisement,
interested people can visit you and purchase a
copy. Amazon is a platform that handles advertisements
and takes its payment for adverts in
the form of royalties.
it.
It is important to educate people about the importance
of reading and about how eBooks make
things better. The digital version of books helps
us avoid wastage of paper and felling trees. I am
a major promoter of Green Living. I prefer people
recycling things and avoiding excessive and unnecessary
wastage of natural resources. We live
in a time where we need to conserve trees, not
use them for the paper.
W H I C H O N E W I N S : E B O O K V S .
P H Y S I C A L B O O K S
Join Communities and Groups – You must join
communities and groups online where you can
talk about your eBook. The larger the audience
reading your eBook, the quicker the word will
spread. On social media sites like Facebook,
Twitter, Google +, and others, this strategy is
very useful.
Seminars – This may be an expensive way of
teaching people about your eBooks, but it does
work very well. Through educative seminars,
you can tell people why to read an eBook or
your particular eBook. The word of mouth is
usually better and more effective than relying
solely on written content. Do not forget that
very few people take their time to read information.
They would rather listen to it or watch
If you agree that using eBooks is a new and better way
of spreading information and knowledge, make a comment
below. I’d also like to know why you’d disagree
