JOHN S MACDONALD BUILDERS LTD
John S MacDonald’s
renovation New Zealand’s best
From page 27
requiring a team of John’s
builders on-site every day
Before.
After.
throughout that period.
Construction was preceded
by a big demolition job.
The builders gutted large
parts of the house, a task
made more challenging by
the need to reuse many of the
materials.
Before.
John says a key was the
fact that the client, the team
of builders and the architect,
Julian Guthrie worked well
together and understood what
each other wanted to do.
“We had a lot of planning
and time together to
make sure we understood
each other. The client asked
the architect and the team
of builders a lot of questions
which meant that we all made
good decisions.”
“It’s a real team effort.
Communication is huge and
everyone needs to buy into
what you’re doing. It’s about
everyone realising that we
all have the same end goal in
mind and we are not compromising
on it. Everyone knew
what they had to do, when
they had to do it by and just
got stuck in.”
Registered Master
Builders chief executive
David Kelly said the number
of top-quality homes entered
in the competition this year
has been outstanding, reflecting
the ongoing commitment
to quality from across the
sector.
“This is an exciting time
to be in the sector. Our members
have an absolute focus
on quality across all price
ranges, and this competition
reflects that. Even in the current
construction pipeline,
productivity cannot be at the
expense of quality. House of
the Year has been celebrating
quality craftsmanship for
over 25 years - from cost
effective builds to luxury
homes.
“Congratulations to all
of this year’s national award
winners, and in particular
Before.
our Supreme Award recipients
