Appendix G Synthetic small area estimates of youth at risk of a mental health problem The following figures illustrate the SA1s within 10 and 30km of an existing headspace centre and the estimated prevalence of youth at risk of mental health problems for each capital city. Distance calculations were based on the geocoded location of the headspace centre and the centroid of each SA1. Prevalence estimates are based on synthetic small area estimates. These maps demonstrate that there is a substantial difference in current youth coverage based on the geographic definition of access used. Further, in many cities, the areas which are less likely to have access to services, based on their geographic proximity to current services, tend to have a higher prevalence of youth at risk of mental health problems. These data highlight inequities in the current allocation of services.
