Anasazi Cloud Crowd. Near Escalante and Dixie National Forest.
C o n v e r s a t i o n s w i t h t h e A r t i s t Together, these rocks look like they had a gathering, and just stayed for eternity after the party was over. To me, they represent unity. The clouds and land work together to create a strong sense of union. I’m drawn to the natural layout of these rocks. Even the little bush in the foreground is placed perfectly. If I were an exterior designer (versus a landscape designer), I wouldn’t change a thing! Many of the Anasazi ruins are on the Native American Indian reservation here. There is very limited access to visitors, especially one who is on a roadtrip with vagabond plans. I pulled off the side of the road to capture this solemn family. The older (the large boulder) appears to be carrying the burdens for the little ones. This picture is a reflection of the past, positive yet somewhat sad at the same time. These are the ones that were left behind. There is such a richness of the blue of the sky in contrast to the redness of the rocks. 97
