LIT Boys of 1989
(To the Tune of Help)
Help – we need some rest
Run – but we need to stretch
Swim – but we need our breath
HELP!
When we arrived we thought this whole month would be fun,
Little did we know that we’d be always on the run
We’re really tired and we’d like to catch some zzzs
And when our trainers come we drop down to our knees
WE are LITs but we were late
An en retard will be our dreadful fate
We are not allowed to have a mate
We are the LITS
Help – we need some rest
Run – but we need to stretch
Swim – but we need our breath
HELP!
We’re up so early that we cannot find the sun
And we don’t get rest until after swimming’s done
And that’s at breakfast and we eat until we’re full
If you think we’ve got it easy – that’s a load of bull
We are LITs sand we are great
We’re becoming one with Vernon Lake
We know coming here was no mistake
We are the LITS
LITs, LITs, LITs, oooooo!
LIT Girls of 2000
(To the Tune of Brown Eyed Girl)
Hey when we left home
The day we arrived here
Maybe it didn’t show
But oh boy, we had fear
Swimming and a running each day
Treading and a singing
Adrenaline pumping all ‘cause we are
We are the LIT’s
The 2000, LIT’s
Make like a pushup baby
Pyramid of four
We are so big and strong now
Muscles where there were none before
You know we’re dreading when
The trainers would say
Good morning LIT’s now get up and don’t be late
Put on your running shoes and be quick ‘cause we won’t wait
You know your fate
Sailing all afternoon
Trying to rig a boat
Now out on the lake
Let’s keep it afloat
Canoeing and cooking our meals
Hanging out the food pack
Doing everything we could to
Find the right way back all ‘cause we are
We are the LIT’s
34, LIT’s
Living in Blomidon
Mag 1,2 and 3
Making so many new friends
How lucky can we be
Kathleen and Lindsay
Katie and Anne
They were our trainers this year
We’ll never forget them
Always remember when
The trainers would say
Good morning LIT’s now get up and don’t be late
Put on your running shoes and be quick ‘cause we won’t wait
You know your fate
We are the LIT’s
The 2000, LIT’s
LIT Boys of 2001
(To the Tune of MASH theme)
Through a coach bus window I can see
Visions of a month to be
The tasks that are in store for me
Now I know I’m an LIT
LIT’s of 20-oh-1
Our work here has but just begun
And we can run or swim it if need be
The mornings here I’d have to say
Are the hardest part of any day
Trying to run it all the way
Then jumping in the bay
Sailing, kayaking we’ve done it all
Working hard until night falls
Perfecting our skills everyday
We’ve pushed it all the way
Nick and Becky help us through
Push us hard, to see what we can do
Yelling to see if we’re on time
Then saying we’re all fine
Although we’ve been here for so long
It feels like no time at all has gone
So tonight we forget all that’s wrong
And tomorrow we say so long
LIT’s of 20-oh-1
Now we’re here and having fun
And we can run or swim it if need be
And we will be back next year as CIT’s
LIT Girls of 2001
(To the Tune of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough)
Listen trainers
Aint no run long, aint no swim far, aint no portage hard enough baby
Remember the day, when we first came
We didn’t know anybody’s name
From that day on, we became a team
We worked together, to conquer our dreams
CHORUS
‘Cause trainers there aint’ no run long enough
Aint no swim far enough
Aint no portage hard enough
For the LIT girls of 2K1
No mud, no leeches, or August storms
Can’t stop our training
‘Cause we are the LIT girls of 2001, nothing can stop us ‘cause we’re making it fun
Becky, Jo, Kyla, Lindsay they sure make us laugh
They taught us the skills so we can be wicked staff
CHORUS
Just call our number we’ll be there in a hurry,
Smelling like curry
CHORUS
LIT Girls of August 2002
(To the Tune of My Girl)
We go sailing, on a windy day
When it’s cold outside
We’re in the water anyways
CHORUS
Wake up at 7 each day
Run or swim either way
We’re LIT’s, LIT’s, LIT’s
2002
August
We’ve got so much drama, in Blomidon
But we’ve stuck together
And our bond grew strong
We don’t need a shower,
Clean clothes or rest
Megan, Kelsey and Dina
Push us to our best
CHORUS
We Canoed, the Mag in 4 days
In two groups
We went our opposite ways
But now our month is over
And we’re here to say
LIT’s was worth it
In every way
CHORUS
LIT Girls of July 2003
(To the tune of Obladi Oblada)
Good morning LIT’s let’s do your 4k run
And later we’ll do boxes in the lake
Fiona says to Becky girls let’s have some fun
And record all the improvements that we make
Living at Ki-Wa-Y and Wab
LIT’s of 2003
We’ll live in Teepees from now on
Say goodbye to Blom and Don
The first days were the hardest days for everyone
Ki-Wa-Y helped us all adapt to change
The eco challenge we were wishin’ we had sun
And the scenarios were all a little strange
Living at Ki-Wa-Y and Wab
LIT’s of 2003
Being with 21 other girls, wouldn’t change it for the world
After a couple of weeks we board the bus to Wab (Do-do-do-do-do x2)
Now a team of girls doing ab workouts
And learning about bronze cross
Kayaking, skin diving and bay sailing
All were included in our days
And don’t forget about the windy triangle
When everyone got blown in different ways
Living at Ki-Wa-Y and Wab
LIT’s of 2003
At times when we felt our worst
Becky still said safety first
Portaging canoes made us all so strong (Do-do-do-do-do x2)
With a couple of coons rummaging through our stuff
And eating all our tuck
It was difficult leaving our new friends
To do our 5 day Mag loop in 4 days
We stuck together till the very end
But now it’s time to go our separate ways
Living at Ki-Wa-Y and Wab
LIT’s of 2003
We’ll be friends forever more
Back as CIT’s 204
LIT Boys of July 2004
(To the tune of What I Got)
Early in the morning, wake up LIT’s
To the sound of pots and pans, five more minutes please
Got to find a reason, a reason to go on
Got to find a reason to do push-ups on the lawn
There was a McMuffin, sitting by the fire
No one would own up to it, someone was a liar
(guitar)
It seems so short, so use the time you’ve got,
Use the skills you’ve learned and teach the ones you’ve got
Got to work real hard cause Luke and Taylor’s on our backs
It’s raining real hard but our spirit’s still intact
Take a small example, take a tip from Luke
Give up all your money and eat all your food
LIT’s is what I got, memories can’t be bought
CIT’s will be a riot
LIT’s, July 04, I said remember that
LIT’s, it was hardcore
LIT’s, July 04, I said remember that
LIT’s, July 04
We don’t care if people laugh at what we say
Cause we’ll always have a Serbian holiday
That crazy UHIC will not be forgot
Thought is would be hard but really it was not
It’s over, it’s done, no more morning run
See ya next year, we had lots of fun
LIT’s, July 04, I said remember that x4
LIT Boys of August 2005
(To the Tune of Taking Care of Business)
We wake up every morning
To David Muehling’s snoring
Then we get up, and stand in a field
We do the 3k run, it’s a whole lot of fun
And then, we go for a swim
And if you’re not on time you have to leap frog in a line
With Dave and Bryce yellin’ all the way
And if it’s not enough the ring of fire’s pretty tough
It leaves your muscles aching all day
CHORUS
LIT’s of ’05 – run 3k
LIT”s of ’05 – every day
LIT’s of ’05 – we’re okay
LIT’s of ’05 – and sailing in the bay
We had Amy and Taylor as our awesome master trainers
They were cool, and they were full on
And then we were real sad when we lost our mom and dad
We will miss but we’ll never forget
And even though he came late we met a groovy cat named Nate
He taught us lots of cool nature things
CHORUS
LIT’s of ’05 – run 3k
LIT”s of ’05 – every day
LIT’s of ’05 – we’re not wrong
LIT’s of ’05 – and Marco’s from Hong Kong
LIT Girls of August 2005
(To the Tune of Jumper)
CHORUS
We’re the LIT’s of August 20-oh-5
We can, portage, canoe, run and swim
Somehow we survived
And, if we had the chance to go back
We’d do it all again
Do it all again
21 girls arrived at Wab
Ready to start the month off strong
Back then it seemed so long
We’re the first to wake up everyday
Run then swim no time to play
Now ladies don’t be late
Margot, Taylor, Amy, Jess our trainers
Everyday, they pushed us all then way
CHORUS
7 o’clock head to the Mag
Start our trip two different ways
But our plans were changed
With a broken stove and a windy day
A monsoon rolled into Bennett’s Bay
And canoes were blown away
Anything we face we can accomplish
Any day we’ll find a way
CHORUS
A weekend at Belwood without any sun
Off to Ki-Wa-Y to have more fun
Two more weeks to go
We live in two teepees, the high and the low
If you’re looking for a trailer park you know where to go
We froze in the lake
Rock wall, high ropes, program and the UHIC
We dread the day, when we have to go away
CHORUS
LIT Girls of July 2005
(To the Tune of Be With You)
Hold on LIT’s
You’ve got a month ahead of you
Wake up LIT’s
Tracks and back can’t be that bad
When it’s through, it’s through
There is nothing we can’t do
So come on trainers, come on over, let us be the ones to show you
CHORUS
We’re the LIT’s July ‘05
Deep inside we know we will survive
Living in our teepees wish we could stay
With all 22 girls everyday
Build up our confidence
So we can be on time for once
Mag Loop! Who care about
Portages, we’re too strong for that
We’ve seen it all, go down
At all three camps we’ve been around
So come on trainers, come on over, let us be the ones to show you
CHORUS
Margot, Amy, Taylor, Jess
Pushed us all to do our best
LIT’s was so worthwhile
We can make each other smile
CHORUS
LIT Boys of August 2006
(To the tune of Cold Hard B****)
Gotta wake up,
Gotta run to the train tracks
Ben and Naryan, yeah they’re always on our backs.
Gotta do pushups ‘till we’re ready to collapse,
And we gotta keep swimming ‘till we finish all our laps.
Bronze Cross!
CHORUS
LIT’s of August 2006
Always gettin’in trouble for talkin’to the camp chicks
LIT’s of August 2006
We’re always learning more about leadership
Going on our out trip, hoping we don’t tip
Using all the skills that we learned on the UHIC
Don’t forget your flashlight when you’re doing your solo night
We never got scared when we heard the raccoons fight
Yeah we’re learning
Yeah we’re running
Yeah we’re swimming
Yeah we’re sailing
Now we’re leading
Yeah
LIT girls August 2006
(To the tune of 99 Red Balloons)
Boarding buses one by one
Ready for our month of fun
All together we were scared
Quiet, shy and unprepared
On the island isolated
Better keep our goals updated
Running to the tracks and back
21 LIT’s go by
(chorus)
August girls 2006
Bonded by our green bracelets
Every bruise, cut scrape and tear
Followed by a smile from ear to ear
Hey there Taylor I think I broke my femur
Can you help me out or should I wait till later
Stuck outside in torrential rain
People told us we’re insane
20 girls split up two ways
Met up on the second day
Shared a lunch of jam and cheese
Windy triangle save us please
Hiding on Taylor was our biggest crime
LIT’s this is not a good time
20 girls say goodbye to Wab
chorus
Eating ice cream at the park
Playing soccer till it’s dark
Singing songs by fire light
Watching movies late at night
Kelly showed us how to sail
Her expertise will never fail
Taylor’s time was overdue
Julie came and helped us through
37 LIT’s switch ways
chorus
Onto our third camping phase
Bronze cross on cloudy days
Laura showed us all the ropes
Through scary times we held high hopes
Pirates and ninja’s was the ultimate game
Survived the UHIC despite the rain
All the memories we’ve shared together
Have proven we’ll be friends forever
These are the good times we’ll never forget
August 06 (oh six) we won’t regret
19 LIT’s say goodbye
LIT Boys of July 2006
(To the Tune of American Pie)
A long long time ago
We can still remember how much fun it was to be like you
Now we’re not campers or CIT’s
In the gray zone that’s where we’ll be
We’re LIT’s and this is how we do
The windy triangle made us tough
The wind was cold and the waves were rough
The trainers said to egg beat more
By the end our muscles were sore
Everyday we beat the sun
When we got up for our morning run
And we’ve all had so much fun
But now LIT’s is done, we were singing
CHORUS
Bye Bye LIT’s of July
Bye to Wabanaki, Belwood and to Camp Ki-Wa-y
All the obstacles we face we could barely get by
We cannot believe we survived x2
Did you have to do bronze cross
And did you have faith in the brother of Ross
If the trainers told you so
And did you have to portage canoes
In your only muddy pair of shoes
That were soaked and wet all the way through
And Ben told us to run a mile
Naryan asked us “what’s your style”
We all dropped to our knees
And did push ups till we couldn’t breathe
Julie never had to raise her tone
Nineteen guys filled with testosterone
We never had any time alone
We were singing
CHORUS x 2
LIT Boys of August 2007
(To the tune of Under the Bridge)
Sometimes I feel like I’m attached to this paddle
Bowstall and Ben, were our only friends
23 buys in these teepees we lived in
Tired as we were, together we ran
LIT boys of August 07
Doing bronze cross in freezing cold water
We fell asleep for all of the lectures
We’re always on time, now that is a lie
Chorus
I don’t ever want to run, portage or swim again
Take me to the place I love, far away from here
I don’t ever want to run, portage or swim again
Take me to the place I love, far away from here
I want to believe that it will thunder tomorrow
I want to believe that we won’t have to swim
The quad and the UHIC, they did not love us
Tired as we were, together we ran
Chorus
Running to the tracks uphill
Where we did not stop
Leap-frogging in the rain
You’d think we’ve had enough
While we were LIT’s
We made some memories
Hope to see you all next year
When we are CIT’s
LIT Boys of July 2007
(To the Tune of Swing Life Away)
Are we strong enough or should we just give up?
Windy triangle failed because of bad luck
Are we getting farther or are we just getting blown off?
We’ll fall short of time but we’ll go till’ we thirst
We all get real ticked but you better not curse
Lauren, Ben, Kyle and Taylor telling us what to do
We live in cramped teepee’s and wake at first light
We’ll do our bronze cross until we get it right
This month is a labor, we'll slave 'til the end.
We’ll go down these streets with no more helping hands
We've been here so long, think that it's time to leave
The morning’s so cold, July’s over too soon.
Let's pack up our bags and remember the times where we’ve grown.
I've made some friends, some that I hardly knew.
But we've had some times we wouldn't trade for the world.
Let’s write goals on these pages and replace them with our stories
We live in cramped Teepee’s and wake at first light.
We’ll do our bronze cross until we get it right
This month is a labor, we'll slave 'til the end.
We’ll go down these streets with no more helping hands.
LIT Girls of July 2007
(To the Tune of Can’t Hurry Love)
We need to wake up, and find our gear
So we can run and swim, ‘cause we have no fear
Chorus:
We’re LIT girls of July 07
We got by just fine here, but now our month is at its end
We’re 21 girls who went from strangers to friends
Our memories will linger
We can’t wait ‘till we meet again
How many times have we had
Kelly make us laugh and Sam sing us to bed
This month the only thing that kept us hanging on
Is when our masters said, girls you’re almost done
And remember that we’re
Chorus
Living at Ki-Wa-Y, Belwood, Wab
Working on Bronze Cross, and we survived the quad
And when out trip came, we split up two ways
Saw each other few times over those four days
And remember that we’re
Chorus
Now we say goodbye, to LIT’s of July
We’re gonna keep on waiting, anticipating
‘Till next year when, we’ll be back again
We’ll be CIT’s but we will never forget
That we are
Chorus x 2
