WINTERFEST
is on the way
Hull is set to host its
annual event on Dec. 1-3
Now that the turkey has been
eaten and the remaining crumbs
of pumpkin pie have been consumed,
Thanksgiving is over. It’s officially
Christmas season. And it’s time
to start shopping.
Hull’s annual Winterfest celebration,
set to take place Dec. 1-3, has
plenty of fun activities for the family,
but it also features lots of opportunities
to check some of those gifts off the
Christmas list.
The event kicks off on Thursday,
Dec. 1, with the business holiday
open houses. Participating businesses
in Hull will be offering holiday specials
and, sometimes, some fun treats.
There will also be chances to sign up
to win Hull Chamber Dollars that can
be used at any Hull Chamber of Commerce
business.
Friday evening, Dec. 2, will see
a Painting Party by Creative Spirits
at LeMeilleur Bakery & Barista. The
cost is $45 and includes the painting
lesson, painting supplies and materials,
and refreshments including hot
chocolate and other goodies.
Even if your last name isn’t Monet,
there’s no need to stress. These classes
are for all ages of experience. Artists
from Creative Spirits will walk you
through the entire painting process.

Saturday, Dec. 3, features the most
popular events of the Winterfest weekend.
The Holiday Craft & Vendor Fair
will be held in the Community Building
gymnasium from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
There will be 50 vendors set up with
all kinds of homemade and commercial
items.
“Our biggest event, by far, is our
vendor fair. We have 50 vendors
signed up, which is more than we’ve
had in recent years,” said Shelly Van
Otterloo, the executive director of the
Hull Chamber of Commerce. “It’s
fantastic, amazing. It’s going to be all
festive and decorated and Christmas
music will be playing.”
The vendors are offering up a wide
array of products for sale.
“We’ll see all kinds of vendors from
Pampered Chef and Thirty-One Gifts
this year to a great lineup of homemade
items,” Van Otterloo said. “If
there are people on your list and you
just don’t know what to get them,
then this is a great event. There are all
kinds of unique items that are great
for that hard-to-shop-for person.”
In addition to the vendor fair, there
are a number of other things taking
place on Saturday that you’ll want to
check out.
There will be a Gingerbread House
Contest from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the
Community Building basement.
Across the street at First Reformed
Church, they’ll be hosting a Cookie
Walk from 9 a.m.-noon.
“If holiday baking isn’t something
you enjoy, but you enjoy eating them
then that’s a great place to go,” Van
Otterloo said.
The Kids’ Carnival will take place at
Bright Start Preschool from 10 a.m.-
noon and will feature crafts and games.
There will also be a homemade
Soup, Sandwich and Cinnamon
Rolls lunch served at the Community
Building dining hall to raise funds for
the Team Danita Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser.
Later that evening at 7 p.m., if you
are a fan of Bingo then you should
head to the American Legion building
for Bingo Night.
“The whole weekend is a great way
to kick off Christmas, and it’s a great
way to get a jump on some of that
Christmas shopping,” Van Otterloo
said. F
