Welcome everyone to the first issue of
Access Point Magazine!
The primary goal of this magazine is to open an
additional line of communcation with the people
who are involved with Ali and Sons Company.
We at Ali & Sons, are constantly striving to
understand your needs and strongly feel that
successful business is maintained through open
communication and on-going dialogue.
We also created this magazine as a platform to
share interesting views, cases and topics that
will impact the diverse industries that we are
involved in, for now and in the future of course.

Seems that time is speeding, and we are almost
reaching the end of year 2016. Excited to inaugurate
a fantastic beginning of our corporate Newsletter
“name”. This issue we shall be covering a lot of
exciting new events that had happened during the
year.
The inspiration behind the cover of our first issue is
based on our commitment to you as a family business
to stay united no matter what goes out in the world.
Our announcement of becoming a holding company
may not have come as a surprise to some, but our
commitment to establishing the real meaning of
a holding company stands in every aspect of our
organizations functions, vision, and objectives.
We decided to devote the first issue to all things that
we appreciate inspiring successes and compelling
stories of our various subsidiaries. But what makes a
sotry so compelling? To answer those questions, we
ask some of the people we admire most to describe
and reveal how they turned their experiences into
narrative, whether they’re putting their words on
paper, catching up with friends and family, or simply
reveling in the people and places they encounter day
to day.
Whatever the outcome is, we hope that any of these
stories would inspire you to make a change in the
world around you.

MASTERS 2016

The Volkswagen Junior Masters Football
Tournament Qualifier in Abu Dhabi concluded in
great style. Al Jazeera lifted this prestigious trophy
while Abu Dhabi Thistle was the runner up. They
will now compete at the Regional finals to be
played in Dubai.

Ali &Sons Volkswagen Abu Dhabi activated a
Test Drive Event for the Parents and a Scoring
Board Shooting Game for the kids. The Sales and
Management Departments celebrated some happy
and endearing moments with the winners in the
Volkswagen Showroom in Corniche.
The entire Volkswagen Junior Masters Event was
extensively promoted on Facebook and there was
a Press Release by MMZ Sportz which managed
this Event.

22nd January, Abu Dhabi
EUROSTAR OPENS A NEW SHOWROOM IN DUBAI
Eurostar opened yet another sales office in Al Nisf Building,
Airport Road, (Dubai International Airport Zone, Cargo
Village) in Dubai.
H.E. Ali Bin Khalfan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, and Mr. Shamis
Al Dhaheri attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. The
ceremony took place in January, 2016 and was well attended
by clients and dignitaries.
Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri congratulated the team for the new
sales office and assured the team of all the assistance required
in the future to better serve the loyal clients and customers.
Mr. Mohamed Al Masri, General Manager of Eurostar,
thanked the management for their support and wished the
Eurostar team all the very best.
Petrofac Emirates awards ASMEF Fabrication work for the UZ 750 Project
This new award from Petrofac Emirates complements the long term relationship established between both parties since the
start of the prestigious UZ 750 project wherein ASMEF had previously completed various works for Petrofac with the latest
two cargo barges delivered in 2015 Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri affirms “We are proud to have been selected by Petrofac Emirates,
a leading international service provider in the oil & gas industry to execute a very challenging but massive project. Our unique
capabilities in terms of our in house engineering, strong project management, in house fabrication and ideally located waterfront
facilities ensured we were viewed by Petrofac as the ideal partner to complete this complex project”, ASMEF Management stated.
All 23 modules are being fabricated at the ASMEF yard in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. The first steel cutting took place in December 2015
while the project is expected to be completed before the end of year 2016.

PORSCHE INSTALLS CHARGING STATIONS
ACROSS THE UAE
Porsche Centre of Abu Dhabi, Ali & Sons Co.
LLC has taken yet anoth-er pioneering step
through installing permanent state-of-the-art
electric charging stations in the clubhouse
car park of Abu Dhabi Country club. The
installation was proclaimed simultaneously at
the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Launch ceremony.
Providing access to environmentally conscious
golfers, the new E-Hybrid charging units will
be installed in-line with Porsche’s global commitment
to electric mobility and reducing
emissions, by producing effi-cient models
that deliver unrivalled sports car performance.
The brand’s advancements in alternative
fuel technology - known at Porsche as
E-Performance - represent some of the most
excit-ing in the automotive industry today. This
has been demonstrated with the launch of the
Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the world’s first plug-in
hybrid in the premium SUV segment.
Abu Dhabi Country club had promised its visitors to become host to Porsche’s Abu
Dhabi Golf Cup, set to take place in February 2017.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed
during the visit of ASMEF Management Team to
Termomeccanica Pompe (TMP)’s facility in La Spezia,
Italy.
The signing of this agreement promises to enhance the
technical profile of ASMEF and marks another step
towards achieving the company’s goal of becoming a
one-stop shop that caters for its clients at the highest
standards. It shall provide TMP with a home in Abu
Dhabi that will enable them to provide clients with
quality and fast service while reducing costs.

AUDI KICKS OFF A SPORTS CAR EXTRAVAGANZA

Ali & Sons Audi, the official Audi representative for
Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, offered sports car enthusiasts
an exclusive opportunity chance to enjoy their high
performance vehicles from the Audi Sport range. Ali
&Sons also hosted their offi-cial launch of the Audi
Sport brand at the Audi Sport Open Weekend on May
27-28 at Yas Links Abu Dhabi. The Audi Sport Open
Weekend had showcased the all-new high performance
models from the Audi Sport range, in-cluding the

ASC has earned the Estidama 1 Pearl Construction Rating for the Rawdhat C40 Building project.
One of the few Estidama projects to get this recogni-tion.
Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) shall issue ASC a certificate for the same (once ASC
provides UPC the attached excel sheet duly filled).
The aim of the Pearl Building Rating System (PBRS) is to promote the devel-opment of
sustainable buildings and improve quality of life. We are hon-ored to have achieved the main
four integration requirements of Estidam-a’s collaborative and inter-disciplinary approach to

Author, Civil Rights Activist, Poet (1928–2014)
Maya Angelou is a poet and award-winning author known for her acclaimed
memoir I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and her numerous poetry and essay
collections.
Born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, writer and civil rights activist Maya
Angelou is known for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which
made literary history as the first nonfiction best-seller by an African-American
woman.
In 1971, Angelou published the Pulitzer Prize-nominated poetry collection Just
Give Me a Cool Drink of Water ‘Fore I Die. She later wrote the poem “On the
Pulse of Morning”—one of her most famous works—which she recited at President
Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993. Angelou received several honors throughout
her career, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work
(nonfiction) category, in 2005 and 2009. She died on May 28, 2014.

The day I heard of Steve Jobs’ passing was very sad for me. I had personally researched
every interview, topic, Launch he had conducted. I was fascinated at what factors
had made so many Apple customers so devoted to the brand, including myself. He
was certaily a force to be reckoned with, moreover he also conducted himswelf as a
ruthless businessman, very tough to please, too picky too petty, so easily agitated,
oppertunities and list goes on. Known for using and stealing his closest friends ideas.
I was not convinced of those findings. it didnt make sense to me seeing such a lovingly created
product so successful by someone with sch negative z all sounded distrubing to me, a brand so
beuaituflly detailed couldn’t like a perfect story, if only I had not come across a very interestung
interview with another Steve.
wait a minute, do you meant to say, there was more than one steve that had founded Apple?
He was called “The Woz” ... Then what? who was this Woz, why was he being intereviewdd
and asked how he felt about Job’s Passing?
what was ineresting in his interveiw is that it was impersonal. he didnt; go
through his thoghts of his loss to his long time freind and partner. yet he kept
describing moments of how they interacted and witnessed many happening
during their relationship.
then something had struck me. at the end of the interview he becasme
tearful.

I was interegued. He represnted a totally opposite personality of what Job’s had portrayed.
As I started my reaseach about the “WOZ”, I found out that he was the engine that had run the
making of Apple.
Steve Wazniak did most if the engineering on the original Apple 1 and Apple 2. They - Job’s and
Woz -just made it for themselves. Showed it to their friends wanted one. so they got busy making
these computers by hand for their friends and it had literally taken all their spare time. The Jobs

suggested to manufacture a hundred of those computers and before they knew it, they started their
own company. But initially, they were just simply having fun!
When Steve Waz is asked if he was ever interested to take a role on Apple’s Board or a honorary position
with Apple, he declined saying: “I’ve never been asked, but jobs asked near the time he was dying
, if I wanted to return to apple and I said no , I love the life I have . I get to go around and talk to
high schoolers and university students and governemts and inspire them to want to have creations of
technolgy and make that part of their business”.
What struck me most about those two characters is finding the choices they had made to make Apple.
one was tollay giving his all, with no quesitons asked to where this creation will take them and where it
will go. the other was concenrating more on how to make Apple better, more powerful.
in other words they both completed and complemented each other.
But then they both had two very opposite traits. one was known to be a giver and the other
was a taker.
wondering now. is this a general rule of thumb to any succesful business? I
wouldn’t bet on it. but Ic ertrainly believe that having both those schools of
thoughts inteseted in making Apple the best, had contributd for that dream to
exponenatially grow despite of its many opponents and envius encumbenat in
the world of techonogy.
Moral of the story? is it that the taker had taken so much yet recieved very
little time with his family, time making and nurturing freindships and most
of all very little time to enjoy the rest of his life. The giver on the other hand
, thouhg had not gained much pubicity, or wealth, but seemd, at ease with life
and what it had offered him with more time with fmaily, friends and a healthy life
full of content.
The sercret though does not lie in the giuvig or the taking part. its the willingness to still
do so, even though you know the counterpart is doing the opposite. That takes a lot of courage
and belief that nothing can harm you. not even oversharing the joy of discovering new hhoriszons
with such an intircatly designed machine.

Health Radar is an innovative employee
health and wellness program that address the
full continuum of emotional and physical
issues of an employee to improve corporate
wellness. This holistic approach ensures
each employee has the tools and resources
necessary to achieve their personal health
and wellness goals.
Designed by the team at Awazen Medical
Center, this wellness initiative will let
employees learn what changes they can
make to become healthier and prevent
diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and
heart disease.
By participating in the initial health
screening, our team of doctors will be able
to assess the risk for these lifestyle diseases
and provide concrete recommendations to
decrease the chances of developing these
problems.
Health Risk Assessment:
Screening and evaluating the employees
to provide accurate data to monitor and
track the success of the corporate wellness
program on ongoing basis.
Smoking Cessation:
Awazen Medical Center’s team of doctors
are uniquely suited to support an individual
in their goal of quitting smoking.
We understand that an employee’s addiction
to tobacco is intertwined with other lifestyle
issues, and our professionals help keep
an employee tobacco-free through a plan
that addresses their social, nutritional and
exercise needs.
Weight Management:
The Weight Management part incorporates
healthy diet, exercise and lifestyle
changes. Each employee is provided with
a personalized plan to help meet their
individual goals and reduce the potential for
more serious health issues such as diabetes,
cardiovascular disease or high cholesterol.

Ongoing Education:
Health Radar creates employee
communications that are designed to increase
program awareness and utilization, and to
encourage employees’ efforts toward healthy
behavior change. We provide employee
orientation along with ongoing educational
lectures.
These lectures will be provided by our
excellent team of Doctors in various subjects
that includes, but not limited to:
Radar helps organizations generate
excitement and participation by offering
worksite wellness challenges for employees
to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Employers can choose from a variety of
modules including individual or team
competitions, boot camps as well as goalbased
programs such as weight loss, walking
or other exercise challenges.
Health Radar:
• Portion Distortion—a look at how portion
sizes have changed over the years, examining
the difference between a “serving” and a
“portion,” and practical tips for cutting back
on food intake
• Sleep Well, Live Well—a discussion of
how important sleep is to health, identifying
barriers to a good night’s sleep and the impact
these may have on overall physical health,
nutrition choices and work productivity
• Diet and Exercise—separating fact from
myth concerning the most effective exercise
and diet plans, the importance of lifestyle
changes in a fitness plan, the value of
positive attitude, goal setting and prioritizing
behaviors.
Simply by answering the 2 minutes’ weekly
questionnaire, we automatically track the
employee’s performance and calculate the
points offered.

Operation Smile was founded in 1982 when
Dr. William (Bill) P. Magee, Jr., a plastic
surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen (Kathy), a
nurse and clinical social worker, traveled
to the Philippines with a group of medical
volunteers to repair children’s cleft lips and
cleft palates.
Today, Operation Smile is an international
medical charity whose global network of
thousands of credentialed medical volunteers
from more than 80 countries is dedicated
to helping improve the health and lives of
children from more than 60 countries.
Veronique is an ordinary 43 years old
working woman, running her family
household and bringing up two kids, but
