The working group agreed on the following interpretation of the enumerated objectives:
Luxembourg should leverage the total energy efficiency potential that can be
achieved through the renovation of the building stock.
Luxembourg should optimize the generation of economically feasible renewable
energy production potential in the country. This should cover a majority of its energy
demand.
Energy imports will continue to be necessary, but will decrease depending on the
share of nationally produced renewable energy.
The imported energy mix should also be predominantly renewable so that overall
(locally produced + imported) energy consumption reaches at least 80% renewables.
Roadmap 2050:
Based on the “Target Energy System 2050,” 24 key areas were chosen as the critical priorities
for advancing the long term agenda:
1. “Promotion of RE through the adaptation of the legal framework and the establishment
of simplified procedures”
2. “Promotion of RE, self-consumption and e-mobility through the adaptation of the
funding programs and/or taxation schemes”
