Lab-metal
Metal repair putty. Spreads like paste,
hardens into metal. Adheres to metal, wood,
plastic, glass. Apply right from the can. No
mixing of two parts, no measuring or heat
required. Lab-metal hardens simply by
exposure to air.
APPLICATION:
Once hard Lab-metal can be milled, chiselled,
drilled, tapped and machined. Filing, sanding,
or grinding Lab-metal to a feather edge
provides a smooth metallic repair. Lab-metal
will not shrink, chip, crack or peel. Not
affected by mild acids, gasoline, oil, or
petroleum solvents. Alkalis will attack Labmetal
slowly, but only after extensive immersion.
Lab-metal is aluminum filled, and will
not rust, rot, or support mildew.

PERMANENT REPAIRS:
Withstands temperatures as low as
-40°C (-40°F) and as high as 180°C
(350°F), and can be painted with
lacquer or enamel without danger of
bubbling, lifting paint, chipping or
peeling. Stands up to normal paint
baking procedure. Thin with Lab-solvent
for brushing or spraying a metallic
coating. Many applications may be
made from a single can ... simply add
Lab-solvent before covering. Workability
of Lab-metal is enhanced by dipping
applicator into Lab-solvent.

seams and cracks; rebuilding worn
metal surfaces; repairing dented metal;
finishing welds; filling holes and
imperfections in metal castings.
Hi-Temp Lab-metal
Hi-Temp Lab-metal developed for difficult
repairs subject to excessive heat, Hi-Temp
Lab-metal withstands temperatures as high
as 540°C (1000°F). Apply directly from the can
with a putty knife. No two-component mixing or
measuring is necessary. For any application,
the surface must be clean and dry; free of
paint, oil, dirt, and any extraneous materials.
Roughening the surface provides superior
adhesion.
APPLICATION:
Many applications may be made from a single
can. Once heat hardened, it can be machined,
ground, filed, and sanded. Buffed to a satin
smooth finish, Hi-Temp Lab-metal leaves an
undetectable repair. Ideal for repairs in
metalworking, welding, fabricating, heating,
construction, die casting, and mold refinishing
which may be subjected to high temperatures.
Used to repair core boxes, boilers, mufflers,
exhaust systems, molds, wood and coal
burning stoves, grills, engines, radiators and
industrial ovens.

DRYING TIME
Depth of application determines drying
time; hardening occurs as the diluent
evaporates. The application must air dry
for at least 24 hours, or until the product
has hardened to metal state. When filling
deep holes or cavities, the putty should
be applied in thin layers, less than 1/4"
thick, allow each layer to dry for 24 hours.
In order for the hardened Hi-Temp Labmetal
to withstand exposure to 540°C
(1000°F), it must be exposed to a
minimum temperature of 235°C (425°F)
for a period of a least one hour. (The
curing process may be achieved by a
more gradual "heat-up", as in the repair of
an engine block. In this case, as the
engine is heating, the Hi-Temp Lab-metal
repair is curing.)

Lab-solvent
THINNER FOR LAB-METAL AND A METAL CLEANER.
A blend of solvents for thinning Lab-metal to paint
consistency for brushing or spraying. Surfaces cleaned
with Lab-solvent provide superior adhesion for Lab-metal
and Hi-Temp Lab-metal. Cuts and flushes oil, grease,
and dirt off precision tools, bearings, gears, motors,
condensers, controls, and other valuable equipment.
Leaves no film and does not corrode. To prevent hardening
of Lab-metal and Hi-Temp Lab-metal in the can, wet
the surface of the metal repair compound with Labsolvent
and cover tightly.
