BOZDAĞ adressed to the Turkish Grand National Assembly
in the night of 15th July:
Even if you throw bombs we are here
We will stand here whatever you do
Darbe girişiminin gerçekleştirildiği 15 Temmuz gecesi Milletvekilleri
ve Bakanlar TBMM’de toplanmıştır. Toplantı sırasında meclis
bombalanmaya başladığında bazı milletvekilleri tarafından sığınaklara
inelim, meclisi boşaltalım teklifleri dile getirilmiştir.
Adalet Bakanı Bekir BOZDAĞ, meclis bombalanırken meclisi
boşaltma ve sığınaklara inme tekliflerine karşılık: “Bizim burada
yapacağımız şey burada ölmektir” diyerek mecliste kalınması gerektiğini
belirtmiştir.
Ardından söz isteyerek kürsüye çıkan BOZDAĞ, darbe girişiminde
bulunanların milletin huzurunda, milletin yargısında hesap vereceklerini
açıkça ifade etmiş, konuşmasının sonunda, “Bomba da atsanız buradayız,
ne yaparsanız yapın buradayız.” şeklinde sözleriyle millet iradesine sahip
çıkacaklarını vurgulamıştır.
BOZDAĞ, meclisin kapatılıp boşaltılması halinde milletin
meydanlara gelmeyeceğini, meclisin korkup kaçtığını düşüneceğini, gitmek
isteyenin gidebileceğini; ancak burada yapılması gerekenin meclise ve milli
iradeye sahip çıkılarak mecliste kalınması olduğunu ve kendilerinin ölene
kadar mecliste kalacaklarını dile getirmiştir.
In the night of the 15th July, the Parliamentarians and the Ministers
gathered in the Parliament. During the meeting, the Parliament was started
to be bombed and thus some of the parliamentarians offered to get down
the shelters and vacate the parliament.
Minister of Justice Bekir BOZDAĞ stated, in response to the offer
to vacate the Parliament and to get down the shelters, that: "What we have
to do here is to die under this roof."
Then he got the floor and clearly stated that the ones who attempted
the military coup would account for before the nation, before the courts of
the nation.
At the end of his speech, he emphasized that they would protect the
will of the nation with his words that "Even though you throw a bomb, we
are here; we will be here whatever you do".
Mr. BOZDAĞ expressed that if the Parliament had been vacated
and closed down, then the nation would not go out the streets, they would
think the parliamentarians were scared and run away; the ones who wanted
to leave were free to leave; however, what was to be done there was to
protect the Parliament and the national will and to stay in the Parliament
and they would stay in there until they die.
