Hello! My name is Karrie and I am otherwise
known as The Laundry Lass. I grew up
in the Great Central Valley in a tiny country
town near Fresno. I started working when
I was 15 with my own lawn mowing business
making more money than I could image
at that age. I thought, “This is great!”
Meantime, I expanded it to dog walking,
dog sitting, washing cars, babysitting and
a crafting business called Kreations by Karrie.
I enjoyed working and making my own
money, but time progressed and I grew up.
I started attending the local community
college and progressed to the university
where I obtained a B.A. in Geography with
a History minor. From there I obtained two
teaching credentials and started teaching.
I taught a variety of grades over 17
years and obtained two Masters during the
mean time.
Yet life seems to throw things at you. My
brother and I took care of our ailing mother
after a broken hip in 2002 leading up to
12 years later when she went to heaven in
2014 due to complications from strokes.
I enjoyed reading, attending and volunteering
at church, taking holidays, having
a dog, going to Disneyland, sewing and
crafting, and cooking, but that had all
been put aside during my mother’s illness.
I realized I needed to do something else
with my life. So I changed careers and
made a huge move to Southern California.
I wanted to own a business and work
for myself! I started investigating purchasing
a laundromat by attending the Southern
California Laundry Association’s workshops
and connected with Beverly, who
has become my mentor. That brought me
to the realization that a personalized Fluff n
Fold business was the route for me. I could
work flexible hours according to client’s requests,
work at the church, volunteer, sew,
cook, read, etc. So I opened up a mobile
service in 2015 taking care of clothes from
Long Beach to Mission Viejo, but I was always
looking to expand and when a local
business was up for sale here in Laguna
Beach, I jumped at the chance to own a
brick and mortar shop.
I officially became the new owner of Bay
Cleaners on October 20, 2015, and renaming
it The Laundry Lass--Concierge Dry
Cleaning & Laundry and haven’t looked
back. I provide not only dry cleaning and
laundry (shirt laundry & fluff n’ fold) service
but alterations, hand pressing, shoe/
leather/bag cleaning and repair, area rug
cleaning, including FREE delivery! You
name it, we do it; and, if we can’t do it, I
find someone who can.
Since opening, I have joined the Laguna
Beach Chamber of Commerce and the
Laguna Board of Realtor’s, met a lot of
great people, and am so excited to watch
my business grow as well as my participation
in local community activities.
It may sound weird to some, but I love
opening a neatly folded and organized
linen closet with a beautiful hint of a satisfying
and lovely scent. The Laundry Lass has
arrived! I will give your laundry the love it
deserves!
