The stories are short and sharp, with
plenty of inspiring projects and simple takehome
ideas. Episodes are themed including
potted style, organic pest control, growing
edibles for use in the kitchen and how to
cook them. And, despite their vintage-glam
look, the Gardenettes are not afraid to roll
up their sleeves and get a bit of dirt or flour
under their fingernails.
Each seven-to-10-minute episode features
the girls working in everyday gardens, big and
small, and their own home-style kitchens.
The show is the brainchild of home-grown
garden experts Melissa King and Chloe
Thomson, who believe that a new approach
to viewing and consuming gardening
information is just what’s needed to inspire a
new generation of budding green thumbs.
“Every day the world is becoming more
digital and more mobile. The way we view
shows now is about so much more than just
tuning in to watch live TV,” Chloe says. “We
wanted to create a show that’s fast paced,
fun and fabulous, but still based on down-toearth
gardening principles.” “The sort of thing
people can watch in their own gardens or
kitchens to inspire them,” Melissa adds.
Melissa and Chloe have both been around
the gardening block a few times, having
appeared on some of Australia’s biggest
gardening and lifestyle shows. Melissa has
a degree in horticulture and is a well-known
TV presenter, writer and author. Chloe has
a degree in agricultural science and has

Excitingly, the girls take The Gardenettes
beyond a gardening show, bringing seasonal
and healthy recipes to the table, too, thanks
to the talented Dani Venn. A finalist from
the 2011 season of MasterChef and now
The Wholehearted Cook, Dani’s bubbly
personality and delicious recipes round out
each episode beautifully.
The Gardenettes airs fortnightly via

YouTube channel and the episodes can be
