John’s Jottings Good afternoon everyone welcome to Woodstock Park Our visitors this afternoon are Tooting and Mitcham. They have had an excellent start to the season and will be formidable opponents today. Welcome to their players officials and supporters and we hope they enjoy their short stay with us. Since our last programme we have disappointingly gone out of the Buildbase FA trophy. What was particularly disappointing was that we totally commanded the first half against a team who are riding high in their league ( Ryman North ). After hitting the bar and the post twice in the first 20 minutes I fully expected us to go on and win the tie quite comfortably, however, Bury Town had different ideas. They got a goal with their first attack of the game ( totally against the run of play). The second half was a different story. None of the promise of the first half was fulfilled and a late second half goal sealed our fate and Bury went back to Suffolk £2500 better off after a smash and grab win. Last Saturday we visited Molesey and came away with a 1-1 draw. Our goal was scored by Jordan Gallacher. Missing in this match was Miles Cornwell who has signed for Folkestone Invicta. That is twice now Folkestone have taken our leading goalscorer this season. The first, of course was Harry Smith who has now signed for Millwall. With Harry we got a small payment when he moved to Millwall. Miles was not a contracted player so we had no choice but to let him go. We would not have stood in his way anyway as it was a team from a higher league that came in for him even if we could. Miles was offered a deal that we could not match. We wish Miles good luck at Folkestone. He was a model player for us and would be welcome back any time if it does not work out at Folkestone. Tuesday night it was a visit to Three Bridges. A very entertaining end to end game deserved more spectators than was there. After enduring the Liverpool V Manchester United match on Sunday I couldn’t help thinking that this match was far more entertaining. Three Bridges belied their lowly position and made a real game of it. Both goalkeepers were in great form and it took a late headed goal from Tom Carlse to settle it. Nick has signed a midfield player who has been playing for Corinthian in the SECL. He is also registered for Chatham Town who have now released his Ryman registration. Welcome to Joe Loft. We hope he enjoys his time with us. Well done to Mel Naylor and Christine Lowe for their interview with Pete Flynn on SFM with on Tuesday afternoon. Their passion for the club really came over. Most Fridays at or around mid day I can be heard on BRFM chatting to Peter Finch about the Brickies. KMTV have started a regular sports programme called “Team Talk” Peter and I were featured on the programme that aired on Monday 10th October.
