Double Happiness Jewelry has teamed up<br />
with Project Have Hope, working together<br />
to empower women and children in Uganda’s<br />
Acholi Quarter.<br />
These women, living in the slums outside<br />
of Kampala, have lived through the most<br />
inhuman horrors imaginable during the civil<br />
war with Northern Uganda. Many have seen<br />
their entire families murdered. Others are<br />
widowed and raising children of their own or<br />
children who have been orphaned. Though<br />
their lives have been shattered, these women<br />
live with a grace and strength that is truly<br />
inspirational.<br />
Razi Necklace<br />
Project Have Hope works with these women,<br />
who craft paper beads from recycled magazines<br />
and political ads. Each beads is rolled, then<br />
dipped in a varnish to give it sheen, hardness<br />
and durability. It takes about one day to create<br />
18-20 beads.<br />
