Welcome to the Bridge House
Theatre and Warwick Hall.
It has been an exciting time for us, watching the
spectacular new Warwick Hall take shape.
To celebrate its completion why not join us for
the Grand Opening on 23 rd September
featuring performances from many of our
current and past students. With special guest
Michael Attenborough CBE the event promises to
be a memorable occasion.
As part of our commitment to new
and ground-breaking theatre we are
thrilled to have an exciting new
partnership with Human Zoo
Theatre Company. They have
quickly established themselves to be
one of the UK’s most creative theatre
ensembles and are leading the
development of our very own
Foundations Youth Theatre with a
dynamic programme of workshops
this term (more details on page 27).
To welcome them to Warwick we are hosting their hugely successful show The Girl who Fell in
Love with the Moon on 15 th September.
The Human Zoo team’s most important focus is on finding ways to be playful in the rehearsal
room, whilst making big, slick and energetic work. We hope that this message can be seen as
an invitation to join us to discover new ways of making theatre, with The Zoo’s artistic
director and associate artists bringing our trademark visual theatre, puppetry, actor
musicianship, spoken word, ensemble, comedy and physical theatre into a series of tailored
workshops this term.
The outstanding acoustics of Warwick Hall will be brought to life on 1 st October as we present
a unique concert featuring Roderick Williams alongside the internationally renowned
Orchestra of the Swan and the talented musicians of Warwick School and King’s High
School. Book early for what promises to be a wonderful evening.

If political and historical
theatre is more to your taste
Tony’s Last Tape presented
by Nottingham Playhouse
brilliantly dramatises the
diaries of Tony Benn. Total
Theatre Award nominated
Idle Motion reveal the
power of photography to
expose the tyrannies of
fascism in the Spanish Civil
War in the technically astonishing Shooting with Light.
For sheer theatrical invention combined with a socially
astute narrative, you need look no further than
Award-winning Smoking Apples production of In Our
Hands. Using innovative puppetry, a striking set and an
original score to transport you out to sea, under the ocean
and onto the deck of the Catcher’s Fortune, this is the
story of Alf, the trawler fishermen. Alf is at the top of his
game, but times and the fishing industry are changing fast.
Can he adapt to survive?
As a newly acknowledged Fantastic for Families venue
we are proud to be welcoming two imaginative
productions for younger theatre goers as part of the
National Family Arts Festival this October. Goblin
Theatre’s Penguin! Elephant! is a magical new show about
celebrating differences and Story Pocket bring us Michael
Morpurgo’s King Arthur telling an epic tale of magic, heroism,
love and betrayal.
Warwick and King’s High School’s theatrical
collaborations grow from strength to strength and
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will feature an incredibly
strong cast from both schools. This production will be a
very fresh and dynamic version of one of Shakespeare’s
most popular plays.
More details of all the shows, pictures and videos can be
found on our new website
The Human Zoo Theatre Company
The Girl Who Fell in
Love With The Moon
‘It wasn’t a particularly spectacular night, as she sat
stargazing in her room… ‘
Join this tattered troupe as Luna’s tragic tale unravels for the
first time. But why tonight?
A patchwork of puppetry, poetry, movement and live music
stitched together with The Human Zoo’s explosive visual
imagination. The Girl Who Fell in Love With The Moon sets
out to explore humanity’s eternal fascination with the skies
through the eyes of this playful and dynamic young
ensemble.
The Girl Who Fell in Love With The Moon was selected to
perform as part of WINDOW 2016 at Brighton Fringe, after
the success of their Edinburgh run at The Pleasance, playing
to sell-out houses.
The Human Zoo are the previous winners of the ‘Les Enfants
Idle Motion
Shooting With Light
Since the invention of photography we have collectively
taken over 3.5 trillion photographs. Total Theatre Award
nominated Idle Motion search within these snapshots
to expose one of the most remarkable untold stories of
our age.
It is 1933 and a young German refugee flees to Paris,
reinventing herself as Gerda Taro. Discovering the
wonder of photography, she falls in love with a fellow
refugee who teaches her, ‘if your pictures aren’t good
enough, you aren’t close enough’. Together they venture
to the Spanish Civil War and capture the tyranny of
fascism. As pioneers of frontline photo journalism, he
would go on to receive international recognition as the
iconic war photographer Robert Capa - she would be
forgotten.
Using innovative staging, physicality and multimedia,
internationally renowned company Idle Motion piece
Nottingham Playhouse presents
Tony’s Last Tape
by Andy Barrett
An old man sits in a room faced with a collection of
recording devices that he has collected over his long and
eventful life. He takes out a pipe, peels a banana and
pours himself the first cup of tea of the day…
For more than fifty years he has been recording
everything that has happened to and around him, and as
the years have passed so the burden of this
documentation has grown. And today he has decided to
make his last tape.
Inspired by the diaries of Tony Benn – one of Britain’s
most respected, inspiring but divisive politicians – this
critically acclaimed new play examines the struggle of a
man who knows it may be time to withdraw from the fight,
to let others take over, but doesn’t know how.
Tony’s Last Tape has garnered four and five star reviews
in successful runs at Nottingham Playhouse, Bridge
House Theatre (London), and the Edinburgh Festival
(Pleasance) 2015. Starring Philip Bretherton (best known
as Alastair Deacon in ‘As Time Goes By’).
Warwick School and King’s High School presents
A Midsummer
Night’s Dream
by William Shakespeare
Our senior students will lead a dynamic cast,
directed by Mike Perry and Cat Price, with design by
Judy Reaves. Dream is an insane fairy-go-round of a
play in which, as in a dream, people can turn
themselves invisible and make others fall in love with
the first person they see when they wake. Where a
man thinks he is dreaming of turning into a donkey
when in fact he actually has done. The play is often
seen as a light-hearted romp yet its background of
sparring parents, unrequited love and threats of
violence between rivals brings it greater depth and
resonance.
We will be bringing our customary imagination to the
staging of this wonderful play, so don’t plan on seeing
fairies as you may have seen them before!
Wednesday 16th – Saturday 19th November
7pm, Bridge House Theatre
Follow a fish’s journey from sea to plate, watch a seagull’s
ridiculous attempt to find food and witness a father and son
reunite. In Our Hands will transport you out to sea, under the
ocean and onto the deck of the Catcher’s Fortune.
Using innovative puppetry, a striking set and an original
score, join Alf as he journeys from the depths of despair to
rise again and rescue the life he loves.
do you think you would you cope if it
happened to you?
thrown together by a sudden death,
they find themselves wrestling with the
emotional consequences of this painful
event. These three young people didn’t
go looking for suffering, but suffering
found them anyway. Join them on their
journey and stand side by side with
them as they recover, survive and
maybe even Thrive.
This exciting production for young
people uses humour, movement and
spoken word. Zest Theatre surround
the audience to beautifully portray
the most challenging of emotions with
