PUNO & LAKE TITICACA<br />
Puno city is mostly the unlovely city on the<br />
altiplano, it is a high, wind - cold plateau. It has<br />
one thing going for it that no other place on<br />
earth can claim: The Lake Titicaca, the world's<br />
highest navigable body of water, located at<br />
3,830m (12,566 ft.) above sea level.<br />
Lake Titicaca is also for many Peruvians a<br />
mystical and sacred place. The legend said that<br />
Manco Cápac, the original Inca chieftain has<br />
risen from the lake's waters along with his sister<br />
Mama Ocllo to found the Inca Empire.<br />
