Program 5 days / 4 nights<br />

first day<br />

Arequipa – Toro Muerto – Chuquibamba<br />

town – Pallarcocha Lake – Cotahuasi town<br />

Depart early in the morning (5 am). Today on<br />

our journey we will pass through Corire and<br />

Aplao Valleys, where we will find a suitable place<br />

to have our breakfast at about 7:30 am.<br />

During the drive we will visit the famous<br />

petroglyphs of ”Toro Muerto”, located in the<br />

Majes Valley, where we find about 3000<br />

volcanic rocks with drawings dating back to the<br />

Huari Culture (our visit there takes about 1 ½<br />

hour). On this place will give us the opportunity<br />

to explore the numerous stones and rocks and<br />

their different meanings.<br />

We keep our drive on the Valley of Majes and<br />

pass the many rice cultivations and vineyards of<br />

the region until we arrive the traditional town<br />

of ”Chuquibamba town”, famous for the good<br />

cheese and avocado and where we will have<br />

lunch at a local restaurant.<br />

After Chuquibamba we will enter an area at<br />

4700 meters above sea level and we will have<br />

a stops visit the ”Pallarcocha Lake”, located at<br />

the bottom of the snow-capped ”Coropuna”,<br />

(6425m above sea level).and an ideal place to<br />

observe this impressive volcano close at hand.<br />

(Time for explorer the area and enjoy the view).<br />

It is important to note that snowy Coropuna is<br />

the tallest volcano in Peru. For the Incas it was<br />

the “Apu,” the most important holy mountain in<br />

the south of Peru.<br />

We keep our drive towards Cotahuasi valley<br />

and before we enter to the valley we will have a<br />

short stop at the natural viewpoint of ”Allahuay”<br />

offering an incredible view over the Cotahuasi<br />

valley. We arrive at our lodge in the town of<br />

Cotahuasi late afternonn ( around 18:30 hrs)<br />

second day<br />

Cotahuasi - Puyca town and remains of<br />

Maukallacta - Luicho hot springs.<br />

Today we’ll have a full day excursion toward<br />

Puyca town (3560 m), enjoying the area with<br />

its wild surroundings and deep gorges.<br />

On the route we will visit also the traditional<br />

towns of Tomepampa and Alca, arriving at<br />

Puyca town around midday. We will have<br />

lunch in a local place having chance to share<br />

with local people and its traditional food.<br />

After lunch, we will start our walk up to the<br />

remarkable Inca ruins of Maukallacta (3900M).<br />

From top of the hill we will have time to explorer the area and<br />

have a nice overlook all the valley and canyon giving us<br />

unforgettable experience.<br />

On the way back to Cotahuasi town we’ll visit the thermal<br />

baths of Luicho with the possibility of a relaxing bath in its 35<br />

degree water (Celsius ).<br />

Overnight at our lodge in Cotahuasi town<br />

Third daY<br />

SIPIA Waterfall.<br />

About 7 am we’ll start our visit to the Sipia waterfall.<br />

The 150m high cataract is an impressive natural spectacle<br />

which is located at the lower and warmer regions of<br />

Cotahuasi. On the route to Sipia we will have a hike, crossing<br />

hanging bridges, enjoying the landscape with its unique flora<br />

and fauna and taking a look at the walls of the canyon.<br />

In the afternoon, after returning to Cotahuasi and having a<br />

short rest, we will drive to the village Huaynacotas (2700 m),<br />

whose inhabitants still live deeply rooted in ancient customs<br />

and traditions. Return and overnight in Cotahuasi town..<br />

Four Day<br />

Pampamarca – Forest rock – Uskuni<br />

Today we will start our day very early driving toward to the<br />

town of Pampamarca. (3 hrs of driver aprox.)<br />

Pampamarca is a small village well-known for rugmaking and is<br />

set on a plateau at 3200 m. Before the Sun starts to get<br />

strong we will start our trek up to the spectacular area called<br />

“the Bosque de Piedras” (Forest stone). - three hours aprox of<br />

walk - Time to explore the area and enjoy the view of the<br />

valley and its unique geographic..<br />

After this visit we will get down in town and have our lunch<br />

with a local family or local restaurant. After lunch we exploring<br />

the area visiting the hot springs of Josla (3.5 km), or the 50-<br />

m waterfall of Uskuni. Return to Cotahuasi town and<br />

overnight at lodge..<br />

Five day<br />

After Breakfast we retunr to Arequipa city. On the route will<br />

be time for pictures and take Lunch in a local restaurant.<br />

Arrive to Arequipa bout 6 pm.<br />
