Highlights
Toro Muerto petroglyphs - Andagua Town – The Twin Volcanoes – Chachas town – Colca Valley – Cruz del
Condor view point – Walk from Canocota to la Calera
first day
Departure at 5:30 AM. We will take our
transportation toward the Pan-American
Highway and then to the beautiful Majes valley,
where we will make a stop to have our breakfast
snack.
After breakfast we will continue to the Toro
Muerto’s Petroglyphs, arriving there at 9:30 AM
approximately.
Visit to some of the rocks with interesting
figures and drawings. (Time of visit: 1 hour
aprox). We will continue to Querullpa and visit an
area where dinosaur footprints were found and
have a nice view of the Valley among the sand
hills as well. (Time of visit 1 hour)
After these visits we will look for a place where
we can have our lunch picnic.
We then return to the transportation and start
to drive up to Andagua’s Town, located at
3,800mts. At the beginning we’ll cross a desert
valley with walls that consist of different
geological layers and enjoy the change of the
nature on the route, taking us from desserts to
green and rich valleys. We will cross beautiful
towns such as Tipan, Capiza, Huami, Viraco and
Machaguay. After about 4 hours of driving we
will reach the volcanic pass of the “Coropuna”
(4,900mts), where we will have a majestic view
of Peru’s highest volcano.
We will continue the trip to Chilcaymarca,
Province of Castilla (3,850mts).
Dinner and Lodge at the basic hostel that offers
a private bathroom.
