Torreqaqa (Stone Mountain) or
Saya Saya, which can be seen from
anywhere in the village. We’ll make
a short visit of the town and then
keep driving until we reach the
town of Sibayo, located in the
upper part of Colca, 3,850 meters
above sea level. Its name in
Quechua language is Rumillaqta,
which means “city of stone,” as
nearly all of its streets, houses and
churches are made from this
material, making it one of the
prettiest towns in the valley. In
Sibayo town we will have our lunch
with a local family (Time for sharing,
learn above daily activities etc) and
enjoy the Sibayo cuisine. After
Lunch we will have time for visit the
Plaza and surroundings.
We take again our transportation
and drive until Canocota where we
will start our 2 ½ hr. hike forward to
la Calera.
At the end of the tour we will
arrive to la Calera, where our
transportation will bring us to the
town of Coporaque on the right
side of the Valley, where our Lodge
is located. After this excited day we
have free time to relax rest.
Important: The Hike Canacota – La
Calera is optional. It will depend on
Client’s physical conditions and
acclimatization to altitude.
Dinner in your lodge and short
briefing for the next day activities.
Overnight.
second day
We will have our breakfast very
early in the morning and leave to
the famous “Cruz del Condor” point.
Arrive at “Cruz del Condor” and
have enough time enjoy the deep
view of the Canyon and if weather
permits; majestic pictures of the
flight of the condors. After a
coordinated time, our guide will take
you for a short walk near the
Canyon (1 hour aprox.) On the way
back to Chivay we’re going to visit
the traditional villages of Pinchollo,
Maca and Yanque with the most
beautiful church in the valley. Arrive
to Chivay, capital of the Caylloma
province ( time for exploring and
pictures). Return to your Lodge in
Coporaque for lunch.
Around 14:00 hrs a Coporaque
villager will take you to his/her
home and will plan together with
you the work to be done this
afternoon. We cannot exactly
define what this day will look like as
it depends on the season and
weekday. However, the normal
activities - amongst others- include
support in the fields, herding
animals, the preparation of land for
sowing, and/or harvesting.
Please note: Local people do not
speak English, so be prepared to
use at least some Spanish words as
well as speaking with your hands.
After this interesting activity your
hosting family will bring you to the
Hot springs of Coporaque to enjoy
a relaxing bath. Finish this visit our
transport we will bring you back to
the lodge.
Dinner and overnight in your lodge.
“A bit of Everything”
third day
Breakfast at 06:30 am. Today we’ll
drive toward to Puno city on Lake
Titicaca. On the route we will visit a
Stone forest, interesting rock
formations that have been eroded
over millions of years by the wind,
rain and humidity. (Here we will
have a short walk to reach the
forest).
After this visit we keep our route
making stops on the route for
pictures like for example at
Lagunillas Lagoons, where if we are
lucky maybe get some pictures of
Andean Flamingos and Andean
Duck and birds.
Continue with the driving we will
reach the town of Lampa, a tiny
town located about 25 kilometers
from Juliaca, inside Puno´s
highlands.
The Santiago Apostol Church, built
in stone is one of the most
important buildings of the town of
Lampa and here you will find a
replica of the masterpiece of
Michelangelo; “La Pieta”, capping a
stunning black marble mausoleum
of Mr. Torres.
