Highlights
Our excursion is designed for travelers who would like to
explore another side of the Colca Canyon without missing
any highlights of the region. Those travelers that enjoy
sharing activities with local people, short hikes and have
different experiences.
In this excursion Giardino shares with you a little bit of all
the wonders and beauty of the Colca valley, while
supporting the local economy and shows you the great
hospitality of its people
National Reserve of Pampa Canahuas – The “Window “ view point – Caves of Mollepunko Town of Callalli – Town of
Sibayo – Optional hike Canocota / La Calera – Town of Coporaque – Cruz del condor View point – Town of Chivay
- Shared half day with a villager – Hot springs in Coporaque – Town of Lampa on the route to Puno.
first day
Our departure will be at 7:30 am from Arequipa,
driving around 190 km to the town of
Coporaque. At the beginning of our excursion
we will enjoy the majestic views of the Misti,
Chachani and PichuPichu volcanoes before
approaching the National Reserve of “Pampa
Cañahuas”, where our vehicle will make a short
stop to observe the wild vicuñas (one of the 4
types of South American camelids) in its natural
habitat. At this point we will be about 3,400
meters above sea level.
We keep driving forward to the upper part of
the valley observing in our journey the natural
scenery formed by different lakes and have a over view
of the place from La Ventana (a rock formation called:
the Window). – On the route we will have many stops
for pictures and enjoy the surrounding.
Our guide will offer an optional hike to the Caves of
Mollepunko (recommended), In these caves we will
appreciates artistic remains (Carvings and paintings)
developed by the first inhabitants of the area,
dedicated to hunting and gathering. (This walk takes
around 1, 50 hrs). After this visit we return to our
transport and continue with our excursion observing
on the route huge rock formations called “Los Castillos
de Callalli” (The Callalli’s castles).
We will arrive to the traditional town of Callalli; with its
charming plaza and a wonderful view of the Mount
