ABOUT THE DISTRICT
Encompassing a total of 860 square
miles, the District was formed in 1972 to
serve both the communities of Huron
and Coalinga.
With a total population of 27,000
people, CHRPD is responsible for the
maintenance and operation related to
special events, activities, sports and
recreation programs for youth and
adults that takes place in four parks
(totaling over 50 acres of land), two
community centers, two fitness centers,
one senior center, two pools, and an
LLMD (Landscape Lighting Maintenance
District).
CHRPD also runs Camp Yeager (which
holds about 125 people) in Cambria.
CHRPD says good-bye to General Manager, Mark Honberger,
as he pursues new challenges for him and his family. Mark has
been a part of CHRPD since March of 2012, and during that
time he has lead the District in many great changes. The
CHRPD Board of Directors and staff would like to thank Mark for
his years of service and wish him only the best in the future.
During the next few weeks the CHRPD Board of Directors will
be recruiting for a qualified replacement to assume the General
Manager position. The Board has hired an interim General
Manager to fill the position during this search. The interim is
Roger Campbell, who has recently retired as the Superintendent
of the Coalinga-Huron Unified School District. Roger is very familiar
with the District, has been a lifelong member, served as a
CHRPD Board Director, and worked for the District in his early
years. His primary focus will be working with the Board in preparation
for the November 8 th Bond election.
The future can get brighter for CHRPD with your help.

Coalinga-Huron Recreation and Park District

CHRPD has placed Measure N on the ballot for the election this Fall. Measure N is a $14.9 million bond
(a $19 tax rate per $100,000 of assessed value) that will repair, upgrade, and renovate parks and recreation
facilities in Coalinga and Huron. The measure will need a 67% approval rating (two-thirds) in order to pass.
The Board has prepared a project list representing our park’s most critical needs.
