The business community of New Lenox is diverse. From small, independent retailers to national chains to a thriving
industrial presence, New Lenox has the ability to meet the varied needs of its business community.
Commercial
New Lenox has all of the components that provide for a healthy
commercial/retail economy. In 2015, 40 new businesses opened
and New Lenox had 162 residential
housing permits issued, the highest
number in Will County. The rapid
population growth in the area is
resulting in the location of regional
and national retailers along Route
30 and Laraway Road.
The future looks bright for continued
growth as the economy improves.
The interchange at I-355 and
Route 6 near Silver Cross Hospital
is positioned to capitalize on the
availability of land and increasing
traffic in the area. Heightened interest has been received for
property at this interchange.
The Village is redeveloping one of its main intersections in the
Village at Route 30 and Cedar Road. An 8,400 SF building that
will house Durbin’s Restaurant, Fleckenstein’s Bakery, and Zembar
Jewelers is expected to be completed in 2017. A CVS will also
be built on property west of the 8,400 SF building. Plans put
in place pro-actively by the Village form the framework for such
projects and others along Route 30.
Industrial
New Lenox has a strong industrial foundation anchored by Cherry
Hill Business Park. Located only 35 miles from downtown Chicago
and within 5 miles of the CenterPoint Intermodal facility, New
Lenox is the perfect choice for industrial users. Transportation
access is key to any successful project in this market and New
Lenox offers direct interstate access to I-80 and is only 11 miles
from both I-55 and I-57, affording ease of travel in any direction.
Rail access is another advantage to New Lenox when being
considered for industrial sites.
