Safety
New Lenox prides itself on the exceptional caliber of its police and fire departments. Both go above and beyond to
ensure the safety of all residents and anyone visiting the New Lenox area.
New Lenox Police Department
The Village of New Lenox Police Department’s primary objective
is to affirmatively promote a feeling of safety and security to the
members of the New Lenox community. Each member of the
Police Department is committed to providing a high level of law
enforcement services to residents, businesses and visitors. The
NLPD strives to enhance its relationship within the community by
conducting and participating in events throughout the year which
directly benefit the citizens of the village.
The Police Department is organized into two divisions: Police
Operations and Administration. These divisions led by the Police
Chief and two Deputy Police Chiefs provide efficient and effective
law enforcement service to the residents of New Lenox. Additionally,
the public safety component, coordinated by the Public Safety
Division Chief, offers ancillary programs and services to New Lenox
citizens that have proven to be of great value.
The Department offers the ability to register online for community/
emergency alerts. Additionally, they offer many opportunities for
involvement as a resident through the Citizen’s Police Academy,
CERT (Citizen’s Emergency Response Team) and ESDA (Emergency
Services & Disaster Agency). Please contact the Department at
815.462.6100 for more information.
New Lenox Fire Protection District
The New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) has four fire
stations which cover 36 square miles of the Village of New Lenox,
New Lenox Township, as well as parts of Frankfort, Mokena, Joliet
and Homer Glen. The firefighters of the NLFPD are dedicated to
the safety of the communities they serve, training everyday on
various skills and techniques for both fire and EMS. The NLFPD is
proud that nearly 100% of the NLFPD firefighters have advanced
their skills from EMT to paramedics. On top of their mandated
training, many of the firefighters and paramedics continue to train
for additional certifications in skills such as: technical rescues,
water rescue, and HAZMAT.
In addition to providing fire and ambulance services, NLFPD offers
