A VICTIM OF AUTO
CRIME
1. Hide your valuables
from plain sight to avoid
attracting thieves.
2. Lock your vehicle and
take your keys. Approximately 50% of vehicles stolen were left unlocked.
3. Never hide a second set of keys in or on your vehicle.
4. Park in well-lighted areas or attended lots. More than half of all vehicle thefts
occur at night. Auto thieves tend to target unattended parking lots.
5. Never leave your vehicle running, even if you will only be away for a minute.
Vehicles are commonly stolen at convenience stores, gas stations, ATMs, etc.
Many vehicles are also stolen on cold mornings when the owner leaves the
vehicle running to warm up. Leaving your key in an unattended motor vehicle
is a crime in Texas.
6. Don’t leave documents with important personal details such as title or
insurance card in your vehicle. A thief can use these to sell your stolen vehicle.
File the title and registration receipt at your home or office and carry your
insurance card in your purse or wallet.
7. Park with your wheels turned toward the curb and use your emergency brake,
making your vehicle less easy to tow away. Wheels should also be turned to the
side in driveways and parking lots.
8. Your vehicle may be more vulnerable when you park outside. If you have a
garage, use it. Lock your garage as well as your vehicle’s doors.
9. Disable your vehicle when leaving it unattended for an extended period.
Remove the electronic ignition fuse, coil wire or distributor rotor or otherwise
disable your vehicle any time thieves may have extended access to it.
10. Engrave your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or personal I.D. number
on expensive accessories and parts. Stolen vehicles/parts are more easily
traced when VINs have been etched on vehicle windows, major parts and
expensive accessories.
11. Have an ignition or fuel kill switch installed by someone who is qualified.
Ignition kill switches can be used to stop the vehicle from starting. A fuel kill
switch cuts off the flow of fuel when the switch is off.
12. Get locking devices for inside your vehicle. Visible steering wheel locks
prevent the steering wheel from being turned properly. Gas or brake pedal
locks disable the fuel and braking functions. Gearshift locks disable shifting
of the transmission by locking it in place. Tire/wheel locks wrap around the
wheel and prevent the vehicle from moving. Hood locks prevent the thief from
gaining access to your security system and battery. An armored collar around
the steering column protects the column and ignition.
13. Get alarm systems for your vehicle. Alarms emit a loud warning sound when
the door, hood or trunk are opened. Optional sensors include glass breakage,
motion tampering and towing. Panic buttons, back-up batteries, flashing
parking lights or headlights and automatic engine disable features are also
recommended.
14. Get a vehicle tracker, which is usually a silent device that can be hidden in
a vehicle to transmit a signal that allows the vehicle’s location to be tracked.
BUYING A USED VEHICLE
15. Be suspicious of any deal that seems “too good to be true”. Do your
homework using a reliable resource to research the vehicle.
16. Use online resources to check the vehicle’s history by using the VIN.
Information and links to these websites are provided on the TxDMV.gov
website. You may also check NICB.org (National Insurance Crime Bureau) to
ensure the vehicle has not been stolen, flooded or deemed unrepairable. The
information you find may affect the value of the vehicle and may even tell
you whether it has been found unsafe for use on roadways. Remember that
uninsured vehicles or vehicles stolen in other countries will not appear in these
databases so you still need to use caution.
17. Seller’s Credibility. Ask the seller for references about past financing
and insurance on the vehicle. Verify the information with the bank, finance

DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS
DOGS: Please remember barking can be a nuisance to your neighbors. Do your best to be respectful of the
noise level on your property. Pets must be kept on a leash when walking and don’t forget pick up after them.
LOUD NOISE/MUSIC: Domestic neighbor noise, such as DIY work or loud music, is the most common cause
of noise complaint. It is advisable to take steps to resolve the problem yourself before filing a complaint with
the management company, such as speaking face-to-face or writing a letter to your neighbor to explain how
you are affected. If you have been unable or not felt comfortable with resolving a problem with domestic
neighbor noise, please call Top Gun at 281-905-2522 or 713-907-2744, so they may ask your neighbor to lower
the noise.
TRASH: As a friendly reminder trash days are on Mondays and Thursdays for Stone Gate and Wednesdays
and Saturdays for Canyon Lakes West.
TREES: Dead trees and/or missing trees are a violation of your deed restrictions. If tree stakes are not attached
to the tree or if the ties are an inch or two into the tree - they need to be removed. Thank you for helping to
keep our community a beautiful place to live!
FISHING IN THE LAKES: Not permitted at any time. Please refrain from this activity.
BASKETBALL GOALS IN STREET: While basketball goals are permitted in your driveway while being used,
they are not allowed in the streets. Please refrain from blocking the ingress/egress of traffic or emergency
vehicles.

PARKING IN THE STREETS
Homeowners please be aware S-G Owners Association has a
Parking Policy for the community. PMG Houston will continue
to enforce the Rules for the policy as they complete inspections
or the violation is reported to them. If a vehicle is parked in
violation the POA has the right to fine per incident after a
warning notice, fines start at $50 and go up to $100 per violation,
every 11 days it is reported. Also, in the gated sections of the
community, the POA has the right to tow the vehicle at the
vehicle owner’s expense. If you have extenuating circumstances
and need to park on the street, please send a written detailed
request to the Mike Graves. This will be reviewed by the Board
at the next available Board Meeting.
Parking is only allowed in the street during daylight hours only
when the driveway can hold no additional vehicles. This includes,
but not limited to; residents, guests/visitors, caregivers, home
health care providers and domestic help vehicles. Vehicles that are
excluded are vehicles that are providing a routine service to the
home, for example, marked construction workers, landscapers,
plumbers or any other commercial visitor vehicle that is marked
for commercial use. Also, excluded is official law enforcement/
emergency vehicles.
If a vehicle is parked in violation please provide a photo of the
vehicle in question and the driveway showing space available,
the property address and the date and time of the violation to the
Property Manager, Mike Graves, at mgraves@pmghouston.com.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE
Assist the community in creating, implementing and supporting events and activities.
These events include, “Egg”stravaganza, Ladies Brunch & Trunk Show, Cookies with
Santa and more!
LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE
The primary role is to support a social club for landscaping ideas, also known as
the Garden Club. They are responsible for inviting horticulture guest speakers for
community events and sharing a general interest in landscaping. They also assist with
the Holiday Decoration Yard Contest.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
To assist the community in creating, implementing and supporting communication
efforts including the newsletter, intranet and section leaders and block captains. They
also assist with the Holiday Decoration Yard Contest.
TRAFFIC/SAFETY COMMITTEE
Assists with safety and awareness within the community, making recommendations
to the Board for placement of stop signs and speed humps.
ADOPT A SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Provides recommendations to the Board of Directors for the donation of AAS funds to
the schools within that community for educational school items, such as computers,
library books, etc. These funds also may be allotted for enhancements within the
community such as sidewalks, playground areas or other improvements that will
benefit the students of the community.

Twenty-three talented
musicians make up this
year’s drumline including
12 new members and nine
seniors. The group is once
again led by CCS Music
Director Luke Kirkwood
and has been busy this fall
with school-wide events, games and preparation for competition. Mr. Kirkwood and musicians are
very thankful for the generous donations of additional instruments and the new trailer that allows
them to travel more comfortably to away games and competition. At Blue & White Night 2016, the
Warrior drumline added to the atmosphere by playing at the annual back-to-school event while CCS
parents, students and alumni enjoyed a fun evening of celebration and dedication.
On Friday nights this fall, CCS football fans hear the Warrior drumline adding to the home field
advantage for the football team and creating an exciting atmosphere of school spirit for the fans.
Every time the Warriors score, the drumline celebrates by playing a cadence titled “Sixteen Tons.”
Also, the drumline performs at half-time for every home game. After taking second place at the
TAPPS drumline competition last year, the Warrior drumline will compete again this year. Due to
the growth of the group, they will compete in a higher division, so hard work lies ahead. However,
the Warrior drumline is up for the challenge. Their goal is to always bring glory and honor to God
through their music.

KVPAC’S 1 ST ANNUAL WICKED WEEKEND
KVPAC Hosts a Hair-raising Apocalyptic Zombie Run
The undead will soon be swarming all over KVPAC as it masses its first ever
5K KVPAC Undead Zombie Run 2016 this fall. The teeming begins Saturday,
October 29, 2016 at 10 AM and kicks off a plethora of ghoulishly fun events at
KVPAC’s 1 st Annual Wicked Weekend, sponsored by Covering Katy! Activities
include a costume parade and contest, an in-door arts and crafts fair, an outdoor
Trunk or Treat market and a two-night Haunted House attraction.
Located at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center Complex at 2501 S Mason
Rd, Ste. 290, KVPAC is a community center right in Katy’s own beautiful
backyard. The run promises to be the most affordable family fun run in the
country at only $35 per person or $100 for a Team of 4. All proceeds will
be donated to KVPAC programming Fostering a Life-long Love of the Arts!
Runners of all ages will endure a 5K run through a zombie-infested course,
testing one’s speed, endurance and strength while trying to avoid ravenous
zombies! Jr Runners (under age 10) are welcome, but must be accompanied
