Deposit
Tomorrow is the deadline for the youth to
pay a $1500AUD deposit in order to book the
ticket to Poland. The previous deadline (March
28, 2016) to bring the passports to us resulted
of reducing the number of people going to
Poland to forty (from 110 people). Still forty
people are a lot. However, up to today we
have 22 people who brought “some” money.
Some of them brought 50 or 60 dollars and
4 people actually brought $1500. This deposit
was only an attempt because a total cost of the
pilgrimage is $5600AUD. Regardless, we were
truly encouraging them not to lose faith. We
were inviting them to do fundraising and to
ask for help from people around them. It was
amazing how boldly they were going to different
businesses asking for money. It is important
to note that the <strong>Kiribati</strong> youth are extremely
shy. In spite of the difficulties, their desire was
strong. Truly $5600 looks like a mountain
which is impossible to overcome.

Good News!
Phone call from Fr. Antonio Medeiros (my
rector in Boston):
Fr. Tony: “Przemek, I have something very
important to tell you.”
Przemek: (in my head) “Oh, I must have done
something wrong. Probably I forgot to leave
some important information for the upcoming
Gala Dinner, for the guys who are now working
with the graphic design for the Ad Journal.”
Przemek: “Yes, I am listening.”
Fr. Tony: “How many people are going to
Poland?”
Przemek: Four! But, listen, this is a miracle
already, a big miracle because it’s very difficult
here and people are very poor…
Fr. Tony: Ok. Do you remember the letter you
wrote to Cardinal O’Malley and the letter you
sent to Fr. Rodney J. Copp (the Director of the
Pontifical Missions Society), asking for help
regarding WYD 2016 to Poland?”
Przemek: “Yes …”
Fr. Tony: “The Archdiocese of Boston will
sponsor 10 youth from <strong>Kiribati</strong> going to
Poland!”
Przemek: [I went ballistic! I was jumping and
shouting in front of the people. I did not care.
I was so happy!]
Important note: It is amazing how God likes to
wait till the last moment! (I will have a serious
conversation with God regarding this if I get
to Heaven). Tomorrow we need to fly to Guam
and that is why it is so crucial to finalize the list
today. With this support we can try to purchase
some more tickets. So far we have been able to
get them for only the four youth who paid the
full deposit. Today, in the late evening, two more
girls came with full deposit for their ticket. This
made the total number of youth who brought a
deposit, or at least “some” money, to 24.
