Today it has an 11-acre campus and is licensed as a 170-bed acute care facility. Improved access to physicians and specialties Committed to meeting the growing medical needs of the River Valley well into the future, Saint Mary’s Regional Health System has aggressively recruited more than a dozen family medicine and specialty physicians in the last three years. This brings the total of active physicians on the medical staff to more than 100, representing more than 24 medical specialties. In addition, physician assistants and nurse practitioners have joined the hospital’s network of clinics and the hospital emergency department to serve higher patient volumes, improve accessibility and reduce wait times. “Improving accessibility to safe, quality healthcare is an ongoing goal of Saint Mary’s Regional Health System. Recognized for quality and safety Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has significantly enhanced the healthcare technology available to the River Valley community this year, and remains committed to investing in superior systems and ensuring longterm access to quality care for patients in the River Valley and beyond. The hospital’s dedication to patient safety is evidenced by an “A” Hospital Safety Score – one of only three “A” rankings awarded in Arkansas – this past Fall. Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety, and is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families. “Saint Mary’s is once again proud to be considered among the safest hospitals in Arkansas and the nation,” stated Davidson. “This national distinction is a reflection of our physicians and staff and their focused efforts to ensure our patients receive safe, quality care. There is no doubt that our team of dedicated professionals is committed to improving patient outcomes and it is this commitment that makes Saint Mary’s the patients’ choice for healthcare in our region.” Cardiac and Vascular Care Center – Leadership, Physicians & Technology Investing nearly $3 million in life-saving cardiac and limb-saving catheterization technologies, Saint Mary’s boasts two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Labs for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and vascular procedures. Heart disease kills more people than any other disease and continues to be the No. 1 cause of deaths in Arkansas and accounts for about 26% of deaths each year in our state. Saint Mary’s has assembled a dedicated team of cardiac specialists and cardiologists devoted to dramatically decreasing this statistic. The highly-trained group of boardcertified cardiologists include Medical Director, Dr. Sastry Prayaga and Dr. Ravishankar Kalaga, both interventional cardiologists, plus Drs. Dai-Yuan Wang and Shuja Rasool, invasive cardiologists. Together, these physicians bring the latest cardiac and vascular care to the people of the River Valley. Improved efficiencies in the Emergency Department Saint Mary’s Emergency Department provides care to almost 30,000 patients each year. To better serve the growing populations, Saint Mary’s has implemented Lean processes to improve the patient’s experience and care in the Emergency Department. An urgent care track has also been added for those patients with less acuity. As a result of these measures, wait times and length of stay times have significantly decreased. “We are working diligently to prepare for the anticipated influx of patients we expect after the first of the year,” explained Carol Gore, Saint Mary’s Chief Nursing Officer. “It’s about far more than providing faster care to more people. Our focus is on providing better, safer care and our “A” ranking for patient safety is evidence of that.” Millard-Henry Clinic to offer additional access Millard-Henry Clinic, part of the Saint Mary’s clinical network, is one of the largest multi-specialty clinics in Arkansas. Built at a cost of $6.2 million, the new three-story, 48,000 square foot, patient-friendly building is designed to promote more efficient patient access and optimize patient wait time. This translates into more available appointments and reduced wait times for patients. The clinic houses 30 medical practices including specialties in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, Pulmonology, General and Reconstructive Surgery. To schedule an appointment at Millard- Henry Clinic call 479-968-2345. In addition to traditional appointments with a primary care physician, Millard-Henry will expand its hours of operation and offer an immediate access clinic with hours from 8:00am – 8:00pm.
