jork exhibition bjork in a headset A new virtual reality exhibition at Somerset House sees Bjork pushing the boundaries of technology yet again. Virtual reality is still in its infancy. As a visual medium it can be clunky, confusing for the senses, and of course you have to wear those annoying headsets. But in the hands of an artist like pop singer Bjork – never afraid to embrace new technology – it can also be very intriguing. Her new exhibition at Somerset House mines VR for all it’s worth, combining film, art and technology in one huge bombardment of the senses. It also happens to plug magnificently the Icelandic singer’s 2015 album Vulnicura. Visitors are led through the exhibition in timed groups so that the headsets in each room can operate in sync. While some of the technology is temperamental, the variety of the VR films on offer is impressive. One room sees the quirky singer where to, parker? 43
