Foreword
13-14
oct
On behalf of ETIS, I am pleased to invite you to our Community
Gathering 2016. The Gathering will be organized in Zagreb,
Croatia on 13-14 October at the Esplanade Hotel. The theme of
the ETIS Community Gathering 2016 is: “Delivering the Digital
Transformation Promise”.
Digital Transformation is indeed upon the
telecom industry. We need to re-invent
ourselves to outperform our competitors,
to become more profitable, improve
customer experience, to generate more
revenue and to drive efficiency in our
products and processes. This makes the
telecom industry a dynamic and very
exciting one.
Things (IoT) provides huge opportunities,
beyond the pure connectivity role for a telco.
In order to execute its digital transformation
strategy the telecom industry will need to
have a clear position with respect to IoT,
open APIs, Big Data (including Security
and Data Privacy), SDN/NFV’s Dev/Ops and
micro-services technologies.
This will be complemented by the Digital
Innovation Approach of Swisscom, which
will be presented by Markus Messerer, Head
of Corporate Strategy. Gordana Kovacevic,
CEO of Ericsson Nicola Tesla Group will then
provide her view on Digital Transformation
for the Telco Industry. The session will end
with an interactive wrap-up and Q&A with
the whole audience.
From surveys and interviews we held with
our members earlier this year, it became
clear that all of our members are embracing
digital transformation: self-care, e-sales.
e-billing and back-office process automation
are on everybody’s agenda to reach the
corporate objectives. Our members have an
omni-channel ambition eventually leading
towards a single customer journey through
all channels.
Telcos can also help other industries to
digitally transform themselves: cities, health,
finance and manufacturing will undergo
huge changes the next decade. Telcos can
help provide the necessary connectivity,
platforms, even services to materialize smart
cities, e-health, smart payments and the
fourth industrial revolution. The Internet of
All of these topics are at the heart of our
new ETIS Strategy, which I will present
during the Common Session of our
Gathering. Our Working Group meetings
will also address the relevant topics for each
of them during the Gathering and in their
subsequent meetings. The Management
Board of ETIS has also decided to set-up
a new Working Group, the Innovation
Working Group and a new Task Force, the
Data Privacy Task Force. Both initiatives will
be kicked-off in Zagreb.
The morning Common Session of
our Gathering will feature a Keynote
presentation from Davor Tomaskovic, CEO
of Hrvatski Telekom, who will provide
insights into how Hrvatski Telekom is
digitally transforming itself.
The remainder of day 1 and day 2 will be
dedicated to Working Group sessions. We
have organized joint sessions of Working
Groups to get a better understanding and
collaboration between the ETIS Working
Groups. On Friday we will visit Ericsson
Nicola Tesla facilities to get demos of digital
transformation use cases.
The Gathering is an ideal opportunity
for all of the ETIS members, Associates
and Partners to get to network with one
another, learn about each other’s activities,
plans, best practices and why not, discuss
partnerships.
