SPEAKER PROFILES<br />

Dr Shabnam Berry-Khan, BSc(Hons), PhD, DCl<strong>in</strong>Psy,<br />

Director, PsychWorks Associates<br />

Shabnam has been work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the NHS, the voluntary sector and<br />

privately with clients across the lifespan with a range of difficulties<br />

for over 10 years. She is co-director of PsychWorks Associates, a<br />

psychology service that provides support to the <strong>in</strong>dividual, families,<br />

systems and professional networks <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> the medico-legal<br />

context. Shabnam also has extensive child development and ‘psychology<br />

<strong>in</strong> schools’ experience with the NHS. Shabnam provides consultation to<br />

professional teams, as well as tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to <strong>in</strong>dividuals, groups and a variety<br />

of organisations. Shabnam has published various papers and presented at<br />

different events.<br />

Krist<strong>in</strong>e Scott, Partner, Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ <strong>Education</strong> Team’<br />

Krist<strong>in</strong>e is a Partner and Head of <strong>Education</strong> at Harrison Clark Rickerbys;<br />

the firm are nationally recognised for their expertise <strong>in</strong> the education<br />

sector. Krist<strong>in</strong>e is trusted by schools and colleges to support them with<br />

‘people’ matters which range from staff issues to parent and pupil issues<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g special educational needs and disability discrim<strong>in</strong>ation, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

support<strong>in</strong>g schools through the SEN Tribunal process.<br />

Chris Davies, <strong>Education</strong>alist and Headteacher<br />

Chris has worked <strong>in</strong> <strong>Education</strong> for over 36 years, for the majority of<br />

that time with pupils display<strong>in</strong>g Complex Special <strong>Education</strong>al Needs. In<br />

his role as Headteacher/Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal of one of the largest Special Schools/<br />

Academies <strong>in</strong> the country he ga<strong>in</strong>ed many valuable experiences which<br />

have <strong>in</strong>formed his practice as a Consultant to Schools and Local<br />

Authorities. He currently provides advice and support <strong>in</strong> many key<br />

areas <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g: School/Academy Development, Management support<br />

and development and Curriculum Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Development. The<br />

Government’s recent consultation papers provide many challenges for<br />

schools <strong>in</strong> the years to come and hopes to be able to support schools<br />

with the issues they face now and <strong>in</strong> the future.<br />

Dr Claire Mould, CEO, OPENhouse<br />

Claire started her career as a teacher. She then went on to be a senior<br />

research fellow complet<strong>in</strong>g her PhD specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> neurology; specifically<br />

explor<strong>in</strong>g the underly<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>k between emotional well-be<strong>in</strong>g and cognitive<br />

<strong>in</strong>telligence. In 2000 Claire set up her own tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and development<br />

company; work<strong>in</strong>g with community outreach groups enabl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dividuals<br />

who found higher education <strong>in</strong>accessible to ga<strong>in</strong> formal qualifications;<br />

rang<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>in</strong>itial certificates to MAs. In 2010 Claire became the<br />

CEO of OPENhouse. This is a charity that provides hous<strong>in</strong>g, education<br />

and complex mental health support for young homeless people and<br />

vulnerable <strong>in</strong>dividuals.<br />

Nick Gazzard, BSc Hons, Dip CII, MInstLM, Nick Gazzard Consult<strong>in</strong>g Ltd<br />

Follow<strong>in</strong>g the murder of his daughter Hollie by her former partner <strong>in</strong><br />

February 2014, Nick felt strongly that someth<strong>in</strong>g positive should come<br />

out of Hollie’s death and created the Hollie Gazzard Trust (HGT).<br />

Nick is determ<strong>in</strong>ed to try and prevent similar tragedies by <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g<br />

awareness of domestic abuse and stalk<strong>in</strong>g and the devastat<strong>in</strong>g effects<br />

it causes. <strong>Mental</strong> ill health is a major concern for Nick and he discusses<br />

the implications and signs of this. Nick has been a Keynote Motivational<br />

Speaker and has spoken at a variety of conferences and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g events<br />

nationwide. Nick has appeared on ITV’s ‘Tonight’ programme, ‘This<br />

Morn<strong>in</strong>g’, BBC Radio 4 ‘Today’ and a variety of local TV and radio.<br />

Dr Rachel Gillibrand, C Psychol, <strong>Health</strong> Psychologist<br />

Rachel is a Chartered Psychologist specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the application of<br />

psychology to health and well-be<strong>in</strong>g. She is registered as a practitioner<br />

psychologist with the <strong>Health</strong> and Care Professions Council and is<br />

an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Rachel has<br />

experience of work<strong>in</strong>g with a wide range of anxiety-related conditions,<br />

depression, phobias and eat<strong>in</strong>g behaviours.<br />

The Ease Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Team offers practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for Trustees, School<br />

Governors and Senior Leaders. We arrange <strong>in</strong>duction and top-up events,<br />

cover<strong>in</strong>g a variety of current aspects of governance. The Trustee events<br />

outl<strong>in</strong>e the statutory duties of a trustee, based on the latest law, and then<br />

relate the duties to the practical duties and behaviours expected from<br />

a modern Trustee, with examples and practical scenarios. Ideal for new<br />

Trustees and Trustees that need a refresher.<br />
