Campbell is a real estate developer in Lowell, Mass. He has been involved in<br />

the Thoroughbred industry since 1982 and has bred or raced more than 50<br />

stakes winners, including 1996 Arlington Million winner Marlin, Blazing Sword<br />

and Ivanavinalot, the dam of top filly Songbird. Campbell owns Stonehedge<br />

Farm South in Williston, Fla., where he stands Factum, Big Bad Barnie and<br />

Revolving. Gilbert and his wife, Marilyn, have formed a highly successful<br />

partnership with two-time leading Tampa Bay Downs trainer Kathleen<br />

O’Connell. Their homebred filly, Scandalous Act, competed in the 2013<br />

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita after sweeping all three races of<br />

the Florida Stallion Stakes series for fillies. Campbell bred and owned Watch<br />

Me Go, the 2011 Grade II Tampa Bay Derby winner which ran in that year’s<br />

Kentucky Derby. In 1997, Campbell was honored as Outstanding Owner/<br />

Breeder of the Year in the nation by Thoroughbred Owners’ and Breeders’<br />

Association and Florida Breeder of the Year by the Florida Thoroughbred<br />

Breeders’ and Owners’ Association. In 1988, Campbell purchased Waldemar<br />

Farm in Williston and renamed it Stonehedge Farm South. It is one of the<br />

premier full-service farms in Florida for breeding, training and breaking horses.<br />

Campbell keeps about 200 horses at the farm, including stallions, broodmares,<br />

weanlings, yearlings and lay-ups, and another 20-30 at the track. Campbell<br />

serves on the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association Board<br />
