Welcome back to school and to the 2016-2017 school year!
I have been so pleased and proud to see how happy the
children are at the start of the new term. So smart, happy
and ready to learn. They are a credit to you all! We are
looking forward to another fantastic year of working
together with you to support you as ‘first educators’ of your

classrooms were you can come and hear about learning for
the year and see some teaching in the classrooms. Come
armed with questions too! The first one is Y6’s on Friday
16th September.
Of course you will have noticed the on going building work
around the school. I want to say a huge thank you to the
whole school staff who worked so hard to get the school
ready. Coming back to building work over the last 4 years
summer holidays means that they are un-phased and can
handle almost anything! Thank you all!
Can I remind you that we do not allow earrings or jewellery
in school. All earrings and jewellery should be removed
from your children before they enter the school. Can I also
send a message about hair cuts - please remember that
boy’s hair shouldn’t be longer than the collar and it
shouldn’t have big differences in length either. I believe this
is sometimes called a Liam Payne hair cut. Of course I don’t
have much experience of different hair styles anymore! If
you could please check out the uniform policy on the next
couple of pages and bring hair cuts in line with our policy
over the weekend. I will begin checks at the whole school
assembly on Monday.

Beat the Street is returning! On Monday morning
James from BTS will come to speak to the children
about this terms competition. All of the children are
very excited about taking part again. You’ll
remember their enthusiasm and their drive won us
both parts of the competition when it ran earlier in
the year. It’s a really good opportunity to leave
the car at home and get walking/scooting/cycling
to school - not just for BTS but for the whole year
too. We would also like to continue the Mile a Day
which ran during sports’ week. This would be held
at Redlees - we’d need parent helpers. If you are
interested and able please speak to Mr Lawlor or
me.

The Senior Leadership Team comprises Mr Farley Marsh (Head), Mrs
Williams (Acting Deputyhead and KS2 lead), Mrs Formby and Mrs Bedell.
Mrs Lorraine Gardner, Mrs Jenny Whyms and Mr Sam Pipola run the
administrative side of the school. Mr Kirk Gray is our caretaker.
Our dinner ladies (SMSAs) are: Mrs Squillaci (Lead and First Aider), Mrs
Debbie Bentley, Mrs Shirley Brown, Mrs Michelle Hirdle, Mrs Khalida Ali,
Mrs Tetyana Petruk, Miss Natasha Phillips, Mrs Lilana McCaw, Mrs Janet

- Miss Green, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Michelle Doyle).

Apologies for the ParnetPay issues this week. You will now be able to book
and pay for meals as normal. On Monday we start week 2 of the term. If
your Junior (Y3-6) child had a lunch on Wed, Thurs or Fri you may be in
debit. Please log on and clear the debt. Remember all infant children have
the cooked lunch. Junior children can have them as many times a week as
they want. You can make choices up until 11:30pm of the night before the
meal will be eaten.

Pupil Premium Grants
The Pupil Premium Grant is additional Government funding which is allocated to
schools to work with pupils who have been registered for benefit-related free school
meals, or whose parents have been in receipt of any of the benefits listed overleaf, at
any point in the last six years.
In 2014-15 the Pupil Premium Grant equates to £1,300 per pupil, which comes direct
to our school.
The Pupil Premium Grant remains with the pupil for six years from their first period
of entitlement – a significant chunk of funding for our school. This grant could be
worth £9,100 during the course of a child’s education here.
In particular since the introduction of Universal Free School Meals for all children in
the Infants, the Pupil Premium grants are not being claimed for many children who
are entitled to them. Across London alone, Department for Education figures show
schools are missing out on about £50m in unclaimed Pupil Premium grants. Help us
to address this by seeing if your child is eligible to receive one today!

Our new term at St Mary’s Isleworth will commence the week of Mon 19 TH Septmeber
2016, with an exciting opportunity to enrol your child in our dance club; Kool Kids n Kool
Moves.
The club offers a Jazz / Modern and Musical Theatre style of dance and elements of ballet
training, designed to ensure the kids have fun and improve their fitness whilst learning
routines to artists such as Taylor Swift, One Direction, Jessie J and many others. We also
bring West End musicals to our classes and showcase anything from The Lion king to
Matilda.
All children need to wear the correct St Margaret’s Dance Academy Uniform, which can be
ordered directly through us. For the girls this consists of a black leotard and a pair of black
leggings and a soft lovely pink hoodie top (optional). We don’t sell the uniform for boys but
we ask that they attend wearing a black t-shirt and black leggings or trousers.

When: Tuesdays at 15:30-16.45pm
Where: Church Hall next to school (temporary arrangement to accommodate building
works in the school)
