How does one make a comedy about the Jim
Crow South? Somehow the husband and wife
indie filmmaking team of Brandon
(screenwriter/ lead actor) and Seckeita Lewis
(director) have pulled it off. Set in a rural
Mississippi town on the morning of the passage
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the film follows
two African American best friends who apply for
a promotion at the printing company where they
work. But their gesture is rebuffed by those who
don?t do change as well as they do, and pretty
soon they?re running for their lives from a lynch
mob and much more. With Irma P. Hall. Cleveland
premiere. DCP. 98 min.
