The Trials of Galileo
Friday 14 October
7.30pm
The Trials of Galileo focuses on the
events surrounding Galileo’s heresy
trial in 1633.
“The Universe is a divine miracle
Galileo, not a clockwork toy! ‘Proof’
Friday 28 October 7.30pm
Six yards of cloth, wound round tight
Or draped seductively
(with post show discussion)
A dark comedy about nosiness gone
wild...
Pam’s already got a low opinion of her
neighbours. So when someone pinches
her Elizabethan sideboard, it’s all-out
war: she becomes a one-woman MI6,
ramping up her operation from curtain
twitching to spy cameras hidden in
hand-knitted novelties. But what Pam
unearths is what she already suspects –
that her neighbours are all on the verge
of terrible crimes. Fish Eye shows how
the hacking of every inch of our lives
has run way out of control. Like Alan
Leaping Salmon
Arts Project
Queen’s Hall Arts is celebrating the
annual salmon migration this year with
a special programme of arts workshops,
demonstrations and activities taking
place at indoor and outdoor sites
along the river from Hexham up to
the Salmon Centre at Kielder during
October and November. Activities are
aimed at people of all ages and abilities
and will focus on making images
inspired by the leaping salmon. People
will have the opportunity to try out
a number of different printmaking
processes, including simple lino and
woodcut printing – and something
a little more unusual: Gyotaku - a
traditional Japanese method of printing
from fish, introduced by fishermen in
the 1800s to record their catch!
Leaping Salmon is a Queen’s Hall project
developed in partnership with Northumberland
National Park Authority, the Environment
Agency and Northern Print.
Queen’s Hall Arts is delighted to announce a three-year
programme of arts projects aimed at older people which
has been made possible by funding from the Kellett Fund, through the Community
Foundation. During the first year of the programme, groups will have the opportunity to
take part in taster sessions across a range of arts and crafts processes, leading to larger
projects over time which link with their local communities. If you are part of an art or craft
group – or would like to start a new one – and would like to know more, please contact
