Welcome to the July/August issue of Dee Shoots NYC Magazine! This is the fourth release and it’s been a 

pleasure to show you the beauty of New York City. This issue has some interesting shots filled with plenty 

of fun stuff - I promise! 

It’s currently a special time, as the Summer Olympics rage on in Rio de Janeiro. Millions have tuned in 

to the excitement as athletes from all over the world look to fulfill their Olympic dreams and make their 

country proud. I’d like to wish all of our men and women good luck: go USA! 

In this issue, you’re bound to feel the depth of the elegant and upscale vibe that New York City has to offer.

Dolce & Gabbana is 

a luxury fashion 

house founded by 

designers Domenico 

Dolce and Stefano Gabbana 

in 1985. Dolce was born on 

September 13, 1958 in Polizzi 

Generosa, and worked in a 

small clothing business from 

childhood. 

Stefano Gabbana was born 

on November 14, 1962 in 

Milan and began as a graphics 

designer but changed to 

fashion. 

After a short time as assistant 

designers, the two founded the 

Dolce & Gabbana label and, as 

per the invitation of fashion 

promoter Beppe Modenese, 

had its first runway show with 

the New Talent Group in 1985 

in Milan.

Dolce and Gabbana are credited as the 

inventors of a Mediterranean style inspired by 

the 1963 film ‘The Leopard’ and iconic, sensual 

Italian women. 

The designers defined their own paragon: a 

woman who is audacious and impartial, is 

devoted to family and church, and both reveals 

and conceals as she is provocative with her 

sensuality. 

With Dolce and Gabbana’s first collection, they 

used the past as a vehicle for the future with 

regards to innovation, using materials such as 

silk, wool and crocheted lace in extravagant 

skirts during a time when women’s fashion was 

all about two-piece suits.

The brand is one of the greatest 

illustrations of Italy’s 1980s 

ready-to-wear upsurge. Lending 

to the aristocratic as well as 

the working class, just as easily 

shifting from masculine to 

feminine looks, this versatility 

and ingenuity contribute heavily 

to the evolution of fashion.

Throughout the year, Urbanspace’s 

food hall is a hot culinary spot and has 

become one of New York’s most talked 

about food destinations, for sure. 

The hall is located inside of the 

Helmslet Building at 230 Park Avenue, 

on 45th Street & Vanderbilt Avenue.

Here, you’ll find both market favorites and, of 

course, brick-and-mortar highlights: Roberta’s 

pizza, Ippudo ramen, 

Sigmund’s pretzels, and Delaney’s chicken 

sandwich are just a few. The food hall is the 

site of a craze during lunchtime on weekdays, 

but it can be a good thing because there are so 

many great options to choose from. 


The universal love of Urbanspace’s food hall stems from the variety of foods and aura of life. 

Once you step inside, you’ll feel right at home.

Central Park on New 

York’s 5th Avenue 

since 1930. 

From the outside, it is undoubtedly 

a lavish building with a timehonored

Meet Donald Robertson: a former artschool 

dropout, now one of fashion’s 

favorite artists. 

Before this dramatic transition, Robertson was 

your typical suburban dad commuting to New 

York City for a nine-to-five. Instagram? He’d 

have dismissed it, at the time. 

But his love for drawing led an assistant to 

hook him up with an Instagram account in 

2012, and a new star was born.

“Drawbertson” and his amusing art, infused with childlike instincts, have drawn fans from 

everywhere, attracting the likes of Bergdorf Goodman and J. Crew, and launching a multiplatform 

career. 

His art style is homemade and a bit disheveled, but he owes his success to this and his 

rejection of realism. Robertson believes that fashion and art, together, shouldn’t be so 

esoteric and encourages a child-like spirit.

Robertson has partnered with STORY, a New 

York-based concept shop, to reveal a launching 

that is so...well, “Drawbertson”. 

You can view the transformation of the 2,000 

square feet space from Chelsea here, captured

The New York Design Center building was 

erected in 1926, under the name of the New 

York Furniture Exchange for the purpose of 

wholesale furniture trade. 

As a result of changes in the design industry, 

a movement in the direction of interior design 

sparked the name change in 1981. 

The New York Design Center encompasses over 

100 showrooms, with hundreds of furniture 

lines, fabric, decorative accessories, lighting, 

and more.

so an appointment 

is necessary to access this 

designer’s haven. 

The beauty of the New York 

Design Center is it’s power 

to give a face to smaller lines
