ROSCOE WILSON
INVADED BY ALIENS!
Lubbock, TX. New pictures released
by our intrepid WS staff photographers
show mysterious alien
creatures climbing the roof of Roscoe
Wilson Elementary School.
Ms. Paula Finney, Principal
at the award-winning magnet
school, informed the WT staff that
while alien sightings have been reported
in the neighborhood, “the
halls of Roscoe Wilson are safe for
our children“.
“It was probably just the
RW Teacher Miriam Lockhart.
When questioned about
Ms. Finney indicated that no
abductions have occurred. “Our
children would never abduct an
alien. We teach respectful boys and
girls who would not want to raise
undue worry on the part of alien
WRANGLER SPOTLIGHT:
Carienne Caldwell
Carienne Caldwell is the guidance
counselor at RW. Her husband,
Brandon, is a Lubbock firefighter,
and their daughter, Grace, is a 1st
grader at RW. She also has two stepdaughters,
Jaylee (14) and Kennedy
(11). Mrs. Caldwell joined the RW
team in January, but this is not her
first rodeo. After graduating from
New Mexico State University she
worked as a case worker for at-risk
teen girls and later at Alderson Elementary
School. She joined us
after returning to school for her
Master’s in Education and Counseling
at Wayland Baptist University.
She has made quite an impact
in her time at RW. You may have
heard that she is meeting weekly
with K-2nd grade classrooms.
During these guidance sessions
she is helping them learn to better
solve their own problems and to
The Wrangler staff is AWESOME! Please email michelle.cohen@sbcglobal.net or
drop a note in the PTA mailbox attn: Michelle Cohen, telling her what faculty or staff
member you have caught “wearing their Wrangler CHAPS” and serving RW beyond
the call of duty. Maybe they will be highlighted in the Wrangler Staff Spotlight!
Kitchen, Roscoe Wilson, Lubbock
TX (AP) The WT has uncovered a
covert operation by the 5th graders
to attempt to sell baked goods to the
public to raise funds for their endof-year
graduation banquet and festivities.
However, our intrepid WT
reporters have discerned that the
5th graders have not had any of their
deux
use their “big voices”. She also helps
with the lunch buddy program for
3rd-5th grade, which allows small
groups of students to have lunch
with their teachers. Most recently,
she was responsible for College and
Career Readiness Week and created
the wonderful map that displayed
where RW teachers attended college.
That week she also arranged
for students to get a glimpse of various
careers. K-2nd graders talked
with a doctor, veterinarian, DPS officer,
and firefighter. 3rd-5th graders
met with a news anchor (Karen
McKay), architect/engineer, medical
student, and agriculture expert/auctioneer.
All grades enjoyed a visit
from a DPS helicopter! What an exciting
week she created!! Thank you
Mrs. Caldwell for helping our RW
Wranglers saddle up for success in
so many important ways!!
Hidden Location, Deep in the
Heart of Texas. (AP) RW PTA
President Eddy Morelock continues
to defy the odds with his outstanding
presidency. Yet, despite his overwhelming
support with popularity
polls reaching an all-time high,
President Morelock continues to
work from an undisclosed location.
According to President Morelock,
“September was a great month with
the 1st PTA meeting in which the
5th graders performed. The bike
rally was a success thanks to Tommy
Take a picture and send it to the
pictures of the future, your pictures
are of the past, and therefore,
they’re history! Our Pulitzer Prize
Pres. Morelock went on to quell
the fears about aliens at RW. “Yes,
there are rumors. No, they are not
true.”
“More importantly,” stated
Pres. Morelock, “the PTA membership
The Wrangler Times represents the
finest in PTA Yellow Journalism and
is brought to you monthly by a space
alien. Yes, a space alien. I admit it! It’s
true! Ha Ha, the WT is mine! Mine
all mine! (well, actually, as long as Eddy and Ms.
Finney say it’s mine...) And, there’s nothing
you can do about it because this job
is not paid! I’m a volunteer! Moohooha
ha ha ha ha (that’s Alienese for an
evil laugh!). If you would like to contribute
to the WT, send smoke signals
to the editor, Aaron Yoshinobu. Alternatively,
you may send him an email:
aaron_yoshinobu@yahoo.com or a
text message: 806-773-9333. Submission
deadline is the 20th of each
Journalism at the Cutting Edge
Doesn’t anyone read the newsletter?!?!?!
(sob, sob, sob...) (sniffle,
sniffle, sniffle...) The Wrangler
Times staff is still looking for a few
boys and girls to roam the halls and
submit news pieces to the Times. If
you’re a RW Writing Wrangler (RW 3
- that’s “RW-cubed” for short), consider
writing a short piece on a news
worthy happening in the RW Halls.
What’s news-worthy, you ask?
Class projects, interviews with
teachers (or Ms. Finney!), reports
on athletic events, or other items
that parents/teachers/students of
RW “need to know”. Articles may be
no longer than 100 words. Submissions
may also include comics.
Ask your parents to help you submit
the article, including a title, to
the Wrangler Times editor, Aaron
Yoshinobu
(aaron_yoshinobu@yahoo.com).
Articles must be received by the
20th of each month for inclusion in
the next months’ newsletter.
The WT, and Ms. Finney, reserve
the right to select and edit any submission.
Please don’t make this poor
old underpaid, overworked space
alien... oops, I mean, news editor
have to beg and steal for news items.
Or, worse yet, make them up out of
his own imagination! Submit something!
Who knows, you might get
published! Fame! A resume builder,
maybe even a Pulitzer!!
ADOPT-A-CLASSROOM
JAM THE JUG
No, we’re not talking about preserves
