THE COMMUNITY Service
Center (CSC), the apostolate arm
of the University of San Agustin,
always pursues the promotion of
family life development through
spiritual formation for
community transformation. This
gave birth to the launching of the
“Food for the Soul Project” in
October 2009.
CSC ‘Food for the Soul’ project launched
Tilipunan volunteers and staff segregating the rosary beads
Prof. Lerma Paris, faculty
member of the College of
Pharmacy and Medical Technology
participated in various activities in
May 2009. She represented the
University during the launching of
Earth Hour at SM City,
Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The
launching was backed-up by the
exhibits put up by the Community
and Public Health Class in the
university. She delivered a talk on
important information concerning
ozone layer protection after the
opening of the exhibit.
Paris also attended a seminar
on “Research Assessment
The CSC Management team
led by Fr. Danilo M. Carido,
O.S.A., campaigned for rosary
beads and Hiligaynon Bibles from
the members of the University.
The effort formed part of the
annual gift giving during the
Tilipunan anniversary’s Regalo
Agustino. The overwhelming
response of the Augustinians to
PMT prof in extension and research activities
Framework” conducted by the
Regional Health Research and
Development Committee
(RHRDC) of the Department of
Science and Technology-Regional
Office 6 (DOST-RO 6), at the
Sarabia Manor Hotel last 20 May
2009. The seminar was all about
concerns and needs in health
research, framework and gathering
of researches from different schools
in Region VI, identification of
agenda, funding institutions, and
research consultancy. Paris
participated in the activity as
member of the RHRDC-DOST 6
and as representative of the
Communitas
Tilipunan’s call to share led to
the distribution of three
hundred twenty copies of bibles
and six hundred forty pieces of
rosary beads to Tilipunan
children and parents in
Alimodian, Oton and Leganes,
Iloilo.
The project sustained the
spiritual feeding activities of the
CSC like sharing of life’s stories
during the monthly Word of
Life sessions among the children
and their parents, and the
annual community recollections
during the Holy Week.
Further, having been
inspired by the project, the
Basic Education Department,
with its faculty coordinators for
community service Ms. Rizalin
Gubatanga and Ms. Corazon
Buenvenida, facilitated the Live
Rosary in Ginomoy last 24

University by virtue of her being
chair of the college’s Research
Management Group.
In a “Planning Workshop on
Priority Health Research
Programs for Region 6”
sponsored by the DOST-RO 6,
Paris also acted as participantfacilitator.
The activity was held
at the University Instructional
Media Center on 9-10 November
2009. It enabled the members of
the research team determine the
health profile and status of the
region and helped them identify
researchable areas in health care.
